Don't worry man. . . . inaayos nalang naman yung pakikipag usap sa Admin para masimulan na talaga yung pag patent ng mga original cheers natin. Di naman natin inaangkin lahat diba dahil may mga cheers din naman tayo na adapted and some of them are Generic(Like S-B-C-A, SBCA, Animo San Beda but we stopped using it because we have the delicadeza to respect Letran since they were the ones who originally created that cheer).

Now if we have people here who could lobby it to the admin and make this issue as an issue that needs to be resolved then we could fast track this thing. All the lawyers are set to go we have lawyers just waiting for the go signal from the admin to file it.Money wouldnt be an issue coz we have an alumnus who pledge a "little" help for those who would do the job and a lot more can chip in and pay copyright fee.

As I said, registering our cheers IS NOT indispensable, as they are legally protected from the moment of their creation. (We have already discussed this requirement in the Pirates thread) There's no harm in registering them with the copyright office. We might as well overdo it.

In any event, any issue about eligibility is too early to discuss at this point because nothing is definite and any discussion on the matter will be speculative.

We have to remember also that the NCAA Mancom will decide if a particular player is eligible to play or not.

So don't worry yet. If you have issues, point it out to your school officials and if they find merit in your complaint, then they should know what to do. ;)

a good win for the boys! back to their championship form. even when sudan wasn't able to contribute, the others stepped up when needed. just shows the other teams what we've been saying all season long, Red Lion basketball is not just a Sudan Daniel show.

i was expecting a close game but foul trouble and hotheadedness did it for the knights. even before the game started the refs gathered the coaches and captains of both teams and told them that they will call it close, to prevent what happened in the first round. the knights did not adjust their brand of physical defense which resulted to a lot of fouls on their part.

hope guevarra's injury is not that serious. sad to see that kind of thing happen this late in the season.

I posted this query because I find it illogical to get another nigerian when your basketball program is one of the most well funded program and boasts of a grand slam title. SBC can easily pluck a home grown center comparable to Rabeh or Rico?

SBC can easily assemble a formidable team that can win titles without the help of a nigerian.

I posted this query because I find it illogical to get another nigerian when your basketball program is one of the most well funded program and boasts of a grand slam title. SBC can easily pluck a home grown center comparable to Rabeh or Rico?

there are some sectors in the den that shares your observation, including myself. recruiting for college basketball is a war, and naturally the more popular teams will get the lion's(ironic isn't it?:D) share of the booty. it is common knowledge that ncaa hs players will always be recruited to play for uaap teams and most of them do play for those teams. for us, we hope that our cubs does not leave the den. but the reality is they do, and we sincerely wish them well while donning other school's jerseys.

if our cubs (arguably, the best juniors program in the country), choose to play for other teams we have no option but to look elsewhere, even overseas. we cannot recruit hs players from other ncaa teams because of the residency requirement and i doubt a blue-chip prospect would want to sit out 1 year just to fulfill that requirement. jake pascual is an exception because of what happened to PCU. recruiting from the uaap juniors team is well, let's just say, not that enticing and besides they would rather play for their own schools because they are already in the uaap. i think recruiting from the provinces is an option that should be explored. the lack of leagues in the provinces is a problem because of the limited exposure of the high school programs of these schools

It's just funny na sila lang yung nagsasabi na luto daw..the refs said before the game that they're going to call it close para maiwasan yung nangyari dati..hindi lang sila nakapag adjust..ang dami din fouls ng San beda nung first quarter pero nakapag adjust sila..Letran kept giving those fouls at hindi sila nag adjust..walang lutuan na nangyari..

Both teams gave up a lot of (stupid) fouls. But San Beda had 4 or 5 players in double figures while Letran only had 1 or 2..that gave San Beda the W..

i guess that' only fair considering that he only arrived last september 19. not only is it fair but it also somehow gives respect to the everyday student who has to abide by the rules on late enrollment, maximum number of absences allowed and that little thing called the midterm exams as well as the other schools who have to abide by this rule.

now tell me that i'm wrong about his arrival date? about his exceeding the allowable absences per subject? about him missing the midterms? attack my argument first, refute it and say that no, he didn't plane in last september 19, that he was already attending classes in late june and that he took the midterm exams.

Clearly, a premature ejaculation on the part of jojojojo. Why is SBC being harangued even when there is no controversy to speak of yet much less an eligibility violation? If your new Nigerian import got to Manila just last month, September, (as claimed by a poster here) then under the NCAA rules on eligibility the earliest he can play is 2012.

Its as simple as that.

Now, what I really don't get is that no one has offered a direct answer regarding this matter. Granted that Jojojojo is overeacting with his posts and that no "formal" announcement has been made about when the new Nigerian will play, but looking at things objectively what I don't understand is why those who replied to his posts either skirted his questions or worse simply gave nonsensical remarks.

Sure, there may be no controversy now but that is not the point, the point being made, IMHO, is that the new Nigerian, assuming he really arrived just last month, got to Manila far, far too late to even matriculate for the first semester, therefore meaning that while he can play the earliest he can do so is 2012.

Just my two cents worth on this.

Funny the season has not ended yet but there are some who have shown uncanny interest as to who our players will be next year.

I guess it comes with the territory. Success and fame will inevitably get the attention of crabs.

Anybody and any NCAA or even UAAP school for that matter is welcome to file any protest with the NCAA Mancom when we submit our list of players next year.

Those who want to question the eligibility of our players next year, particularly Adeogun, Anthony Semerad and David Semerad are welcome. Please go ahead and file your protests. Make sure you do it before or during the first round. That's your tip from me.

