Anime Music: anyone else who loves them?

Well, basically, I love Music from anime shows and movies. My favorite being from the
Macross 7 series. Where the group there is called "Fire Bomber". They have this acoustic version of a song which is entitled
"My soul for you" Really very good.

The music from the movie Mononokehime is great. The voice range of the singer really broad.. When I heard the music again, i nearly cried. :D anyone else there?

Original CD?

Ghost in the shell CDs are very hard to find nowadays.. I think I saw one over at eBay which went for about 35 dollars.

I usually deal in Anime music over the net when i have nothing better to do. :D

EVANGELION MUSIC!!!!!! they have some majorly good tracks! The themes of each character are very fitting... and the opening theme is just amazing ^_^

Neon Genesis Evangelion?

I have several of the CDs...
My favorite being the
Death and Rebirth music.. it is so soul rending.

one thing I can say about Evanglion music is that it is most unlike usual anime music.

why? Because the OST of evangelion are mostly based on German Opera music.. In one of my CDs, there is a symphony from Wagner.. and then from Bach.. and those CDs are Evangelion CDs...

RK songs are good..

I have a lot of the music for the Gundam series.. ranging from the Gundam X, gundam V, Gundam W and the 08th MS Tac team Songs..
Songs are good.. best though are the Gundam W songs by Two mix... nice mixing..

as for the Macross songs, the ones I like best are not the battle themses but the drama songs.. korni ano?

The ghostfighter music is cool.. a bit funny also.. I have the music CD from the movie and it is realy good.. u should hear it sometimes..


As for the recca no honou songs.. dang it is hard trying to find ones here in japan..

I'm surprised no one mentioned the RK soundtrack, since most of the songs there are pretty good. Songs like "1/3 No Junjou No Kanjou", "Its Gonna Rain" and a bunch more are pretty good. And what about the Gundam wing and Macross battle themes? Those are really nice to listen to.

i have most of the EVA cd's but the other songs i just downloaded on the net(most of the cd prices doubled due to the economic crisis.how much do the cds cost nowadays at comic alley n cats?)
anyway, the shows whose music i like are:
EVA- probably the best anime series in the 90's and the soundtracks are among the best.

YuYu Hakusho- hated it when GMA didnt show the full ending themes so i downloaded all the themes through the net

RK- gta love the songs of the rock bands, especially those sang by Larc en Ciel(4th avenue cafe and niji from the movie)

btw, is monoke hime gna be shown here? i hope so

I agree with Assasin_Mage, I adore the drama themes in Macross, especially that tear-jerking and heart-wrenching piano sequence they always play during drama scenes.

My favorite battle theme in Gundam Wing is the one that played during the final battle between Zechs and Heero...it sounded great!

the thing I liked about Eva is the new concept of it.. The concept of Robot Jock bred to fight have been used before but the beauty of Evan is the way it explores the feelings of the clones.. nway.. the music is very good really.. mixing classical music with anime.. brilliant work ..

Yuyu hakusho songs are good.. listened to a CD last nite and it was very funny.. especialy the part where eugene sang like a broken record. :D

i have soundtracks of rk (na lagi na lang namin pinapatugtog araw-araw coz it's good. my fave songs there are 1/3, 1/2, namida wa shiite iru, heart of sword, sobakasu and tactics. grabe sa ganda....i can feel the force of kenshin himura :) :)

I love the RK themes esp. Heart of Sword and It's Gonna Rain--the latter is so "feel good"..and it doesn't sound Japanese ^^

I also like the theme of Escaflowne Mystic Eyes and No Need for Promises., BAKURETSU Hunters (What's up, Guys), of course, Just Communication fro Gundam G and the Weiss Kreuz Songs (although their voices are not so good^^)

Sa NGE naman..I like Homm Susser (something)..the one in End of Eva. That's the song in English!

And, the Doraemon and Mojacko theme really makes me smile^^

I wish those who have other interesting anime songs could share their blessings (hint!Hint!)

The original Japanese release. and yeah, it costs a bundle. mostly because the original CDs are really costly here in japan also. and the ones which are cheap are the second hand ones. But usually, the out of print CDs can only be found in second hand shops. Dnag, that was where I found a mint 1986 Ranma 1/2 CD.. you know.. the lai lai boy song.. :D

I got a chance to download some mp3s of Weiss Kruez. If you guys have a thing for the theme music of Weiss, you should check out their songs, they're very good! I recommend "Beautiful Alone" and "Instant Karma".

Also, I got a chance to listen to Hotohori's song from FY, "Boku no Uchuu ni Kimi ga iru". I really like it, although his voice is so monotonous, the melody and backup vocals of the song was enough to carry it.

