Ano ba yan?
Nagmukhang insecure ang UP sa mga posts ng UST. Besides, ilan lang bang mga colleges and universities ang nag-o-offer ng Geodetic Eng'g? (I think UP got almost if not all of the top ten)
Anyway, congratulations sa lahat ng mga bagong engineers!

seav, UP got all top ten.
I'm just happy for all of 'em. :)

Kaya pala. Nakita ko yung list sa GE Dept. and 12 people got into the top ten (dalawa sa 9 and 10). Eh since lahat from Diliman, I thought ranking iyon for Dil students only.
Diba GE ka, uptowngirl? Good luck! :)

Congratulations!
BTW, what does a Geodetic Engineer do?

they get a measuring tape, a protractor, a bubble level and a magnetic needle. following calculations to adjust for non-concentric rotation of the instruments, stretching of the tape and local magnetism, they get the area, location and direction of something.

Hi kahumbu! mac_bolan is correct. We do measure something like area, elevation for earthworks, hydrography, mining, etc... minus the proctractor and tape measure. We use electronic distance measurement devices, total stations that are purely electronic with prism, satellites and aerial photographs to assist us in the surveying process.
Now, GEs go into the fields of Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Geographic Information System, Aerial Photography and the likes.

Thanks uptowngirl and mac for the explanation. Although I have to admit na medyo mga 48.64% lang ang naintindihan ko. Wala pang kalahati. :D
I guess this means that GE's both rely and contribute to the development of GPS.
