^ Plus your chances of landing in the top 10 is much, much higher at UP Diliman than at anywhere else. This year, for example, the chances of landing in the top 10 were 20%. No other school in the country can provide that better than UP Diliman does. And, I'm not just talking about Archi, but for all programs where board exams are required.

i think its because you have the best students (as per UPCAT). the argument that UP is making topnotchers is a little vague because to begin with, these students are already the smartest of their batch. *okay*

maganda pa rin ang turo sa mapua pero ang pinaka main problem lang talaga is the kick out system. may mga magagaling pa rin na student na pumapasok sa mapua pero sayang lang kasi nahahaluan ng mga hinde karapat dapat. were not here to compare our school. kung magaling talaga sa inyo eh di magaling talaga.
and one of the main factor kung bakit mababa ang passing ng mapua ay dahil *** mga di pumasa ng previous board exam ay naiipon tapos babagsak ulit sa next board exam. pero kung papansinin *** mga first time takers mataas ang passing talaga.

There's this very old university with quite a handful of haughty students whose tag line goes something like this: We accept average students and train them to be better.
I thought the tag line sounds marvelous, for it is every school's agenda to train students and make them better. But, if you're impressed by some schools' use of such a tag line to market itself, here's UP's: We choose the very best, and make them better.

student factor na yun, kung madaming bumagsak sa Mapua, the fact that it can produce the two highest placers in the board already speaks well about the quality of education the school offers.
consideration na din, na Mapua as a private schools needs a number of students para mag operate, wala naman ibang source of income ang school kundi yung tuition fee ng estudyante. kaya kahit 50/50 ang chance ng student sa board, pina ga graduate pa rin. saka kaya may take 2 or 3 sa boards, it means, they can still pass.
saka let's admit, kahit ako take one lang from my local and US boards, as a taker, di ka naman talaga nakakasiguro na papasa ka, kaya halos lahat ng santo tawagan mo na, at di ka na mapagkatulog sa pagaalala. so let's not be hard on those who failed. lahat naman posibleng bumagsak.

Very well said spanishsardine. Ang karamihan kasi itinuturing iyong school nila as a trophy and not as a TOOL.
Sige, God Bless You.

Nakakaumay eh.

we just want to reiterate our perennial problem of lack of funding. we are, afterall, the state university and the only international-class uni in the country. see, only 14 exam takers. the fact that they all passed means little to us. and yes congratulations to mapua. ;)