Well, everybody seems to love "Cruel Angel Thesis" from Evangelion, so that's great! The Rock's got a copy on Mini-Disc, along with a bunch of other "classic" anime. You see, one of The Rock's friends was in Hong Kong recently and he got a copy of a super Robot CD on the HK streets. It included the theme songs from UFO Grendaizer, Geta Robot, Gaiking, combattler V, Voltes V, Mazinger Z, and Great Mazinger. We copied it to MD, so now The Rock has all of the above themes! :D

Plus, The Rock has a friend who downloaded the EVA theme, the themes from Macross Plus, Gundam Wing, Daimos, Mekanda Robot, and even from the Soul Edge video game on MP3. We copied it to MD from the PC, then did some more MiniDisc to MiniDisc work, and now, The Rock's got all of those theme songs on one MD! Very cool, huh? :cool:

hey! ^^ so far i haven't heard anyone rave about the soundtrack for Escaflowne yet (OST 1! gosh, i just had to buy it!), although bostsip did mention (my favorite!!!) Yakusoku wa Iranai (op) and Mystic Eyes (end). ^o^ oh yes, and Sailormoon also has nice BGM's and image songs... my favorite OST is the SM R movie's.

Ranma 1/2 has cool image songs, most of them done by DOCO --- the five female voice actresses for the Tendo sisters, Shampoo, and girl-type Ranma. ^^

don't you wish we had a radio station that plays anime theme music? but with copyright costs and everything, it's wishful thinking. -_-; too bad. sigh.

I am really falling in love with the Dramatic Image Album of Weiss Kreuz. Not only do they have amazing songs, they are composed of one of the best Seiyuus in Japan! Seki Tomokazu and Koyasu Takehito's voices rocks! If there's one anime music album I would recommend other than RK and Gundam Wing, I would definitely recommend Weiss Kreuz. :)

FY: *sniff* "wakatte ita hazu" all satou akemi songs!

RK: kenshin & kaoru's duet! also, "namida wa shitte iru", "sobakasu", "1/3 no junjou no kanjou", "towa no mirai" *big sniff*, "1/2" and RK's got one of the best OSTs there is.

Kurama: Try downloading the mp3s of the songs...I use Scour Exchange (just something my bro downloaded that's almost like Napster) and that's where I found all my Weiss mp3s. "Last In My Winds" is great, but have you heard "Mellow Candle"? Its one of their songs for their OAVs, I think, and its one of the most beautiful anime songs I've heard. BTW, have you tried downloading Seki Tomokazu's songs? (he's the seiyuu of Ken). His voice is amazing, especially all his songs! His singing in "Shindemo ii" is absolutely breathtaking.

I love "Wild Wind"! Hiei's voice is so mellow and nice to listen to. I also love 1/3 from the RK soundtrack. Have you listened to the RK OAV soundtrack? The instrumentals are enough to give chills to my spine. ^_^

got a secret to reveal.. actually, i have almost all of their CDs (gluhen, the preciouse drama cds, the singles incl. the ova ones & the 1st drama series), but i haven't gotten around to listening to all of them. and i'm really stuck on "beautiful alone" :)

i like aya best. but i have to admit that tomokazu is one hell of a seiyuu. i mean, from ken to chichiri? cool! he's great!

The best opening songs/music have got to be the following (in my opinion)

1. "Duvet" by BOA, Serial Experiments Lain
2. "Tank" by Yoko Kanno, Cowboy Bebop
3. "Voices" by Yoko Kanno, Macross Plus OAV

And of course there are the eternally great series songs from Ranma 1/2 and fantastic piano music from the KOR movie. JPOP rocks!

I'm kinda sick n tired of the these ear tearing screaming voice of these mall core bands .. not that I hate them but it seems that it has become a stereotype culture thanks for the promotion of these money making scheme of these recording comapanies... btw even these crappy FM stations are also the main culprits of the crap that spread out ... that's why I tried listening to a new and different kind of material....since I'm an anime fan I started listening to their opening themes until I finaly discovered that this would be a start of a new color in the music scene though anime fanatics are discriminated by the Stereotype Community it seems that anime music and J-pop somehow has entered the local music scene starting with that Voltes V anthem then came these anime shops ,thanks to them I got a new stuff to get busy with ... honestly speaking I don't speak japanese nor write or understand but I admire their music ...not that I don't listen to OPM but these damn freakin diva's really annoys my ear no.. I don't hate them ...some of them also have talent but others are just female versions of Mallcore... :lol: .....

one of the most significant anime music ever heard in the Philippines was the Voltes V opening theme that became a huge succes to a local network after that the anime music scene soon flourished with the likes of those anime titles shown at AXN , anime music has now grown and it had its own distinciton particularly the lyrics :lol:

Well sa totoo lang ngayon lang uli ako nagpost dito after the Neotaku thread galing kasi ako sa PIMP Anniversary ng mga PEX Musicians..I had a great time there at ang gagaling nila lalo na si A_OK at si Cookies for Kids...nakakablib sila pumalo ng drums!