The fact that SBC will not be the host next year may be considered as head start for them. ;) And that's another tip from me.

But, as what we've said, we'll cross the bridge when we get there.

I am not really aware/familiar with the academic criteria of San Beda now, but haven't you guys heard of online studying? Or even online enrollment? I used to teach in one of the universities in Manila, and they do have online enrollment and courses. In fact, there were times when the prof would be out of the country for the whole sem, and he would be giving his lecture online. And that was perfectly ok.

I myself have given exceptions to some of my students, so long as they would be able to pass the final exam. After all, the ultimate yardstick is whether or not the student has learned from the subject. That's it. All the other requirements, i.e., attendance, assignments, term papers, etc., are just there to ensure that students would indeed learn from the class.

i already saw your team b play, here's my assessment:

1. kyle pascual - a poor man's version of john foronda, soft and mechanical but works hard. needs to learn a lot things, particularly post play. if only he can jump higher than a softdrink can maybe just maybe he can help on the boards.

2. semerad twins - the shorter one (that's anthony right?) is a shooter and is agile, the other one is bulkier. however, both are as soft as cotton candy. i heard they quit the letran tryouts because they kept on getting elbowed, pushed, tugged at, etc. during practice.

3. jaypee mendoza - would have been the real deal but sadly he's working on only one ACL now and this has hampered his development and maturity, not mention dented his confidence.

4. jessmar villahermosa - expectations are too high on this kid. is it because he's a "veteran" rookie having played 2 years with the university of visayas before moving to manila? hard to believe bedans have high hopes for this kid, letran's kirk del rosario is a far better point guard.

5. ryusei koga - damn, what's with the hobbit exchange program? you already have a pair of 4 footers in your team (caram and lim) and you're adding another one? kevin alas will make shortwork of this kid.

Kyle Pascual is definitely not a poor man's version of John Foronda. On the contrary, he has a lot more upside than Foronda because he is younger. Foronda is now what? 22, 23? Pascual is just 18 going 19 and yet his skills are already comparable if not better than that of the older Letran center. Foronda will not even make it to any under 18 RP team. Kyle got the nod of Franz Pumaren while Foronda was returned by Franz from La Salle to Letran.

I don't recall someone saying Pascual plays soft. In fact, Kyle plays hard and certainly does not shy away from contact. Maybe when he first arrived here he was not playing physical because that was not the style of play in the US, but certainly not now. What Kyle needs to improve on is his lateral movement, dribbling and positioning.

Re the Semerad twins, I think you merely based what you wrote on the misguided post of someone who was not exactly in the know.
For the record, the twins arrived here in the country without knowing who to approach. Thus, they did the rounds, went to Ateneo to scrimmage, then to Letran, and to San Beda. They were about to go to La Salle for another stop but they were already convinced by San Beda to play as Red Lions.

Louie Alas wanted the twins and was frustrated because he failed to get them. The twins were asking about the benefits they would get from Letran's basketball program in terms of foreign training, facilities, among other things, but Alas told them the truth, i.e., nothing much to expect from Letran.

About the rumor that they played in a commercial league and for the national team of a European country, that's pure hog wash. As I said, anyone is welcome to file a complaint when their names are submitted next year. Let the Mancom and/or the Policy Board decide on this issue. Rumor mongering will not get us anywhere.

Like any foreigner, they find the physical play of the local teams a new experience but they are up to the challenge and are earning a lot since they started playing in the FMC. The 6'6 Resopa of UE learned it the hard way as he was practically rendered ineffective by David Semerad in a game which the Team Behold won.

About Jaypee Mendoza's purported hampered maturity and dented confidence, only time will tell if your statement is true. You haven't seen him play this year and yet you have already arrived at that conclusion which is, in reality, a mere speculation.

About Jessmar Villahermosa being a "veteran rookie", tell me your school and I'll list down your veteran rookies. If you can't tell me your real school, that's only because you are afraid the accusations you throw against SBC are more reflective of your own school. Misery loves company.

Regarding R. Koga, I agree he is short and we are not upbeat about him. And that's another speculation on your part. Koga might not even make it to Team A.

For the record, the twins arrived here in the country without knowing who to approach. Thus, they did the rounds, went to Ateneo to scrimmage, then to Letran, and to San Beda. They were about to go to La Salle for another stop but they were already convinced by San Beda to play as Red Lions.

Louie Alas wanted the twins and was frustrated because he failed to get them. The twins were asking about the benefits they would get from Letran's basketball program in terms of foreign training, facilities, among other things, but Alas told them the truth, i.e., nothing much to expect from Letran.

About the rumor that they played in a commercial league and for the national team of a European country, that's pure hog wash. As I said, anyone is welcome to file a complaint when their names are submitted next year. Let the Mancom and/or the Policy Board decide on this issue. Rumor mongering will not get us anywhere.

Like any foreigner, they find the physical play of the local teams a new experience but they are up to the challenge and are earning a lot since they started playing in the FMC. The 6'6 Resopa of UE learned it the hard way as he was practically rendered ineffective by David Semerad in a game which the Team Behold won.

About Jaypee Mendoza's purported hampered maturity and dented confidence, only time will tell if your statement is true. You haven't seen him play this year and yet you have already arrived at that conclusion which is, in reality, a mere speculation.

About Jessmar Villahermosa being a "veteran rookie", tell me your school and I'll list down your veteran rookies. If you can't tell me your real school, that's only because you are afraid the accusations you throw against SBC are more reflective of your own school. Misery loves company.

Regarding R. Koga, I agree he is short and we are not upbeat about him. And that's another speculation on your part. Koga might not even make it to Team A.
