Hi honeybabes. I'm also going to the States next month. Just travel light..dun ka na magshopping. It's spring time by the time you arrive so don't bring too heavy jackets or coats. I suggest that you go to outlet factories..there's a lot in California..you can buy clothes from Esprit, Gap, Anne Klein, CK, Tommy, Levis, etc. at cheaper prices. If you want high-end designer clothes, then go to malls like Neiman Marcus etc. Hope this helps! have fun:)

What part of California? Kung San Francisco siguro pack a nice jacket and sweater because it's always cooler there than in LA.
Kung sa LA naman, pwedeng isang light jacket na lang, kasi during the springtime in LA, it's somewhat cool in the mornings, but warms up rapidly as the day proggresses. Okey lang siguro ang sandals.
As for movie ticket prices, on the average siguro mga $7.50 ang movies after 4pm. Before 4pm, siguro mga $4. Kung nasa LA ka, punta ka sa Eagle Rock mall sa Glendale, ang sine dun ay mga $2 lang ata.

oo nga eh! :D i'm hoping na matuloy yung sa summer. medyo malabo ata eh. it needs a lot of money. feb and then april? que horror!!!!!!!
Hello guys, can I be your tour guide when you come here? ;)
RIGHT NOW as I type it's raining hard here in LA area. Weather forecast says it'll continue til the next weekend, hopefully it's not gonna go all the way through April :D
Movie ticket prices vary - when you go to malls, it's mostly $8 a person, or $2.50 on cheap movie houses.
shopping? Don't go to malls - they'll rip you off because they pay for their place too, y'know. Anyways, where are you guys gonna stay, I mean which part of Cali? Try looking for Swap Meets and if possible, go to Santee in LA.
Is this your first time here?? Don't miss these places, it's like missing 90% of your CALI TRIP:
• Big Bear (experience snow - REAL SNOW)
• Mountain High (also snow)
• Disney of course and Universal Studios
• San Diego's Sea World (great park)
If you want to meet up or ask directions, just email me :)

Okay din puntahan while in Southern Cali ang:
Palm Spring and take the tram ride
Rodeo Drive (for window shopping)
Las Vegas, Nevada not necessarily to gamble
Downtown LA Mission to see that there are also poor and lazy or under priviledge people around here

during summer outdoor activities like camping is a fave here in cali. two of the most attractive place you can see here is yosemite national park and lake tahoe located north bordering the sierra nevada.
even if you're not a nature lover, i gurantee you'll be amazed by the breathtaking scenery.

Nice topic! Anyways, considering you guys are coming over here (LA) by April..lemme think...that'll be around spring already. I suggest you pack light. Don't expect SoCal to be that cold anymore. I mean around this time, I don't even wear a sweater to school anymore. If you guys have plans to go around California (besides SoCal) then don't even bother to follow these suggestions of mine. I mean it'll be a different story when you guys are traveling up north as well (even up in the mountains) Otherwise, if it's solely on SoCal that you're devoting your trip on, then mind this. About buying clothes here, the best places to shop would be the Outlet Stores (though the good ones are out in the desert)! I mean it's worth the trip to Lake Elsinore or perhaps Camarillo if you want discounts or reduced prices! Whatever your brand may be, they SURELY will have it. When you're watching a movie, go out like around 2:oo p.m. or before 4:00 (matinee), it's much much cheaper at these times@!

yung ensaymada ni nino mulach - super melt, diba? always pinabibili sa kin whenever i fly to lax dahil it taste better than goldilocks and red ribbon...
anyway, dont forget CATALINA Island if u wanna go and relax for a day or 2 - laid back ang lugar...
South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa - better shops than Beverly Hills.
other than sea world in san diego, masarap kumain sa Old Towne for their mexican cuisine...
nightclubbing in Los Angeles, dont forget to bring ur ID - must be 21 (unless there are clubs for underage, no alchohol serve)...
enjoy!!

So that's cool you're comin here in kali..you'll like it here girl!..especially when it's summer.. lots of pretty girls wearin tube tops and bikinis..for guys, they wear tankk tops or "sando"...Since its gonna be summer here, i recommend you to bring slippers. Slippers in the summer here are very popular..People just wear slippers in the mall and they look very good in it.. For clothes, just bring light clothes and a lot of shorts..well you might wanna bring a light jacket too cuz it gets kinda chilly @ night!!!Oh hell yeah it;s very advisable to go shopping here for signaures clothes..One store i recommend you to go to is Saks fifth Avenue oh my God, you'll see all the signatures clothings you want from Banana Rep. to DKNY and to Armani and even Versace..so just have fun..if you're gonna be here at Orange County where i live which is in Anaheim, i strongly recommend you to go to Irvine Spectrum, The Block @ Orange, and @ the happiest and newest place to be in, the Disney Adventure theme park..If you wanna watch a movie, it usually cost $6-$8..but it changes if you are there early..like when it start to get dark, it usually goes higher than normal price..that's just how it is. When you come here @ summer expect it to be really hot like around 90-100 degrees, but don't worry it's not gonna be humid but it's just dry..so you won't die..hehe..you'll feel how different it is from the Philippines..well hope i answered all your questions..Just Have Fun when you come here..aight then...*** here in Kali...Peace

Ang alam ko lang outlet stores sa LA area ay yung Citadel mall, just off the 5 freeway, at of course yung mga outlet stores sa Barstow, just off the 15 papuntang Vegas. Okey dun.