I guess anime music does make sense at all kahit na hindi ako marunong magsalita ng hapon atleast I can sing japanese music.

well 1/2 is good opening for Rurouni Kenshin but most of the anime fans I met before would prefer the RK ending themes especially 4th avenue by L'arc.....pero sa totoo lang isang beses ko pa lang napapakinggan yun pero ok sya at maganda .. but for me mas gusto ko yung 1/3 junjou na kanjou ...... another good opening theme comes from Magic Knight RayEarth ..... what about the Mecha Anime themes ? Gundam has a great variety of opening themes ....I like the most is the gundam X opening "resolution"....

Have you heard the MKR third opening theme (Hikari to Kagewo)? Grabe blown away ako dito. Kasama ito sa list of anime themes for the karaoke contest this anicon (anime quest). Sana may kumanta *wish*wish*:rolleyes:

All RK opening and ending themes are superb, not to mention RK OAV's "Tears I Cried." :shedtears: My fave is 1/3.

I like Anime music, but I refuse to be called an anime music freak! I only like selected music from the anime I watch, not all of them. The only exceptions are RK (anime series only) and FoR, where I like all the songs.

When Voltes V and all those giant mecha shows were showing in the 70s. almost all kids knew by heart their opening/ending themes (count me as one of the guilty! hehehe:D ). But they weren't "anime music freaks". They just simply liked these songs. We all appreiciate good music, no matter if the lyrics are in a language we can't understand. Music is a "universal language", anyway, right? :)

The music in anime really captures the spirit of the, uh, anime it covers. Right on the mark. I also find the female singers in anime music kinda cute-sounding (like "It's Gonna Rain!"), soothing, (the last song of a Boys Be episode) and kinda energizing (like Slam Dunk's last song).

I used to maintain a list of all my Anime MP3 and a friend of mine would give it to that anime rental shop near BF Parañaque, and people would order their custom list and I would then make the compilation...including cd labels and cd sleeves that where quite professional looking...in full color pa nga...kodak golds pa yung cdrs at clear plastic ang buong case....I had watermark inlays also...so that the cd's label would match the inside print of the cd sleeve label....(very troublesome work...but so cool to see)...

ah, well... I had my friend take over the business coz I'm too busy at work na...

Anyway, it shouldn't be that hard for you to find some friends of yours who have CD-RW drives. Depending on the drive speed, you'll only take up 4-8 minutes to burn an entire 80-minute CD-R (the extra song is worth it compared to a 74-min CD-R).

Better yet, if you REALLY want to build up your own collection, then why not get a CD Writer yourself? A 8x4x24 CD-RW drive goes for 3K (even less) now.

I've recently bought Trigun's 1st and 2nd Donuts. These two are way cool! The soundtracks have only two songs (both from 1st Donut and another one that seems to be background music with humming), and the rest are BGMs. The second donut has some original music as well as some skits. I've found translations for some of them, and they are all hilarious!

Other great soundtracks I like include the RK and Ranma soundtracks.

This is interesting! =) I never knew so many people liked anime soundtracks... Currently, I have the Initial-D 1st stage, 2nd stage, Super Euro and Vocal Collection non-stop playing in my car. It's really great driving music! At home I usually relax to the Evangelion CDs as well as Slayers, Slayers Next and the Original Bubblegum Crisis (NOT 2040!!!) soundtracks. Hmm... come to think of it, it seems I listen to most of Megumi Hayashibara's songs... (Voice actress for Ranma-chan, Lime, Rei Ayanami, Lina Inverse, Video Girl Ai, the blonde Chiharu in Boys Be and lots more...)

There are lots of very catchy tunes out there from the anime world. The Gatekeepers soundtrack is pretty good. Saber Marionette is also very upbeat and "happy". If you want relaxed music you can try the Oh! MY Goddess, Fruits Basket or the NOIR soundtracks, those are way cool!

For those who burn their own CDs, the Plextor 12/10/32x IDE is great! 5 mins for a 700MB CD. More than 1000 CDs and no coasters yet! Really cheap too, about P7K.

Anyway, enjoy the music! I'm off to watch more anime'!!! =)

The Rock's been downloading a lot of anime MP3s recently, but mostly of the classic variety. Themes from UFO Grendaizer, Daimos, Yamato (Star Blazers), and Star Rangers (or GoRanger in Japan), all sung by the inimitable Isao Sasaki.:socool: The Rock was lucky enough to see Sasaki's live performance at the end of the Shin Getta Robo OAVs and the man hasn't lost a step as far as his voice goes.

