Career in Fashion Publication

If one wants to become a creative director of a fashion publication, say PREVIEW or MEGA, what course should one take? aside from fashion-related courses? Does one take up BA Creative Writing cause fashion journalism is not formal in certain aspects to warrant a degree of BA Journalism? or BA journalism is still the best bet? or are there other courses more appropriate for this career? an urgent reply would be greatly appreciated.. :bashful:

Someone with a broad liberal arts/humanities background, degree studies in English, journalism, communications, advertising, fashion design (more specifically in your case), and other arts-related degrees is usually preferred. To have a good background in and familiarity with computer graphics, web architecture, and online/electronic publishing, and other languages is also encouraged.

Creative writing, on the other hand, is also okay, although it’s more geared towards “emotional expression” and more useful for those who want “to save themselves” creatively through poetry and other literary genres.

But, in my opinion, having a “Degree in Passion” is way more important than any degree you will ever take.

Yung mga kilala kong fashion writers, they're there not because they're good in writing but because they know a lot about kakikayan, kaartehan sa katawan, etc. Pumapangalawa na lang ang pagiging marunong magsulat. Plus point na lang iyan.

Isa pa, kung mag-aapply ka sa isang fashion magazine, titignan din nila kung paano ka pumorma, at kung meron ka bang fashion sense. Sa dati kong work, karamihan ng mga nasa fashion magazines, kuntodo pumorma kala mo parating pupunta sa party.

Hindi OA iyan. Ganyan talaga.
