Our thread title, “Cook Out, On The Lookout” is derived from Neal Tiemann’s MySpace status sometime during the 2nd week of January. There are two schools of thought as to what Neal was referring to: (1) David and band scouting for colleges venues for their upcoming Declaration Tour; or (2) The fact that David is now single and ready to mingle. (And there was hushed silence all throughout Cookistadom. Yeah, right!)

Midway through American Idol season 4, David Cook already had a strong, vocal following whom he earned through sheer talent and hard work, but at the time it was a well-known fact that he was not the Chosen One. All through the thread, more and more fans joined in the fray, dedicated enough to log in hundreds and hundreds of votes from across cyberspace. By the end of the thread, we already had our American Idol.

picklesprite, The current HDD grouping of #5 - #9 is only separated by about 800 points, which at this point is a pittance. Those positions could easily change at this point. There are also some heavy hitters below DCTR that others have mentioned like Twilight (now #3 iTunes, #2 Amazon) and Slumdog Millionaire (now #2 iTunes, #8 Amazon) that I wouldn't be surprised to see move up the chart. I'm still hoping DC is able to stay in the Top 10, but Top 15 would be good too.

So thanks to the wonder that is my TiVo Wishlist function, I recorded David Cook's Hitlist on MTV Hits today. It's an hour of his favorite music videos, with introductions by him. According to my TiVo, it'll be on again tonight at 7pm, so...now, 3AM and then 8AM on Wednesday! Haven't watched it yet, but the first video is From Yesterday by 30STM. Don't know if anyone has posted about this before, so if so, let me know and I can delete this.

I'm uploading David's Myxellaneous interview na. I'm gonna post it in a couple of minutes. Yung first part nung feature nila kay David ay yung behind the scenes footage found on his Amazon page (which I recorded pero hindi ko na iuupload since sa Amazon naman yung clip na yon). But the interview naman seems exclusive although he didn't mention anything new. So yeah, yung interview lang yung inuupload ko.

Good evening y'all. I'm watching the Obama inauguration, how about you?

Sana may HDD numbers update. Haaaay. Pero eto na lang, if I'm not mistaken, last week, first update had DC at 8,000+ and he ended up just shy of 20,000. So I think it's looking good for him to go past 20,000. Just how far above is the question. I don't think we're going to see him at 30,000 but it would not be a total surprise if ever. The good thing about him hitting 30,000 is that he will only need 10,000 next week to hit 900K.

What's going to be really interesting is for how long the AI/Kimmel bump will hold. If I'm not mistaken, he's going down the charts already, which is not a surprise since the bumps are supposed to be only good for 3-4 days. As it is, he's been doing well for more than 5 days already. My real time feed is still showing DCTR at #9 and LO at #12.

In any case, he's looking good for 900K when he gets back from his USO tewer and for platinum before the end of March.

Another thing that should be considered is that he might get new bumps from a single release which according to projections will happen sometime in February.

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIRST REPORT FROM MR. RMH

I went back to my room to get my camera, and on the way back I went by the stage to see if they were there setting up yet. They're all set up, and I saw DC walking back towards the stage from the basketball court. There weren't many people around, so I walked over and said hi. He shook my hand and I congratulated him on his victory. We chatted for a few minutes, he asked where I was from, and said one of his band members was from Colorado. The guy asked if I was a Bronco's fan, and of course, I said no, and DC said he was happy to hear that. LOL The guitar player (can't remember his name - heavily tattooed) was sitting down. I got a picture with him and one with DC. I mentioned that you're a huge fan and that you had even written to him (guitar player). He asked where I was from, and then he said Boulder, right? So, he's read your emails and knew who you were. He had a big smile. He has a fan! LOL Actually, that's what DC said to him. I'll take more pictures tonight and upload them to my laptop, then send them to you. But I thought you'd like to know that I've already met them both, shaken their hands, and gotten my picture taken with them. In daylight! And without a bunch of other people around. Who knows what it will be like tonight.

ETA: here's a second email ps.
And I meant to tell you, the skies finally cleared up and the temp got up to 62 as of 3pm. Still, it will get cold fast once the sun goes down around 5:30pm.

And it looks like he is the entire show. I didn't ask him how long the show was. Actually, I didn't even think about asking him that.

Now about that Sony poll. Don't sweat it. If you read between the lines when I first posted about it - I specifically mentioned that one can easily increase the votes by clearing your cookies and voting repeatedly. I don't know what Sony will do with the results, but I am sure they are not stupid enough to make any decisions based on a poll that can easily be spammed. What, there are far better and more reliable indicators of popularity and/or marketability out there (most of which we do not have access to). If I were to study the patterns that poll has taken, and read through all the comments, I'd be making all sorts of inferences, and most won't be about marketability.
