Now that you have called upon me with provocation, i would surmise that it is an invitation. :)
The Red and White thingy as you call it goes beyond color, it transcends culture, history and tradition.People with no sense of those are the ones who would brand the topic pathetic. My heart goes for you mhek that maybe someday when you establish your own tradition and culture you would finally understand and grasp what wearing the school color loud and proud really means.;)

If you want us to know about how your school's color trancends culture, history, and tradition. Fine. I think you've already made your point. Besides, nobody in this thread is asking you.

If you want us to stop using the color, then I am sorry to disappoint you because we couldn't do that, and we won't do that just to give in to some people like you. I suggest gather your people and start a protest in Mendiola.

If I want to use "Beda" to refer to your beloved school, you can't stop me and I won't let you stop me. If you're saying that there's no such thing as Beda, only SBC. Fine. It's your right.

However, I could call your school "Beda" whenever I want to, this is a democratic country. Besides, I have a lot of friends and officemates from your beloved "SBC" that call your "SBC" as Beda.

I know you love your school and there's a lot of ways to show your love and support to your school but I think what you're doing is not part of it.

Allow us to do it OUR OWN WAY. If we are unable to live up to your "oh so high" expectations, then we're sorry, but deal with it.:)

If you think the red and white are the only school colors your students/alumni and varsity teams proudly wear. Fine. Believe it all you want.

The point is, you CANNOT and WILL NOT STOP US from wearing our OWN RED AND WHITE color with PRIDE.

Red Warriors in deep training in US

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East Red Warriors, fresh from their first runner-up feat at the five-school Ming Dao Cup International Tournament in Taiwan, have been undergoing intensive training at the famed Joe Abunassar Impact Basketball (AIB) camp in Reseda, California, USA since April 1.

The AIB has produced NBA greats the likes of Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince, Al Harrington, Baron Davis, Jermaine O’Neal, Vince Carter, and Kevin Garnett.

As part of their training, the UE Red Warriors will see action in the AIB-arranged invitational tournament of American junior colleges in Las Vegas, Nevada.

They will also play in Los Angeles against Fil-Am teams in goodwill games arranged by the UE Alumni Association LA chapter. Head coach Lawrence Chongson, asst. coach Renaldo Baena, team physical therapist/trainer Andrei Tolentino and team manager Jesus Tanchanco Sr. accompanied the players to monitor their training progress. Tanchanco will also touch base with LA-based UE alumni.

The Warriors’ international training and tune-up games are part of the team-building program introduced by the new team management in preparation for the 72nd UAAP basketball season in July.

They will arrive in mid-April to defend their title in the 2009 Filoil Flying V Pre-Season MVP Cup starting April 16.

They will also compete in the 2009 Nike Summer League which starts April 19.

The PCC Organizers screwed La Salle promising all this time that La Salle will be sent to Belgrade to represent the Philippines in the University Games as there prize in winning the PCC Championship last year. All the while, there was really no slot for the Philippines to join in this tournament. Until now, the PCC Organizers have not yet apologized to La Salle and to the entire basketball community. Vietnam has hired a Filipino coach to help develop the socialist county’s grassroots basketball development program.

Eric Samson, who last handled Pagadian City in the Liga Pilipinas, is leaving for Vietnam this February after accepting a year-long contract from the Vietnam Basketball Federation.

He takes over the job once held by another Filipino mentor Ricky Magallanes, who is now in New York after accepting an offer to become a part of a five-star camp for coaches.

Samson has been tasked to draft Vietnam’s first-ever under-18 youth program for Ho Chi Minh City.

“Ako ang hahawak ng kauna-unahang youth program ng Vietnam sa basketball. Parang iyung ginagawa dito sa atin ni Rajko Toroman, iyun din ang gagawin ko doon (I will handle Vietnam’s first ever youth program in basketball. It’s like what Rajko Toroman does here, I will do the same there),” Samson said.

Basketball Association of the Philippines secretary-general Graham Lim, coach Beaujing Acot and Emilio Aguinaldo College sports director Nomar Isla encouraged Samson to accept the offer.

Samson, who used to be an assistant coach of the UE Warriors said the Vietnamese wanted a youth program for basketball because of the huge gap in the ages of talented players.

Filipino coaches are held in high esteem in the region. Samson’s former colleague in the University of the East David Zamar is now handling an Indonesian club team.
