On August 25, 2008, Chicane released their newest gem “Bruised Water”, a track that boasts of the brilliant Natasha Bedingfield on singing duties. The vocal trance-house amalgam calls on one of Chicane’s earliest hits, “Saltwater”, for inspiration, and the result is fantastic. Needless to say, Chicane is back on track.

Catch Chicane and its current lineup of Natasha Brocklebanks and Daniel Tooman on vocals, Simon Small on guitars, Carl Holt on bass, Mark Pusey on drums, Assaf Seewi on percussions, and of course Nick Bracegirdle on keyboards and programming on September 27, 2008 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City,. I assure you, it’ll be one hell of an experience to hear a great electronic music icon play with a full band in tow.

After the band of ear-and-soul-soothers visited this side of the tropics in 2006, a massive crowd paying homage to what sound swami Nick Bracegirdle (Spartan producer/ keyboardist/composer/ mix maestro behind Chicane’s decks) had created, business began to interfere with the music. “Easy to Assemble,” a stab at resur- gence after two successful records, couldn’t reach fans after tracks had been leaked on cyberspace; the much-anticipated album having been intercepted by Russian music pirates, Bracegirdle deciding against its wide distribution even if pre-released single “Love on the Run” had become a roaring crowd favorite.

Yet the shift in sound was but a mere speed blip in the unraveling journey of Chicane. The band would soon return to what prompted their countless adherents to sway and pump their fists in unison: the vocal trance-house that eased eardrums and lifted spirits. With righteous pop songstress Natasha Bedingfield backing a piping-hot, new single pulled from the Saltwater tank (it’s called “Bracewater,” if that wasn’t a crystal-clear sign of great things to come), Bracegirdle’s set to bring Chicane back on the smooth beat-driven track.

And back to Manila, of course — the electronic-whatever-you-wanna-call-it group’s third visit coming down like the sound wave of enlightenment we’ve all been waiting for. Tomorrow night (Sept. 27), at the World Trade Center, the music’s a damn good love to be on the run for.

GV GV *** performance ng chicane last night though nagkaroon ng technical problem sa sound system nila. masyado din mabilis *** performance nila *** pa atang 2 hours.. after nun we decided n mag in-house n *** sa astoria plaza for 20 hours continous partee drop drop drop..... *okay*

sobrang nakakahiya kaya sa chicane *** technical glitches nun.. nakakapahiya ng sobra sa kanila. 2 times nagdead air, iba pa *** mga "cracking sound" habang tumutugtog sila.

Umpisa pa lang ng palabas may problems na:
* The fireworks on the letters of Chicane na hindi umapoy
* The speakers went bust several times, probably overcapacitated.

Sayang talaga. Mukhang hindi lang seven songs (or less, I can't remember) ang nasa plano pero they have to cut it short. Big Fish tried to salvage the party by having John Boy Lee spin for another two or more hours. It was a valiant effort, I should say.