If its your first time to visit LAX, I suggest you join a city tour of LAX. Medyo mahal but you get to see a lot of places in half a day to 3/4day. They'll bring you to the Farmers Market, Venice Beach, MArina del Rey, Bel Air (see the houses of actors, directors and actresses)..you have to see Aaron Spelling's house and Steven Spielberg... and of course the HOLLYWOOD sign, Mann's Chinese Theater ( stars and footprints) and all other great places. Plus, the tour is very informative. You'll learn a lot about the place.
Oo nga pala, steer clear of EURO PACIFIC TOURS!!!!!! Would you believe, they forgot to pick us up from Disneyland. We were standing in the rain and cold of the parking lot for 2 hours waiting for them to pick us up!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!
i suggest you try VIP tours. You can look them up. They have small coaches so very personalized yung tour. Also if youy decide to join their tours for Disneyland, Sea World and Universal, you can request for late pick up at no extra cost!!! Plus their staff are very friendly and prompt!
Shopping naman...since we usually stay near Torrance...we go to Del Amo mall...super big ng mall na ito. Over 300 stores ata. You can find lots of great stores...
Do you mind buying designer clothes na medyo off season...do you mind going through racks and racks of clothes? If not, try TJ Maxx.
What else? Ah! How can I forget the ever famous BIG KMART, TArget, Ralph's, Sav on and the 99c store! :) Do you like to buy Makeup? Mahihilo ka sa dami! :) Oo nga pala...shoes???? syempre PAYLESS!!! hehehe. Buy one , half price yung next pair. :)
I never buy shoes dito sa pinas kasi mas mura dun!
O yan, mga tips ko yan for you. If you need to know more about tours and tourist spots to visit, email me (sam2075@mindgate.net). I don't live there pero I go there once or twice a year for a vacation.
Basta remember....ENJOY every minute of every day!!! :) Huwag ka lang pupunta sa Disneyland on the 4th of July...super nasty ng tao...nakipag-away pa ako! :P

depende rin. minsan mas mura pa sa pinas toga kesa sa tate. kung gusto mo pala ng mura na signature clothes, try ROSS. scavenger hunt ka nga lang dun pero pag nakakuha ka sobrang sulit.

I'm also going to LA & SF this April. How much would it cost to take a trip to Tahoe and Yosemite? Should we just rent a car and drive up? Accomodations? What about Napa Valley? Another thing, would a day trip to San Diego suffice? Or bitin ba?

Sa mga shoppers...punta kayo sa mga A&F stores. Yun nga lang wala silang outlets, but they almost always have sale items....
LA, SF, Tahoe, Yosemite, Napa Valley, and then San Diego?!?!?!? Mitzel, as far as accomodations, if any of your California contacts are Triple-A members, have them fix you up some "TripTiks" and maybe book motels/hotels. I'd recommend picking up at least a mid-sized rental car for your trek. If you have only one month, hmm...well...have a Triple-A representative help you out on your Cali trip. Saan arrival mo? SF, LA, or maybe somewhere else?
Oh...since you have an itinerary, you HAVE to include Monterey/Carmel especially the Pebble Beach coastal 17-Mile Drive from Monterey to Carmel. This is a must...
Have fun :)

oh...and SOLVANG!!! Don't forget to include Solvang. I'm not sure, but I think it's close to San Luis Obispo :) :) :)

Hi Nokie! Thanks for the tips. Port of entry ko is LA. Actually I'm alloting just 2 weeks for the Cali part of my trip so parang I want to "rush" through most of the must-see places in LA and SF. I'm also hopping to NY, Florida (Disneyworld) and St. Louis. Any tips on the other states will be appreciated. Thanks again!

Hey! :) I actually remember this place! Haven't been there since '96 though...
Folks, I'm going to be in the SF area from Holy Week on to April 21 at the earliest... Could some of you kind people suggest where I can get the following:
1) Cheap accommodations?
2) Good Food! :D
3) Public transportation
4) Access to IT companies in SF, San Jose and/or Silicon Valley
5) Contact info for nice Filipino groups who can help me and my friend out (we're there for business) with some helpful tourist info (Mahirap kasi kapag wala kang kakilala sa Bay Area...)
Thank you in advance!! :D

New Orleans, Louisiana for starters. I haven't been there myself, but I hear it's "good eatin'" :)

I'm not sure about cheap accomodations in SF, aticus. Maybe in some other cities within the Bay Area (East Bay for example), though commute can be a killer. This site might help: http://www.bayinsider.com/

Another vote for Lake Tahoe! Been there twice, first time in the winter with 15-foot snow drifts, I was taller than the road signs! Went snowmobiling around Heavenly Ski Resort. Tahoe is marvelous in the winter. Second trip was in the Fall ... really peaceful and quiet, I didn't recognize the place without the snow. But I heard the place is really pretty in the spring, so you can be lucky. Plan to stay at least 2 days. Stay in either South Lake Tahoe or the Nevada side where the casinos are. If you like driving, drive around the lake .... include Carson City, Reno and Virginia City, a wild west town (all in Nevada)if you can. Trip can be done in a day.
