I heard that ust instructors (no masters degree or currently enrolled in a master degree) have a salary of 24 thou, it depends on how much workload...

nakakatuwa naman ang mga kaguruan ng UP... bayaning bayani... mlaki pa sweldo ko sa full time professor nila with PhD and more than 10 intern'l publications. Hahahahahaha!
Kaya pala meron mga napipirata, pero ma smarami ang nags-stay, kase nga naman kung lilipat sila sa ibang university, isolated sila dun in terms of intellectual capability of the students and co-profs, and pati na rin research interests.

yeah. i know several profs who are offered by DLSU, CSB or AdMU up to twice and thrice of what they get in UP. they tried it for a year or so, but after a while, there's really no price for the intellectual challenge one gets from teaching UP students.

and another thing about UP professors, they are only given a total load of 12 units per semester, and it can be decreased, depending kung may administrative load or nag-aaral pa sila....not bad, considering in other schools na nirerequire nilang pumasok ng 8 - 5 yung mga prof nila.

My part time professor in DLSU said she gets around P15k pero konti lang load nya. Full professor gets P100k+, may car and driver pa. This was 2 years ago. Sabi nila, they don't get much on teaching. They get more by writing books and corporate consulting.

I believe in DLSU and ADMU they are also given 12 units per term or semester.

Yes but:
In UP, the teachers usually have to teach 2 semesters a year with each semester lasting 17 weeks.
In Ateneo, the teachers have to teach a total of 30 units per year - this can be 12+12+ 6 units during summer or 15+15 (if you don't want to teach during the summer term) or some other variant.
In DLSU, the teachers teach for 3 terms per year with each term lasting 14 weeks. The cumulative number of trimester break days is much smaller than the semestral break days for ADMU and UP.
I believe in DLSU and ADMU they are also given 12 units per term or semester.

I'm quite sure this is 200+, not 2k+, otherwise, even my college professors(admu) would have probably transferred there.
A friend in lasalle working part time also earns 250+/hour.
The big guns (professors with phd's) in DLSU earns 70-100k. This figure was around 2-3 years ago. Could be lower/higher today~

:):):)The minimum salary for an instructor 1 in an SUC is now 13T plus so di na updated ang figures mo. this is salary standardization law. im an instructor 1 in a state U here at region 12. the big difference is 12 units lang talaga ang regular load sa UP at may quota sa class size. dito sa amin, 21 units na nga at umaabot pa sa 60+ ang class size mo!!! imagine that number in a laboratory class. parang palengke ang dating!!!:lol::lol:

exaggerated naman 'to. wala namang driver and cars. :rotflmao: yung professor ko nga University Fellow, araw araw nagcocommute sa LRT and MRT.
as for the 70-100k + salary, dapat may PhD ka and a University Fellow. tapos dapat maraming publications, research, international citations and holds a position in an acclaimed national/international organization. and i-ilan lang yung nakakuha ng ganyang salary range.

He then recounted his experience as a visiting/ guest professor sa Taft, bilang nag-absent siya sa isang class namin para pumunta doon. Gustung-gusto na raw niyang paupuin lahat ng nagsasalita sa harap nung ginawa niya same style as samin, kasi first paragraph pa lang, sakit na raw sa ulo  Kaya todo pasalamat siya samin nung pagbalik niya samin the next meeting, kung di lang daw siya binayaran, di na siya babalik doon

this only happens in the lectures. usually mga MS or PhD professors lang ang lecturers at with microphones yan, huh! basahin mo kaya ang new UP law which was signed by GMA last year. excempted na sa tax ang mga UP professors if they have national awards or may international publications sila. at may batas na rin giving fiscal autonomy to UP. in due time, better na talaga ang financial rewards sa UP compared to other SUCs and private Us.

3) In due time baka nga tumino ang financial rewards sa UP.
Versus to sa 15k, 25k at 30k repectively sa UP. .

may mga subjects talaga sa UP na 100+++ ang target students (NatSci, STS and Physics 71-73), pero hinahati pa rin sila into recit classes once a week for a quiz and discussion made up of 15-20 students. tapos sa laboratory, 18 students per subject din. Parang yung sa spider man ni Tobey Maguire yung set-up, andaming students sa 1 classroom.

Class sizes also depend on the nature of the subject - even in the U.S., it's not surprising to see lecture classes having between 200 and 500 students in classes such as math, physics, biology, and chemistry. Lectures kasi ang primary form of instruction. Then the classes are significantly reduced into small discussion sections for the lab portions.
My sisters who went to UP Diliman and UP Los Banos had only 25 students in their respective English (Comm I and Comm II) and speech (Comm III) classes - mas kailangang tutukan ang instruction in those areas.
