Lady Tamaraws gore Lady Archers

Surviving with the skin of their teeth, the FEU Lady Tamaraws finally win against La Salle Lady Archers. It couldn't have come at a better time, the defending champions playing like there was no tomorrow gave their best and it has proved to be successful.

In front of a massive screaming crowd of over 5,000 volleyball fans at the Arena in San Juan, FEU survives La Salle in 5 sets, 25=16, 25-27, 21-25, 26-24, 15-10.

As expected, the finals was a nail biter and a down the wire game. Both teams never giving up, and both teams want to bring the win to their school. But only one team could win this game day and that team was FEU.

I have never seen FEU play like this this season. FEU team captain Rachel Anne Daquis led FEU but it was Mecaila Irish May Morada, Cherry May Vivas and Shaira Gonzalez who was the biggest thorns for La Salle.

Successful motivation of FEU coach Nestor Pamilar and Asst. Jeremry Flo Pedregosa was also key for this victory, after all, they were facing a strong team that everybody thought was undefeatable. FEU proved that if they worked hard for the win, they would ultimately succeed.

It was such a nice game to watch, on offense, FEU spikers Mecaila Irish May Morada and Shaira Gonzales matched well with Jaqueline Alarca and Stephanie Mercado. On defense, La Salle played slightly better having more blocks with Charleen Abigail Cruz and Michelle Datuin at the helm against FEU's Rachel Ann Daquis and Cherry May Vivas. But ultimately, even if La Salle had more blocks,
they still wished they had won the game.

On the digging department, FEU's Rose Ann Taganas and La Salle's Melissa Gohing neutralized each other with the same number of digs. It was FEU's Mecaila Irish May Morada and La Salle's Manilla Santos that made the difference for each team in the digs department.

On the battle of the setters. FEU's April Linor Jose played more effectively than La Salle's Ma. Klarissa Martinez.

The finals series has become more exciting. FEU has a psychological advantage now. But With their season on the line, and La salle having to watch the game tape of this match, and the La Salle coaching staff breaking the game down on how to face FEU next time, we expected the series to be much exciting than this one come next game day...

UST Lady Tigers smother FEU Lady Tams .
It looked like a championship game with the fans and the level of play so intense.
In all honesty, for an ordinary game, it was a big crowd. A massive 1,826 spectators were in the Arena in San Juan to watch two great teams battle it out on the volleyball court.
Never say die UST Lady Tigers proved to be too much for the FEU Lady Tamaraws .
UST smothers FEU in four very close sets, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 27-25. The game was long and very gruelling as it lasted almost two hours.
UST’s offense was led by three superstars, Michelle Carolino who had 20, Mary Jean Balse had 19, and team captain Aiza Maizo had 14. UST coach Cesael Delos Santos and asst. Norman Miguel had very tense moments in almost all sets but their complete confidence on the UST team was very evident.
FEU’s losing effort on the other hand had their offense anchored on five players, volleyball goddess
Rachel Anne Daquis had 18,
Mecaila Irish May Morada had 16,
Mayeth Carolino had 14,
Cherry May Vivas and
Shaira Gonzales both had 11 points. FEU coach Nestor Pamilar and asst. Jeremy Flo Pedregosa could not believe that they weren’t able to get the fourth set and go for a deciding fifth even as Rachel Ann Daquis and Shaira Gonzalez tried her best to push it to the limit.
FEU as a team had more spikes than UST 58-46. FEU Lady Tam Rachel Ann Daquis led the spiking department with 15 along with UST’s Michelle Carolino who also had 15 spikes,
UST had a better defensive effort for this game than FEU 11-7. Monster superstar Aiza Maizo led on defense with 4 blocks and Mary Jean Balse had 3 blocks.
FEU had more digs as a team compared to UST 40-32. FEU Lady Tam’s Rose Ann Taganas had 11 and Ms. 100% Shaira Gonzalez had 10.
On the battle of the setters, FEU’s Tina Salak has a little more effective individually than her UST counterpart, Rhea Dimaculangan 41-39. Although UST had more sets as a team than FEU 59-42.

Tinuldukan ng Lady Tamaraws ang kampanya sa single round eliminations sa ligang itinataguyod ng Shakey’s Pizza Parlor sa kartadang 5-2 panalo-talo sa likod ng nang mga naunang sumulong na University of Santo Tomas (6-1) at SSC na(5-1), habang nalagak sa maselang senaryo niya ang ADMU sa pangatlong talo sa pitong salang.
Nakarekober ang Lady Eagles sa makupad na si*mula para magkatsansang bahagya pa rin sa quarterfinals sa torneong binabalangkas ng Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. sa pagsara sa tangang 4-3.
Subalit ang pag-asang makaakyat sa huling puwesto sa QF ay nakadepende pa sa magiging resulta ng labanan ng defending champion Adamson University at Baste,nagpapang-abot pa habang isinusulat ang balitang ito.
Kapag nanaig ang Lady Falcons (4-2), laglag ang Loyola Heights-based volleybelles habang ang panalo ng Lady Stags ay maghuhulma ng playoff sa ADMU-AdU para sa hu*ling QF slot sa Linggo.
Sasamahan ang apat na koponan sa quarters ng tourney na suportado ng Accel Mikasa at OraCare, ng University of San Jose-Recoletos ng Cebu City at ng University of Saint La Salle ng Bacolod City.

Yeah, at nakikini kinita ko na kung sino ang ipapalit sa kanya. Yung bagong SEMANA sa team. Kasi nung mga latter parts ng Season 71 nilalagay siya for defense, parang si Angel Vasquez ng Adamson.

Pero malay rin natin, since baka nag re recruit pa si Coach Ness.
