Mukhang false alarm ito.

Ang alam ko sa Dec. 16 pa ang announcement.

My opinion may be bias, but I think AU, if we will talk about a good sports program is very much qualified. But if EAC will be the one, then lets respect the Mancom's decision.

Chiefs ready to meet 'NC' requirements
Updated November 18, 2008 12:00 AM
philstar.com

The National Collegiate Athletic Association board recently visited applicant Arellano University and found the Legarda-based school ready to meet some, if not all, the necessary requirements needed to be accepted as the league’s newest member.

Members of the NCAA Management Committee chaired by Ding Lozano of Mapua had a positive response on the Chiefs’ readiness to join the oldest, prestigious league in the land today.

“There are some things Arellano would need to improve but we also found many good and positive things about them,” said Lozano.

Val Cayco, Arellano’s marketing chief who is also personally overseeing the school’s athletic program, said they are ready to provide all the requirements needed to join the 84-year-old league.

“Two of the three basic requirements are the entrance fee amounting somewhere around P7 million and the applicants need to have a high school. We both have it,” said Cayco.

The third one, and probably the most important of the requirements, is for the applicant to participate in all 10 sporting events the first three seasons without fail.

“Of the 10 sports, we have existing programs in basketball, volleyball, taekwondo, judo, swimming and chess and we’re in the process of laying the foundation on other events including track and field,” said Cayco.

Fil-Am seeks justice vs. basketball players

A 20-year-old Filipino-American student, who is in the country for her mother’s medical treatment, is seeking speedy justice after he was mauled by a group of varsity players of the Emilio Aguinaldo College on July 2.

Jericho Santos and his family, presently billeted at Room 1008 of the Pearl Manila, General Luna Street, Ermita, Manila, went to the Manila Police District-Press Corps office to seek help in serving justice to the varsity players who ganged up on him, namely Nino Lapuz, Argel Mendoza, Ruel Jabaybay, Claude Cubo, Dhan Diolante, Jeff Galang, Jeffrey Lapitan, Lowell Yaya, Arjay del Rosario, Raymond Pasaol, Emmanuel Mbe and Romeo Fotue.

Attempted murder charges were filed against all the accused on July 14 before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.

Santos said on July 2, he was having a breakfast at the Seven Seas restaurant located at the 9th floor of the hotel, when five people, whom he identified as Jabaybay, Diolante, Lapuz, and Mendoza arrived and sat behind him.

Santos said that someone, for no apparent reason, hit his chair that prompted him to ask the group behind him as to who did it.

“What I received from them were only mean looks,” Santos said.

At around 10:30 a.m, Santos went to an Internet café located across the hotel. As soon as he got out of the hotel lobby, he sensed trouble.

“Lapuz uttered some words in Filipino that I could not understand,” Santos said.

“Then there was pushing, and slapping and they grabbed me,” Santos explained, adding he was mauled and had to be confined for 12 days at the Manila Doctors’ Hospital.

The players in their counter-affidavit claimed that they have been suspended from seven to 14 days in school activities.

Santos’, brother, John Raymond Sablan, said the suspects are still at-large.

The victim’s mother, Dr. Cecilia Lamkin, said they have been visiting the country every six months for the past four years because she is undergoing medical treatment.

“This is the first time we’ve experienced this kind of treatment in four years,” she explained.

It is not the school who mauled the victim. Give EAC a break. Mababait naman mga PT na grad dyan eh kahit pa ang tawag sa kanila eh "the rapist".
