Plan on spending lots of money!
Depending on what you want to achieve,do you want a 13 sec. car?a 12
sec.car? a 9 sec. car? it boils down to a few thousand dollars,or a few hundred
thousand pesos! Good Luck!
Go to Clark and look for my friend John Rizya.

...manood. Pero hindi ko sinasama girlfriend ko kasi may ambabastos ng ibang tao dun, eh. Makakita lang ng seksing maputi, nagwawala na.
Going back to the drags, kapag nakakahiram ako ng kotse (SUV kasi ang talagang sasakyan ko) bumibitaw din ako minsan with my friends. Minsan naman friendly racing lang.

I find the sport boring. No offense to professional drag racers / fanatics out there. But I'd rather watch BTCC or F1. Mas exciting, they actually get to use the middle pedal ( yah tama ka dun yung brakes ) and it invloves way more skill than just launching from the dragstrip.

It's all about torque, horsepower and acceleration
and nothing more.
road race, touring car,f1 autocross (or slalom) require more than just car set up/preparation
-driver's skill!
drag race - puro arankada at lakas ng makina!

I personally prefer autocross, f1, touring, rally, and the like and I certainly enjoy more the factors of line taking and cornering over raw straight away speed. But I think that drag racers should be given due credit as well. :)
Though I don't find it as exhilerating as say circuit racing, I think that a good amount of skill coupled with an excellent ability to setup an ultimate horsepower crunching machine is something to be proud of. Though I ain't a drag racer by any means, I think that proper control, timing, clutch meet, and other skills are crucial in determining the difference between a time of 9.99 sec and 9.98 sec. Which is a large difference in drag racing, and often times is also a large margin in autocross. :)
The one thing that I'm not so fond of in drag racing is that you sometimes can't tell if it's the driver that's good or the car itself that's good. What I find appealing about autocross and the like is that sometimes you don't have to have a super powerfull car to go fast. :)
All in all, I like most motor sports with speed and diversity, be it drag racing, rally racing, stock car, touring, open wheel racing, autocross, and so on. :D

Drag racing only interests me with the modifications and the raw speed. Other than that I prefer F1 or rallying.

Hi guys,
although I am more fond of circuit racing, we should give credit where credit is due. Drag racing takes skill, it may be different skills as compared to circuit racing but nevertheless. When you're talking about a 10 sec. car like the fastest car we have here, it takes an awful lot of concentration, practice, and of course skill to shed even .1 seconds off of that 10 sec. run. You have a lot of things to take into consideration like shifting, when to release the clutch, etc. etc. And take note that you have so many things to watch out for and you only have around 10 secs to find out where your strong points are and where your weak points are.

Punta ka na lang sa sanctioned events e.g. in Subic, Clark or in the Bay area. Hwag ka na lang maghanap ng gauge kung saan-saan at may mapapahamak pa sa ginagawa nyong karera.
Try going to dragracingpinoy.com.

I will go to Subic next weekend to watch some of the races :)
Yup, I know people from dragracingpinoy.com, specially the owner :)
I should have made the title differently :)

If you want to be such an NA purist prepare to spend a LOT of money for very little power gain.

Racing on the street can get people killed. I know of someone who was shot by a disgrunted Pajero driver last Suday morning because of a couple of fool Civic drivers wrecklessly street racing along Congressional. I hope they catch both the Pajero driver and the two idiot Civic drivers.
As for drag racing on a closed off road. I find it boring. Life isn't a straight line.

Paolo,
That was Mike Llorin of Grupo Toyota. Died very young (30?), left a wife and very young kids.
May God bless his soul.
Back to topic
Kung drag din lang naman pala ang hanap mo eh hwag na kayo manghinayang magpakabit ng NOS, turbo, supercharger or whatever means of forced induction to your engine. BANG FOR THE BUCK.
NA cars will prefer the circuit over the strip unless you got a typical American V8 muscle car that has a chassis made of crap and is hopeless in taking the corners properly.

Yup it's the late Mike Llorin to whom I speak. Masmabuti na lang sana natamaan na lang yung mga tangang naka Civic. Honestly what's the point? You're econobox is faster than the others? You're daddy is willing to tolerate & fund your delisions that you're the street racing Micheal Schumacher? :) Too bad lots of girls are a bit dumb on the basis of their bf.

1) Rent a go-kart
2) Rent a track
3) Go to an official drag race.
Besides ang mahal-mahal ng gasolina ngayon. Full-throttle standing starts are a sure way to shorten the life of your car's parts: clutch, tires, transmission, crankshaft...

Dude, here's a list of the popular legal race places:
1. PDRF (Macapagal usually) - most of the drag guys i know go here
2. Subic RWYB - Subic International Raceway
3. Batangas Racing Ciruit
There's also karting as Shun mentioned. :)
Used to be active with some fellow enthusiasts on RWYB (i would usually end up helping out more though as i did not have enough moolah to spare for decent tires :P)... most of the cars joining in would only have some minor engine mods (some where bone stock) and more concentration would be done to the tires, brakes, and suspension side. Heck, i was even being egged to join my oil burner pickup (stock engine, some minor suspension mods and wide h/t tires back then) in bracket D of RWYB before just to see how it would hold out.
Just a note... in other forums (i.e. Nissanbayan.com), it's a practice to delete any threads or posts that talks of street racing or "street kills". Maybe we can practice that here as well. ;)

I have a team named GEARSPEED MOTORSPORTS and the team is just starting.

Dude, did i mention anything about deleting this specific thread? That's why i specifically said "just a note" so that it would not be taken in context; that it would not be misconstrued that I be pertaining to this thread since there were some reactions by other posters that touched on street racing.
