Boris Aldeguer was the new coach of the Altas replacing Arturo "Bai" Cristobal.

if i remember what my prof said correctly... "altas" means antonio tamayo pala... either owner sya ng uphds or bigating alumnae nila anyway the team was named after that guy

Some La Salle Team B players could not get a slot from the Team A can have a chance to play for a La Salle system Basketball program implemented by Aldeguer.

The monicker ‘Altas’ comes from the Latin word “height,” symbolizing UPHD's aspirations for further greatness. At the same time, it comes from the initials of the school founder, Dr. Antonio L. Tamayo. :D

- Thank you wikipedia. :glee:

very unlikely.. players from UPHDS are all walk in applicants.. that's the problem of UPHDS. they don't have any recruitment schemes.

It's all about money to get a high caliber player right now in College Basketball nowadays. UPHDS doesnt have a top caliber alumni to lend funds for Basketball.

Boris Aldeguer is a proven winner when it comes to juniors basketball. UPHD's players performed like juniors basketball players during Season 84 so maybe coach Boris is really fit to be UPHD's new coach.

The monicker "Alta" doesn't only mean "height" in Latin but also serves as a pun to Antonio L. Tamayo's initials for his first and middle name as well as for the first two letters of his surname. The "D" in "Dalta" of UPHD (D stands for Dalta) may also serve as a pun to the "Dr." title of Tamayo. Add that letter "D" of Dalta to "Alta" and you'll have Dr. Antonio L. Tamayo. Hence, the "Dalta" in University of Perpetual Help Dalta may symbolically refer to Dr. Antonio L. Tamayo.

somehow, imagine that co-incidence ALTAS and DALTA almost have the same meaning.

ang alam ko senior's tream ata ang altas tapos ang sa juniors nmn ay altalettes. at ang babe ay lady altas.

For furhter greatness, GO PERPS!

not that they don't have a notable alumni which can lend funds but its their sports admin (something similar to SDO of CSB) that has a problem.. if somebody of good caliber can hold manage that department, i think their sports program can really excel.. when i was still in high school, our school would usually meet PHCR in various sports tournaments and i could easily say that they can dominate other las pinas schools easily.. but when they face top caliber schools like in the NCAA, the can't compete competitively.

UPHDS is a big university plus the fact that they have over at least 50,000 students (including high school). but their tuition fee is lower than average. so i could also say that internal funding for their sports development is also weak.
