no matter how much I love my isko neighbors, their isaw, and their super cheap photocopy booths, I just have to say that U.P. is more intimidating than "good looking". U.P. looks so great in pictures, but when you get there... It's unkempt grass and awkward black lined concrete and fading red brick tint. As for the neo-classical (is that correct?) buildings... I was never a fan... more an eyesore than a piece of art. UST though has what I consider wonderful architecture... in all the wrong places. Beauty is in the superficial areas of UST... when you get to the inner winding roads though, you just feel like you ended up in an unkempt suburb. Just my thoughts... Oh and one last comment... Ateneo has homogeneity in its structures. Its good in an aesthetic sense, but if I wanted to see brick buildings all over the place, I'd go to Boston. It's nothing spectacular. Except for the Gesu. (I <3 You Gesu) but it certainly lacks sculptures, and those bells with that horrendous harness in the Socsci-DLC quad is soooo out of place.

DLSU looks nice in this photo! Now my ranking has changed again. For now, I would say UST, ADMU and DLSU are the best looking campus in the metro. Keep on posting fortherecord :) I would like to see more ADMU photos here :)*okay*

walang basehan ang pagsasabi kung alin ang pinakamagandang campus sa Manila.

My Ranking is the same as the same as the BIG 3 ranking in terms of academic quality since I have been to these schools already:

1. UP
2. Ateneo
3. DLSU

nothing follows.

Ive been to at least 10 more schools within MM pero nothing comes close to these 3 institutions.

Sa mga universities, pinakamaganda ang facilities ng DLSU, parang walang pangit na parte sa loob, pati toilet, talagang inaayos. Maikukumpara mo sa Singapore ang DLSU.

Nakukulangan pa ako sa UST, pero buti na lang, hindi sila humihinto sa pagpapaganda at pag-improve ng campus. Malayo na ang hitsura ng Uste makaraan ang 20 years.

BTW, Maganda ang Art Deco buildings ng FEU. Gayun din ang mga lumang buildings ng UP Manila at Diliman. Kaya lang, parang pinaglaruan naman ang mga bagong buildings sa Diliman.

Comment lang... nahihiya ba ang UST na malaman kung nasaan ang campus nila? Grabe if you would observe halos lahat ng buildings nila walang signage. Isang beses pumunta ako ng UST para makipag meet sa friend... walang mga pangalan ang buildings! Sobrang anonymous talaga. Alam mo yun... kahit yun labas ng UST wala man lang nakalagay na "UST"... nakita ko lang sa large monitor sa may Espana yun "UST announcements" bago ko nalaman na UST yun.

Most U-Belt schools ang dali i locate kasi kitang kita in big signs yun name ng schools nila.

Sa mga naka-appreciate ng photo na ito ni Father, kung mapapansin niyo, yung mga detalye katulad ng vertical lines (columns ng Main Bldg., yung foreground, at poste ng ilaw na nagmukhang border ng photo) eh talagang kitang kita sa larawan. Dahil diyan, "lumitaw" ang imahe ni Father, lalo pa at ginawang grayscale ang photo.

I'm assuming that this is a joke, right? Eversince naman may signage ang UST Hospital diba? Yung Cancer Institute aka Angelo King ang may malaking signage - ganun ata talaga ang mga bagong addition na buildings sa UST.

I agree with everyone else here, hindi kailangan ng UST ng malaking sign para ipagsigawan na NASA ESPANA ANG UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS. The archaic Arch of the Centuries in itself already speaks to people saying - NANDITO ANG UST, and we're here to stay.

taga ust-engineering ako batch 2002 at ang masasabi ko lang ay tama ka. 5 taong ganap ako naglabas pasok jan at naku sa lahat ng building eto ang walang appeal. ironic kse lahat ng uste engineer ito ang hq. nagimprove na naman sa loob yan kse aircon na ang classroom at me multimedia rooms. ewan ko lang ngayon ah. :naughty:

Hindi yata pinapasok si Aling Melba sa loob ng Main Building nung kabataan niya kung kaya't nagmumukmok na lamang siya sa labas. Bawal pa yata pumasok ang mga nakatira sa bandang talipapa noon at baka dumanak ang dugo sa loob.

Mas maganda naman diyan ang Aling Melba mo na tsismosa riyan sa may bandang talipaps noh. :lol:

The world-renown mausoleum of Taj Mahal in Agra, India is a beautiful piece of Mughal architecture. Despite its external exquisite beauty it is and will always be a mausoleum by any other name or circumstance (hence, "a mausoleum is a mausoleum even if you're thinking along the lines of the Taj Mahal"). The Taj is so beautiful that it's incomparable (hence, "don't even think about it", i.e., of comparing the Beato to the Taj Mahal). :)

"That's brutal" or "You're brutal" is a tongue-in-cheek expression often used endearingly among group of friends when one coolly "criticizes" a friend in the group and another in the group rubs it in by saying "that's brutal" or "you're brutal". It's supposed to be a joke and not to be taken seriously and literally. ;)

Food for thought: Shakespeare says, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". The more abstractly cryptic Gertrude Stein says, "A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose..." What exactly does she mean? Are the 2 talking of the same thing?
