I was scammed!!!
I don't know how to start writing this awful experience but by sharing this, people will be more cautious in dealing with media related services.
Someone who claimed to be a staff of Mega Magazine used the name of its fashion editor, Patrick Ty. He used the mobile # 0917-4767201. He texted me and invited me over for a cup of coffee to discuss a feature of my bags. I agreed without checking his background since I've worked with Meg and Girlfriend already (same company as Mega). Their staff uses prepaid numbers as well. I agreed to meet him over at Coffee Bean, Emerald Ave at 9 a.m. It was past nine when I texted him if he's coming. He replied by telling me that he was stuck in traffic. I waited with my bags in tow. He asked if I could do a small favor by buying him load and he'll pay me as soon as we sit down. Good thing I was too lazy to buy load since I have postpaid line. I told him that I'll just wait for him since the parking is beside the coffee shop and it wasn't full. He insisted that I buy him the load but I told him that I'll wait for him. I already became suspicious with the load thing. I texted my Girlfriend Mag contact and verified the whereabouts of Patrick Ty. She replied by telling me that he was out of the country! F***! I was scammed!!! I immediately called my GF Mag contact to tell her everything! She informed me that I was not the first victim but several others.
Lesson learned: Do your background check. Don't give immediate assistance. Do your dealings directly in their offices, not outside.
Sheesh!
