It depends on the brightness of the red, IMHO red espescially bright red is a very loud color so its safer to go with a mute or neutral color like white or gray to tone it down.

I pair my red pants with black or white tops. T-shirts, collared shirts, tank tops. Anything black and white.
I really don't like pink pants as I don't think it looks good... ever.
Anyway, black and white with the red looks classy.
Other colors with it looks trashy tbh...
