But what school will Coach Leo choose? You can't serve two masters, or two schools for that matter. It's either the Chiefs or the Cardinals. ;)

^Is that their Battlecry...HOLA Chiefs?
And what would be their school colors?
If they retain and play with their present roster, they might just give the NCAA perrenial powerhouse teams a run for their money...maraming pahihirapan ang team na ito.
NCAA' Letran Knights lost by a big margin in their summer FMC finals, and again winning against UAAP' Feu Tams in the just concluded FMC tournament.
Arellano Chiefs...the NCAA teams await you...Bring it on!

ang tanong dito kung mareretain ang mga players to play if ever, from what i know most of the players are over the age limit... and in the history of the ncaa wala pang rookie team ang nakapagdominate agad agad sa liga. pero nonetheless kung kayo nga ang matanggap eh welcome....

As for the school color, I would very much suggest na purple and red kasi color ng mga justices ang purple yung red, well, yun ang nakikita ko na ka-combination nun purple sa Legarda Campus namin.
As for the chant, "HAIL TO THE CHIEFS!" Yan kasi na ang nakasanayan namin sa Arellano University School of Law pag send off namin mga barista namin.
I am really hoping na makapasok na kami sa NCAA.

Eh sino sa Arellano?!?
Paano na kapag Arellano vs. Mapua?
that is what we have to look forward to in the event AU is indeed accepted as an NCAA member school, Leo Isaac's decision on what school to coach: the Chiefs or the Cardinals.
as of the moment there is no conflict of interest with regards to his 2coaching chores, since AU's admission is still pending. pero kung makapasok nga, coach Leo will be hard pressed to let go of one coaching duty for obvious reasons. he could either stick with the Cardinals, where he still has a live contract, or opt out of it and go with the Chiefs, which may give him a bigger coaching challenge and thrill. it is with the latter's eventuality where talks about coach Koy handling the Cards next season stems from. prior to the start of the 84th season, he was introduced as one of the Card's assistant coaches in a pep rally held at the MIT gym (even though we hardly saw him in the Mapua bench). his son also plays for the team. in the eventuality that coach Leo does leave the Cardinals' fortress for the Chiefs', uh, wigwams :D, I think coach Koy is the best man to replace him as MIT's bench tactician. of course for that to happen the MIT management and coach Leo will have to come to terms with contract opt-out or buyout. but as i've said, its still all up in the air. last time i looked, AU is still outside the NCAA circle.

Warriors, Chiefs, UL 5 in big starts
By Jasmine W. Payo
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 03:40:00 11/04/2008
MANILA, Philippines—James Martinez fueled University of the East’s late-game surge and the Warriors turned back the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 92-74, at the start Monday of the 2008 Philippine Collegiate Championship zonals at the Makati Coliseum.
Martinez buried back-to-back triples in a 14-2 UE binge with five minutes to go to seal the win that gave the Warriors the lead in Group D play.
Pari Llagas topscored with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Martinez finished with 17 markers for the Warriors, who bucked the absence of stars Marcy Arellano and Hans Thiele.
“We have at least seven players who haven’t been regularly practicing with us because they’re also practicing with their teams in the PBL [Philippine Basketball League],” said UE coach Dindo Pumaren.
Earlier, Orlando Daroya knocked in 22 points as the Arellano University Chiefs overwhelmed Region 1 champ St. Louis University, 82-36, in Group B action.
University of Luzon also gained headway in Group A after tripping Lyceum of Batangas, 79-62.
The top team in each group will earn a berth in the “Sweet 16” finals of the tournament that gathers the top varsity squads in the country.
Backstopped by the lanky Ruel Jabaybay, the Generals mounted repeated comebacks in the second half to wipe out the Warriors’ 15-point edge, 54-39, and move within four at 73-69.
Llagas and Elmer Espiritu, who chipped in 13 points, three steals and two blocks, kept the Warriors on top, before Martinez took over.
Raffy Reyes, son of ex-pro Elmer Reyes, added 10 markers, while Paul Lee delivered an all-around game of six points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals for the Warriors.
UAAP champion Ateneo de Manila University and runner-up De La Salle University and NCAA titlist San Beda College and second placer Jose Rizal University, along with four other varsity champions, clinched outright slots in the Sweet 16.

NCAA Mancom sets strict
guidelines for applicants
source: Manila Times
SCHOOLS knocking at the door of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) will have to pass through the eye of a needle before becoming the newest member of the oldest collegiate league in the land.
The NCAA Management Committee (Mancom) has set strict guidelines for applicant schools to comply with as per the standard being implemented by the 84-year-old league.
Mancom Chairman Ding Loza*no of Mapua said aspirants have to boast an existing sports program and a sound academic and student population.
Under the existing sports program, school candidates have to join all 10 NCAA events in the seniors, juniors and women’s divisions.
Appearing in the weekly PSA Forum on Tuesday at the Shakey’s UN Avenue branch, Lozano mentioned Emilio Aguinaldo College, Lyceum, Centro Escolar University, Arellano University and Angeles University Foundation among the teams that formally applied to be a member of the NCAA.
Don Bosco Mandaluyong and Technological Institute of the Philippines also sent feelers about their intention to join.
“During our meeting last October 16, the NCAA Policy Board has already asked the Mancom to make its choice as soon as possible. So we’re now in the process of evaluating the schools that applied to us formally, including personal visits to their places,” said Lozano.
Of the five applicants, the Man*com head pointed to Emilio Agui*naldo College and Lyceum as the most persistent.
By December 15, the Mancom is set to submit its wish list of three schools, which the Policy Board will choose from once it convenes before the year ends.
The chosen school however, will still have to meet certain requirements by the NCAA, among them a P5-million entry fee, a three-year probationary period and as mentioned earlier, participation in all league sports.
The school to be selected is set to take the place of Philippine Christian University, which is set to serve another round of suspension next season for unconsciously using ineligible players two years ago.
Schedule of Evaluation of New applicants
Nov. 10 - Arellano Universitysource
Nov. 13 - Lyceum of the Philippines University
Nov. 17 - Centro Escolar University
Nov. 20 - Angeles University Foundation
Nov. 24 - Emilio Aguinaldo College

