anyway, whither denise tan? i saw her play at the v-league and thought she has improved by leaps and bounds so i was surprised to her benched in favor of rhea. there's no arguing with success though, as rhea showed she was up to the challenge, except for some stretches in the second and fourth sets.

having two top setters is a luxury most other teams (feu, adu) can only dream of and is a nice problem to have, but seeing denise sit on the bench is just a waste.

this lady is the reason why my fascination towards women's volleyball was rekindled.

my friend re-introduced me to women's volleyball, after years of having missed on the whatabouts of soriano, tan and daquis. we went to the arena (for my first ever live game) just to once again have a general appreciation of volleyball and its beauties. ust would be up against ateneo that afternoon.

eto'ng eksena: friend and i were by the ringside's entrance, about to get in. ball rolls towards us, tigress tailing. friend picks up the ball, then tosses. tigress catches, but keeps eyes on the ball. tigress then glances towards the court, as if saying that their up next.

and that's when she took my breath - that moment when she casually looked up the scoreboard.

was it how she simply tilts her chin? or how she leans to catch a glimpse of the court? was it how she seemed so delicate, and so inelaborate, yet handling the ball as though there's concealed power throbbing in her palms?

sino ang babaeng ito? i asked myself in enchantment. what a beauty.

Co. #10 - the only answers i got from the back of her jersey at that time, as she trots deeper down the corridor towards her pack. i would learn later in the game that the tigress is bernice. and that she has the power, more so if she works even harder on it.

and up until now, i'm still aching to learn more about her.
