Napansin ko lang na wala pang dedicated thread for UST WVT this season (puro individual lang). Thus, the creation of this thread. Played with the title na rin para hindi masyadong generic ang dating. :)

The young team is now gradually (and surely) discovering their true form and identity. Nanunumbalik na ang intimidation factor (not yabang factor, ha) ng USTe. Glad about it.

Can't wait to see the YouTube of UST-DLSU match. I've been reading the threads in USTNet and instead of disappointments, parang positive pa 'yung mga bagay na nakikita nila sa team kahit natalo.

Sana nga mag-peak na sila during the competition. May habol pa sa final four. Mas maganda 'yung paganda nang paganda ang laro kaysa sa nagpa-plateau (in all areas- skills, chemistry, maturity, etc.)

Ayos na rin 'yung mga ganitong frustration sa team para lalo silang maging motivated magpanalo ng laro. They will soon have that killer instinct. Mamamanhid na.

Yeap! Para ngang Barangay Ginebra ng volleyball (Barangay Santo Tomas).

Hindi naman siguro nabawasan, medyo may nanahimik lang ng konti.

Ang napapansin kong nangyayari sa fans, UST ang "mother team" nila. Kung nalalagay sa alanganin (like wala sa finals), magtsi-cheer muna sila sa ibang team na napupusuan nila. Pero balik-USTe pa rin sila. :D

compared to last UAAP Season, nakikita ko na yun improvement ni Hannah both offensively and defensively, sa blocking halimaw na talaga siya, iba na kasi ang matangkad hehe... napansin ko sa kanya this year, especially in the last few games ng UST WVT, she improved tremendously sa digs... offensively naman, she's beginning to score a couple of points on attacks via quick sets ni Rhea, um-ok na ang timing niya when the sets are good, what she needs to improve on ay yun mag-adjust siya in sets na di maganda...

over-all for me, hannah is doing well this season... :)
basta practice lang ng practice!!! hehehe

di ko ata matandaan na ginawang middle hitter si denise last year...

di ko lang matandaan kung last year or las last year, na interview pa nga si Venus kung anong adjustments ang gnwa nila since may injury si hannah, yun nga sabi nya alalayan daw nila si denise as middle hitter.

Meron din time na si Venus nag middle hitter, tapos may isang rookie (forgot the name) ang pumalit sa open...:naughty:

It's getting more and more exciting. Unti-unting nagpi-peak ang players ng USTe. Ano na lang kaya ang mangyayari kung sabay-sabay silang pumutok? Sana mangyari 'yun sa laro nila against FEU, AdU and ADMU. They have to sweep all remaining games.

Pointers:

1. Good reception
2. Tight net and floor defense
3. Intelligent ball setting
4. Presence of mind
5. Communication
3. PUSO

Hindi ko na sinama ang opensa, given na 'yun. Magagaling attackers natin.

guys, kelan nagstart maglaro si Aiza Maizo sa UST? i remember before seeing Mance nung nandiyan pa si balse, bernal, and tabaquerro. si maizo di ko ata matandaan. pero she's doing very well!

i also like Mance. pwedeng maging balse successor.

Maizo started season 68. Naglaro din sya season 69 (UST was the champion that season). She skipped last season kaya ngayon pang 3rd playing year palang nya. Nung andyan pa si Balse, Bernal at Tabaquero, 4th option lang sya parati eh pero look at her now.

great effort by UST, but set 5 mattered the most. wala lang yung panalo ng UST by set1-2 dahil talo pa din sila sets-3-5. errors talaga ng UST killed them and seeing their 6-1 set5 lead blow. They will look at the mirror and reflect what could have been that's for sure.

Wow... Kahit alam kong replay ang mapapanood ko sa YouTube, at alam kong talo ang USTe, nae-excite pa rin akong panoorin ito based on the scores and how people reacted here in PEx. It's like a feel-good lost (a-la UST-DLSU).

Definitely it's not the end of the world. I believe that they will peak in the Final 4 which is a good timing. It will only take one win against team number 1 or 2 to get the momentum rolling. 'Pag nakuha na nila ang game 1, parang inahin na rin sa kanila ang game 2. They are in a situation now where they could say "we've lost enough, it's time to win it all." Tumalas na ang pangil, so to speak. Mas nakakatakot.

I think they're ready.

Pumutok na si Caballejo at last. So, pwede na silang magsabay-sabay nina Maizo, Ortiz at Co. May mga napatunayan na sila individually (including Rhea, of course!, Kim and Mance). Consolidation na lang ang kulang. They're slowly but surely getting there.

such a hearthbrealing lost for ust, i thought sila magpapakita sa FEU na hindi nila pwede gawin sa kanila ang ginawa nila sa LASALLE at ADMU, but through my dissapointment, but still it was a nice game, ORTIZ (the finisher) must have use to end the game except for cabbalejo, IMO, medyo nagmadali lang si Maizo sa huli which cause two error to tied it.the game, nonetheless it was a great game for them unlike their play against DLSU, magagmit nila yun for ADMU at ADU game, kailanga nilka matalo ang mga ito para masecure ang fourth spot, hindi ginamit si tan coz mas reliable ang mga sets ni DMAC,
hope the end of round two end in this way:
1. FEU
2. DLSU
3. ADU
4.UST

UST has a better chance to make it to the finals if they are going to battle FEU instead of lasalle, that goes LASALLE - UST in the finals.

great comeback for the two teams plus, a revenge for UST to FEU since FEU boosted out UST in the finals last year.