There's nothing to worry for Arellano U in their upcoming battle with San Beda except maybe how the former can deliver an Indian yell of their own. The 3-peat winner San Beda is a far cry from the SSC-R Stags of the 1990s so the Red Lions are very beatable. Also, King Lion Escobal is already somewhere up there in the PBA. I won't even consider it an upset should Arellano send Frankie Lim and his troops back home after their match this coming Wednesday.

Dec 1, 2008, 06:08 PM
Who is dreaming here? Well, if I were to dream, I'd rather make it big and sensible like ATENEO GETTING BOOTED OUT. Anyway, the Blue Eagles must be stopped at all costs. They're starting to look like the dominant SSC-R teams of the 1990s (although the competition is arguably weaker this time) or the Arwind Santos-led FEU teams early on this decade. What's worse is that they're starting to look better than their 2002 UAAP Champions counterparts as far as winning is concerned and without Chris Tiu and Ryan Buenafe at that!
With regards to the upcoming San Beda-Arellano tiff, I really want to reserve my comments after the game so let's just wait for the outcome. Arellano is playing with a lot of pride and so is coach Leo Isaac. If they win, then chances are, they just might get accepted in the NCAA next year. They may even end up as the 1st NCAA rookie team to become a certified title contender. Incidentally, Big Chief Orlando Daroya wears jersey # 9 and Arellano is seriously priming up to be an NCAA member in '09. Also, Escobal is out. I know that he is not Ekwe but the Red Lions may have a big problem when the Chieftains employ their vaunted press breaks because they (Red Lions) now lack Escobal's leadership. If San Beda wins this one, then they may have little problem facing La Salle.*okay*
It would actually be nice to see La Salle and Arellano squaring up for a Finals berth. The Green Archers have beaten "Warrior teams" in the USC Warriors and the Arellano-less UE Red Warriors. If they will face the Chieftains, then that's another "warrior and human" team for them to hurdle. As for the other side of the fence, I don't care whoever wins between FEU and Letran as long as they will be able to stop Ateneo once and for all. However, I think Letran is more capable of beating Ateneo even if FEU was the team which dealt the Blue Eagles their sole loss in the UAAP last July 31, the Feast of St. Ignatius (so it's like a no-loss day for the Blue Eagles). Letran has a strong big guy named Jamieson Cortes, whom I believe is only one of two big men who can stop SSC-R's Jason Ballesteros in the NCAA. The other one is arguably Ekwe, the Red Lion from Africa. Ateneo's big guys need to be contained and I think the big guys of Letran, especially Cortes, can do that more than the big guys of FEU. Still, Letran must hurdle FEU's run and gun team first and not allow Barroca to give them a nightmare.:D

Arellano is all Daroya but the problem is he is already overaged for the NCAA. So what will the Chiefs do without their main man if they get accepted by the NCAA?
Indeed, the team has a good system in place. Nevertheless, their players are undersized for their positions and the bench is too shallow. I dont see how they can bang with the big boys of the NCAA on a regular basis.
A Chiefs line-up without the overaged Daroya can be beaten handily even by a team like Perpetual or Benilde.

ARellano ba **** ang pumasok? mas malaki yata ang possibility ng EAC, because of its gym.. thats what they say.. and they can compete on all 10 games..
Gym? So? Hindi naman dun maglalaro ang NCAA ha. :D

I believe Ferocious Lion means he is ineligible to play in the NCAA next year. 24 is the age limit.

unfortunately reports indicate that the chiefs will file a protest everytime beda parades their little indians during halftime.

Where did you get that? Well, Arellano may just bring out their Big Indian Chief during halftime against San Beda, which is fortunate to have survived their quarterfinal match.

One advantage ng Arellano is masyadong malaki at madami ang HS students nila therefore madaming maibebentang ticket ang NCAA sa HS students palang ng Arellano and if sa Cuneta ang venue next year, malapit lang sa isang HS branch ng Arellano, tricycle ride or Evengelista jeepney route nandun na mga iho't iha.

Baloney!
The owners (Cayco Family) of Arellano are Bedan alumni.
The original name of Arellano's basketball team is Flaming Arrows.
They changed it to "Chiefs" AFAIK in the late 80's or early 90's. The name "Chiefs" is a testament of the great influence of San Beda's Indian Yelling to the Caycos.

One of the Cayco's was even a Team Manager of the Red Lions in the early 80's.

Correct, Joel Loyzaga even played for Arellano Flaming Arrows in the early 80's in the Interclub and old PABL with Bonnie Carbonnel as their coach.

Sorry the name "Chiefs" was inspired by the school's name Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano, who was the first pinoy Chief justice of the Philippine Supreme Court. Di ko rin maintindihan kung bakit indian ang ginamit ng arellano as a theme for their sports program.Ang layo!!! arellano din ang unofficial extension ng College of Law ng SBC.
ipagtanong nyo lang sa mga law student community kung bakit*peace*

That's also true.
But since the mascot is not someone wearing a toga and the head dress of a chief magistrate of the Supreme Court, it is by coincidence that they also have Bedan roots hence, the mascot is an indian chief and not a Chief Justice. *okay*
