Lahat ata nakaranas na ng championships. Yeo, ****, Tiu, Lee, Yao.
Last 8 years kapag ang team may Xaverian nananalo ng championship at least once.

If I were to vote who among them brought the most honor to their HS alma mater, Tiu will get my vote. :D

oo naman. from a stallion to an eagle, he has been the best example of a product of jesuit education. holistic formation, di lang magaling na student, magaling din na athlete. he has proven that not all jocks are dumb. a very well rounded person indeed.

of course all other xaverians exemplify the gift of a jesuit education in varying degrees. iba lang talaga si chris tiu.

about xaverians winning uaap championships, i guess kasi they are one of the best schools (among many others) din naman with respect to basketball in HS and even GS.

Regarding the sports betting, I think it's safe to say that there will surely be somebody betting on a game. So let's not keep that sin exclusivelt to xavierians. (Although I know a lot who do bet.)

Xavier obviously has one of the best high school programs in the country. It's a shame actually that they can't compete in the UAAP or NCAA to show how they match up in the "big leagues."

Next year, 2 more players will come into the UAAP wars with Banal and Teng suiting up for DLSU. Surely, they will be trained well especially with departure of Casio and Maierhofer. More playing time will be up for grabs.

Eric Yao (XS '98) was also part of the 2002 team that won the championship

If Tiu, T A N G, etc. bring honor to Xavier, si Yeo kamote!

Eric Yao wasn't included in the 2002 ADMU champion team. Is Tiu really a valedictorian? What batch in Xavier? I think Joseph Henry Yeo is the guy who gave Xavier the most honor as a cager. He is the first Stallion to enter the PBA and he did it during the school's 50th anniversary. He is also the first Xavier alumnus to win a PBA championship. Aside from that, he's a UAAP and PBL champion. He is followed by Tyrone T@ng as far as giving the most honor to Xavier is concerned. T@ng is also a UAAP and PBL champion and followed Yeo as the 2nd PBA player out of Xavier. Tiu may someday follow his fellow teammates from Xavier in the PBA. During their playing days in Xavier, Yeo is always the no. 1 option in scoring followed by T@ng, and with Tiu being third. Tiu also led ADMU to the top of the UAAP heap after Yeo and T@ng have left the league. These 3 guys have given their alma mater the most honor as cagers and they almost share the same achievements with each other.

^^ you've got to be kidding, right, especially on the part about joseph yeo giving xavier the greatest honor as a cager? yes he was the first xavierian to ever make it to the PBA, but he was also the first xavierian to have been cited as a negative influence because of his foul mouth, deplorable conduct, and, most of all, his gambling habit. if you only know how much grief he's caused to the xavier community over the years...

right. Yeo almost didnt even make it to the PBA because of the "Fiasco" he did during an Ateneo-Lasalle BENEFIT game.. "flying punch to the face of Enrico Villanueva then run like the wind technique" followed by "trashtalk and taunt the bloodied Villanueva when in safe distance stance" ..

then PBA commissioner Noli Eala was already thinking about permanently banning Joseph Yeo from ever stepping foot into the PBA.. right now Yeo is a popular blind item concerning allegations of game fixing, point shaving, etc. :p

and right now, Noli Eala lost his job as PBA commissioner.
REASON: ADULTERY
and add to that, Noli Eala is now is DISBARRED lawyer.

While Yeo is still in the PBA and has already won a title!

padagdag na rin (pero OT :D):

Wag nyo masyadong ganyanin si Noli Eala. Nag-aral din sa La Salle yan kahit papano  He is an alumnus of LSGH if I'm not mistaken..:p

Yeo didn't hit Villanueva with a "flying punch". What he did was a "cheap shove" over Villanueva's face and it bloodied the bulky Atenean's nose. Yeo has been a trailblazer for Xavier in terms of basketball achievements from the amateur up to the pro ranks. T@ng and Tiu followed suit. Guys can't discount Yeo's achievements as a basketball player. Everyone commits mistakes especially on the basketball court. Yeo has apologized to the PBA and has even proclaimed on a PBA lifestyle magazine that his wife's love has changed him. If you're going to weigh Yeo's misconducts versus the offense commited by Noli Eala, I don't think the former's deeds will outweigh that of the latter. After all, an almost broken face can never compare to a broken relationship.

So does Joseph Yeo's misconducts give Xavier something to be proud of? (If you may have forgotten, the topic of this thread is "Xaverians in UAAP Basketball" and not "Eala vs Yeo") IMHO, Tui and **** are the players who have truly given Xavier something to be proud of.

I think Yeo's play on the court put Xavier b-ball on the map. He was the trailblazer for the ****'s and Tiu's. Although I must say, his off-court antics leave much to be desired. **** on the other hand was a true class act. I think it's unfair to compare them to Tiu's impact, cause quite frankly, I don't think there has ever been a player in recent memory who can appeal and more importantly gain the respect of people from all walks of life. (Nerds, jocks, guys, gals, rich and masa)

sa totoo lang, marami nang nauna kay joseph yeo kung pagalingan lang sa basketball. if you ask around, you will find a variety of opinions on who was the best xavier alumnus, which means they do not agree on one player alone--merong nagsasabi si eric yao, iba naman si kenneth yap, o kaya si griffith go, at marami pang iba. however, joseph yeo's claim to fame is that he was the first alumnus to make it to the pros and has since been joined by TY t@ng. but as far as putting xavier basketball on the map, malamang hindi kasi matagal nang kilala ang eskwelahang yan.

Matagal na sikat Xavier, true..pero more sa academics. Yeo was the 1st real Xavierian superstar sa UAAP. The the Yao's and Isidro's were all hype.

As for Yeo being the most talented xavierian, i don't know about that. He was the flashiest and the most athletic, sure. But tiu's uber clutch performances and all around play are just as impressive. Actually kahit sa scoring, halos pareho lang sila, with Tiu getting way more rebounds and assits. Tiu had 2 mythical team selections, Yeo had 1 **** 0. In highschool Tiu had more mvp's than Yeo did. I think it boils down to the two of them. I don't know how anyone can put the yao's, go's, at the same level with 3 big names from Xavier.

haha, kasi karamihan ng xaverians, chinoy... it's primarily a chinese school anyway... so by simple proportion, llabas talagang mas maraming chinoy na xaverians in uaap (and in any field for that matter) kung random sampling ang pagbibigay ni lord ng talent, hahaha...

OT uli: nakakatuwa naman *** threadstarter. he actually knows how to spell xaverian... even xaverians make the mistake of keeping the first i (xavierians)...

Next year, si Banal ng DLSU, hindi rin Chinoy.

Si Gilbert Lao, hindi yata taga Xavier. Si Warren Clemente pa ang Xavier na naglaro sa UAAP. UP Maroons, circa '86-'88.