Bernal and Balse have used up their years of eligibility playing in the UAAP while Tabaquero decided to focus on her studies this semester, that's why hindi siya naka line up this year

you'll see them in the games ng UST WVT once in a while, nun sunday nanood si Vhen nun game...

Yeah. Her Royal Highness. We can't avoid it. But what important is, her legacy remains in the team. It is a source of pride and inspiration for the rookies and for the veterans who are playing and still playing for the team. We lose Bernal and we saw Caballejo, we lose Tabaquero (hopefully next year she'll be back) then we saw Bernice, we lose Balse and her presence in the team but we can still feel it as Aiza Maizo steps up for the team. We still have a good reliable blockers - Ortiz-Mance-Maizo combo. We have a good quick hitter - Ortiz. We have strong setters Tan-Dimaculangan. We may lose the players that gives pride and heart to the team but that pride and heart will continue to live on because that is what UST WVT is made of.

nun first round vs ue, the girls were still adjusting to their roles in the team, they were somehow struggling at that point of the tournament after losing to both DLSU and AdU in straight sets, and there was one set na UST won that went down the wire, 26-24... UE is no push over, maganda ang floor defense nila, im sure our UST WVT won't take this game lightly, chance na nila ito to give ADMU the "semi-boot" hehe!

now that the team has adjusted, Bernice and Judy now contributing offensively, Maika effective at the middle, Aiza unstoppable offensively and defensively, and with Rhea's superb setting, the UST WVT will give the team from Recto tomorrow a good fight, much better than the 1st round...

now that the team is entering an important phase in the competition, they should understand that every game is important. wala silang dapat inauunderestimate, dahil to be frank, wala pa silang karapatan--hindi kung kunwari nasa team pa sila mj, vhen, at ange. pero hindi talaga maganda 'yung habit na 'yun.

masaya pa rin ako dahil nanalo sila at pasok na sila ngayon sa f4. sana mas maging intense pa sila and less-error prone sa mga upcoming games nila.

ok na ok. if i remember right, 3 points ata kaagad ang na-contribute pagkapasok niya. she has already stepped up her game. but she can't carry the tigresses alone.

Bernice should display more power to intimidate her defenders. and Caballejo should be more consistent at bawasan ang attack errors.

kahit na isang set lang ang nilaro ni Aiza, she still managed to score at least 5 points on attacks (wala pa yun sa blocks diyan) from my own count as i was watching the game on tv... hopefully, the 5 day rest will help Aiza recover fully...

malabo talaga si Vida maglaro in UST's remaining games, kung makapaglaro man siya malamang she's not in her usual form being in the sidelines for the past three months...

im happy to see both the UST WVT and UST MVT qualify for the Final Four this season! wtg UST Volleyball!!!

I think UST has the worst libero. (I'M FROM UST) Or I think pinaka-kabado. Sayang din si Denise. Grabe, kung nakapaglaro lang yung ibang mga players, siguro mas maganda record natin. Pero anyways, maganda pa rin naman pinapakita ng UST WVT. :) Medyo pangit lang yata na habit yung third set kanina against NU, parang tinamad kasi sila. :|

i guess only the coaching staff knows the answer sa tanong niyo na bakit iba-iba ang libero ng UST... perhaps one answer to that question would be, nagkaroon kasi ng knee injury si Kim sometime in the start of this year, that's when Michelle came in as the libero of the team

ang galing nila kanina. kahit down sila ng ilang points at set point na ang AdU di sila bumigay and eventually nakuha pa nila yung set na yun. Everyone contributed to help Maizo sa scoring. Its nice to see Co hitting much harder now compare to her previous games. Mance made several spikes which were converted into points. Del Rosario made a good reception and digs lalo na nung 4th set. Si Rhea was excellent in her sets. At kahit nagerror na mga spikers, ibinabalik niya ulit ang bola sa nagerror na spiker para mag make up at mabalik yung kumpiyansa sa sarili. Maizo was really excellent. From attacking to blocking pati digs nandun siya palagi. Mas maganda mga quick hits ni Ortiz kanina. Caballejo made alot of erros kanina pero she did contributed in scoring din naman. Ang galing nila kanina. Kahit career high ni Angela Benting kanina, pinakita parin ng UST ang bangis nila. Kung every game nagiimprove ang UST, malaki ang chances naten for another UAAP WV finals appearance...