Also, The Rock's downloaded Ichiro Mizuki's theme songs for Combattler V and Mazinger Z, and Hironobu Kageyama's Shin Getta Robo and Dragonball Z themes. Sa mga mas bago, nakuha ko rin ang Cruel Angel Thesis ng Evangelion, the themes from Escalfowne, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, El Hazard, Sol Bianca, Ranmna 1/2, You're Under Arrest, and of course, Slam Dunk.;)

what can you say about SonMay cd's? does anyone here agree that SonMay products shouldnt be bought? I tried emailing anima anime and asked if sonmay products (cd's) are prohibited by Japanese companies and asked if owning Sonmay products is illegal he said that it's not a crime to own these materials cause Japanese companies that make them doesnt care if their products (cd's) are copied cause he said that in Japan there is no piracy (zero piracy) and that Sonmay products are meant for Taiwan market do you agree? if so why does so many websites telling that dont buy SonMay products? they are darn GOOD and almost just like the original, same quality and the prints are almost the same the price is just like normal original cd's (P450) unlike the original that cost about $25.50 (P1250.00)

Yep,I was lucky enough to buy a double CD in greenhills. Pirated lang nga. Nabulgar na tuloy age mo dahil sa akin...I kinda like the voice of Hironobu Kageyama and Ichiro Mizuki.

Fields of Love -ED theme of Brain Powerd, by Kokia - Yet another Kanno piece sung by someone with a beautiful voice.
Wild Wind, Dance Remix (Hiei and Kurama) from Yuu Yuu Hakusho-Ah, this is an old favorite..kinanta ata to sa anime karaoke contest in UP :P
Kiseki no Hana, Ryousuke and Keisuke Takahashi, Initial D. Don't tell me that was Glay singing it at the end of the series? Another one Koyasu fans will like. More for girls, since it is a ballad after all.
Rurouni Kenshin OAV 1 OST has classical music and is great mood music, good for serious collectors.
Waiting For You, Bubblegum Crisis 2040 ED. I dunno who sang this, but its good. Priss was supposed to have sung it in the anime.
Duvet in Serial Experiments Lain. Okay, okay, so it's been overplayed and mentioned too much, but I still like it.
Heart of Sword and 1/3 Junjou no Kanjou, Rurouni Kenshin TV Series, 97(?) I still think these two are the best tracks of the lot, and best "anime" style ED themes I've heard.

Last but not least, the entire Initial D soundtrack except for some idiotic songs. If you like DDR/Bustamove tracks it'll fit right in. Oddly it includes a wide variety of western-produced songs old and new, from Blue Sun to Yellow Brick Road by Elton John -_- weird...

Rage your Dream, Around The world, Blazing Beat are favorites.
Wings of Fire- by girl-hashiriyas Mako and Sayuki.
Words of The Mind- sounds pretty trance-y, was the only song I liked at first..
Nexxus - from Initial D and the Groove soundtrack along with this song.
Gamble Rumble, Fly Me To The Moon (Spiders from Mars), In memories, Race Is Over, Streets of Fire, Running In the 90's, Love and Money - are all on my "must burn to cd" list.

Gag Nakazato and you have it made. FujiwaraTofu is right (and maybe we're biased) but it's been called a revolution in anime sound since it's tuned in to modern Tokyo, and Rage your Dream was #1 on the hit charts in Japan for months. Great driving music, but don't try any stunts for the love of the car gods, parang napapabilis ka ng takbo dito..Initial D Stage 2 and the Movie (stage 3) have extremely good tracks, including some by Every Little Thing, Spiders from Mars, Considering how hard it is to hook pop stars for anime OSTs because of their image, well...

Takehito Koyasu is officially my favorite seiyuu. Why? Not because of Touga, or Hotohori, but because of Takahashi Ryosuke on Initial D. I dislike Initial D quite a lot. Car racing bores me. Takumi bores me. Mogi bores me. Even the Takahashi brothers aren't very interesting...but because of that voice, when Ryosuke talks, I listen. I need to get a drama CD by him or something... -off someone's blog

BGMs are background musics. yup they are the instrumentals. u can use audiogalaxy to download bgms.

i have recently been listening to utada hikaru, who is hailed by newsweek/time as "one of the best and brightest young pop stars today." very intelligent and addicting pop. mr. children and aiko are also some very notable jpop/jrock musicians.

i notcied most j-artists like incorporating english lyrics into their songs, yung tipong 1-2 lines in almost every stanza. they really do want to practice their english :) even though their english is something to smile about sometimes, we can't deny that when they set out to do something, they make sure it's of the BEST quality, whether it's manga, anime, technology, music or food!!!

Anyway I like Love is Changing better than the other one. I just don't like Zutto Kimino Sobade's melody...
