basically, I just need to compare The Lottery by S. Jackson to a Filipino short story with the same theme (thematically linked)...so anybody here who knows a Filipino Short Story in English (Palanca award winners would be better) that I can used in my comparative analysis paper.

Tnx pex community

Top of mind, what comes to me when you mention tradition and scapegoat is Nick Joaquin's 'Summer Solstice.' There's the traditional Tadtarin ritual and as for the scapegoat, perhaps the husband of the female protagonist who was all macho and alpha male in the start only to end up being a 'dog' after the ritual? :geek: It's not exactly like Jackson's, but, well, I guess you may look into that...

I'll try to recall other stories I have read that has rituals in it.;)
