Let's try something new here. I'm sure a lot of us go out to places people have never even heard of before. BUT if you think it's worth checking out, why don't you tell us about it? Be a critic and praise or criticize the gimmick places in town.

Okay I'll start. Remember, these are just my
personal opinions..

• Downtown LA - It sucks. Don't go there unless you really need to, or you have plenty of time to waste. Traffic is horrible especially during rainy days. Riceboys everywhere.

• Jacksonville, FL - hmm.. it's okay. If you love retro stuffs and oldie moldie tripping then this place is for you. Old churches, decent beaches, 'soaky' climate, and what not. It's also a great place for retirement later in life. If you want chicks, go to Miami.

• Yearly Pomona Fair in FairPlex Pomona - it sucks. We were there last year and the rides were cheesy, the place is chaotic, there were garbages everywhere, but the chicks are oh-so-hot. The traffic is horrible, parking is a mess, and if you hate long stupid walks then this place's not for you.
Yeah plenty of riceboys too.

• Ventura Blvd. in San Fernando Valley, CA - If you love cruising whether by yourself or with chicks or with homies, this is the place to be in the valley especially at night. It's a great nice nightlife LONG DRIVE from Van Nuys to WoodLand Hills and almost all resto's can be found there - From cheap McDo's to classy Tony Roma's to nice Starbucks, you'll find it there. Be careful with cops though, since they catch "street racers" all the time. So when you go there and a riceboy asks you for a race, give em the middle finger and go. Overall it's a nice place. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/drowned/iroc-cop.gif

There. I could write hundreds of place but I'm out of time. This could be a great head start http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/corky/corkysm43.gif

Taste of Chicago - yearly event in Chicago during the 4th of July weekend. about 200 restaurant booths with shows all over and radio station contests going on. A must for everyone. You get to sample almost every restaurant in the Chicago area.

Hawaii- awesome place to visit.. too expensive to live there and jobs are hard to come by..

LA - k, this is just my opinion.. DONT live there! If you went to the US to avoid traffic and sample diverse cultures.. this isn't for you.. plus the pollution is a *****..

post summore in the future.. :)

Las Vegas the ultimate vacation destination,a place you have to see to believe and a place you would like to visit but not live.Vegas is honky tonky drinking alcohol outside and partying until u drop.

Reno is better,it is less hectic.

I went to Congo Grill in El Pueblo for Valentine's day with my friends. I'm really disappointed with it. Reasons?

1. We called earlier for a reservation. When we get there at the time we said we'd be there, they gave our table to someone else.
2. It took us 4 waiters for an iced tea.
3. ... 5 waiters for an ashtray.
4. ... 2 waiters for a glass of bailey's.
5. The food is nothing exceptional.

Annual Rodeo

When: On going now
Where: Reliant Astrodome, Houston

If you wanna see real life bronco-buckin' cowboys, this is for you. Livestock shows, gallon hats, spurs, everything you ever fantasized about the wild west is just right inside the Astrodome. Once you step out though, better get yourself a reality check 'cause Houston isn't really just a "small town in the middle of nowhere".

--------

Houston

It's no doubt about it that when you hear Texas, images of cacti, long dry summers, deserts, country accents ("Howdy ya'll doin?"), trucks and cowboys on horses just flash in your numb brain.

I was full of apprehensions on going here, and the crap I got from my friends didn't help ("You're going to be a cowgirl..." ) either. I let a couple of months go until finally Houston just eventually seeped into my bones and into my life.

Despite of popular notions, Houston turned out to be a very modern city that has a downtown good enough to rival those immensely popular ones like NYC and LA (though not as cheesy and polluted :D).

Traffic is free-flowing with all the big-*** freeways, and public transportation is reliable and cheap. $2 can give you unlimited rides in the Metro for 24 hours.

In downtown Houston, there is a pretty unique way for people to get around. They've built underground tunnels that has shops and resturants and people pass there when getting to one building to another to free up the streets above. There are one-way streets everywhere so you'd better pay attention when driving. Parking is charged as always, averaging around $3. There are theatres, art centers, and the like everywhere.

If you wanna go major shopping, uptown Houston is the way to go. The Galleria is famous because it houses big-shot department stores and has an ambience like Glorietta and ATC (for those Manila peepz). Parking here can be a problem. So if you're used to the mall parking in Manila, this is definitely no different.

Cost of living is pretty affordable. You can get a fully-furnished 2b/2tb apartment in a great quiet neighborhood near downtown starting from $650/month. Uptown costs more with $800. A word of warning though, everything in Houston is so far-apart (20 minutes on the road is nothing), having a pair of reliable wheels is virtually a necessity.

I went there last night for the first time. Despite all the hype it's been getting, well... can I give it a rating of one thumb up and one thumb down?

It's a place for young professionals to D.O.M.'s. For someone who's not into "conyo" places, this is not for you. It's got a lot of class and I like the music.. makes me feel that I'm cultured. ;) BUT, well, I guess if you're not with good company, you want have fun and feel comfortable. :( One visit is enough for me. It's definitely not in my top 3 places to go to.
