Waterboys is a 2001 comedy film written and directed by the Japanese film director Shinobu Yaguchi, about five boys who start a synchronized swimming team at their high school.
There was also a Japanese television drama series named Water Boys (to avoid confusion with the movie which is titled Waterboys) aired in Japan on Fuji Television in 2003. There is a fairly large cast due to the amount of members in each team. There were 32 swimmers in this drama who were carefully chosen to fit their roles, but none of them had ever done synchronized swimming before.
The Pinoy version of Water Boys would serve as a "sequel" to the Japanese TV series. In my proposed version, after watching about the Tadano High School synchronized swimming team on the foreign news on TV, 5 teenagers decide to start their own male synchro swimming team.