New member po ako. This coming match dapat maging maingat ang UST, surely ang ADU may planong ibalik ang panalo nila. Naging effective ang blocks ng UST dahil hindi pa ginagamit ng ADU ang "gilid-gilid" attacks ni soriano at "gulang" sneaky attacks naman ni gustillo, at syempre si benting. Hopefully mapag-aralan ng Tigers ang round 1 match nila, it will be very helpful for them kasi "at peak" ang performance ng ADU nun. Dapat naaanticipate na rin sana ng Tigers na dedepensahan talaga ngayon si Capt Maizo, kasi siya talaga ang nagpatumba sa Falcons... Lastly sana sensitive si Coach sa time-out, pinapahabol pa kasi niya ang kalaban o kaya nagti-tie na ang scores at tsaka siya magtitime-out... Sana rin ipractice pa nila ng maayos si Del Rosario sa receive, mas magaling pa ang libero sa NU sa kanya. Nothing personallly against her. But she really really needs to learn how to dig more, receive more!

i think nafigure out na ni Coach Shaq sa laban nila against ADU ang problem ng kanilang team aside from floor defense.

Which i definitly agree. - IMO

Sinabi ito ni coach nung 3rd set nung game na yun kung saan set point na ang ADU 24-21. I think narealize yun nga mga players and from thereon lumakas ang loob nila, even Mance whom I think cant even pull of a hard spike but she did.

I think more confidence, from the players, they have all the advantages against adu,

Hannah Mance is slowly getting better. Before she was like the missing link in the team. She's tall and she can do more than blocking. Pero di siya masyoadong nauutilize sa attacks.

Sana mas mag improve pa siya dahil starting wednesday puro important games na and a must win for UST. Mas maganda ang laro ng team kung maganda laro niya.

Guys, support tayo lahat sa team. I saw the thread of adamson, it seems they want to spark some rally to slow and weak the morale of the Lady Tigers tomorrow. The team needs our cheer. They need their fans and their fellow thomasians support. Whatever may happen, we got to do what we did last saturday again, or even better one (louder rally) to intimidate the enemy. Victory is what the team deserve tomorrow. We got to wake the Sleeping Giant (UST Lady Tigers) from its long sleep... As one of their fans and also a thomasian, I need help to spread this message. excited na ako sa game later this afternoon...nervous? konti lang...malakas ang confidence ko sa tigresses, i'm sure anticipated na ni coach shaq ang adjustments na gagawin ng lady falcons. more power hits from maizo and co na rin (bumabagsik palo nya), quicker ni ortiz, confidence ni and for mance, magandang distribution and variations from d-mac and , hopefully, tan, less error from judy, and excellent receives from del rosario....on to the finals! although di maririnig ang cheers ko dahil hanggang tv lang ako, i'm sure maririnig naman ni Lord ang prayers ko....;)

Galing 3 sets lang kanina! Pwede na nilang sabihin "We're Even" lamang lang kami ng 3 sets hahaha, Iba na vibe nila kanina, ibang-iba kaysa nung una, na tinatawag sila pa silang "kuting" sa ibang teams. Sana lang hindi sila maiiintimidate sa FEU at DLSU para manalo, kasi they really deserve to be the "CHAMP". Para bang pinilit talaga nlang makabangon from a bad start, kahit ang dami pa nilang adjustments sa position nila, walang kayabang-yabang pinapanalo each game. Lalo pa kay Capt, na malamang na prepressure rin dahil ang daming nagdoubt sa leadership niya. Hindi siya naging halimaw kanina pero naging leader na talaga, kaya lahat ng teammates may gana. Sana continue pa nila ginagawa nila, sabi nga ng coach ng ADMU nung kalaban nila DLSU, "If you want to win against the strongest team, you need to act like a winner."

Maganda ang game kanina. You can see in their scores that it is well distributed for Co-Ortiz-Maizo, which proves na maganda ang teamwork kanina. Naglaro si Denise Tan kanina at nakapagset pa siya ng isang combination play at isang quick.

They have proven that the 3rd spot is rightfully belongs to them.

They are now Sleeping Giants no more.

Congratulations to this team. Start pa lang ng season I wasn't expecting too much pero you girls proved me wrong. Though wala na sina Balse, Bernal and Tabaquero, naandyan pa rin ang winning form ng team. Entering the final four is more than enough for me. Pero syempre who wouldn't want to enter the Finals? Wishful thinking lang naman, basta, manalo or matalo man sa Sunday, masaya nako. :)

YUP *okay* same sentiments here. UST entering in the Final Four is more than enough for me. And from what they have accomplished during the regular season, i know they can be at par with the Top 2 teams above them.

They are all peaking up in the time when it matters most. Rookies are playing with all their hearts. And the vets are now contributing. Plus, a team captain, Aiza Maizo, that really carried the team. She was doubted to continue Balse's leadership. But now, i am proud to say that never be threathen if FEU has Daquis or DLSU has Santos, coz we have AIZA MAIZO !!!

nakakatuwa isipin nun first round nun december the team was somehow struggling, nag-aadjust pa sila sa new roles nila sa team, i have to say that the xmas vacation (well, sa kanila di talaga vacation, dahil tuloy ang practice pa din nila) was the turning point in their UAAP campaign... since the year started unti-unting nagpeak ang laro ng team, ang taas na ng confidence nila ngayon, that they can win big games and they're working now as a team
