Something sexy about Bureaucracy

By Ed Biado

First, there’s Embassy. Then, there’s Government. Is the trend of naming clubs after seats of power the new in thing? What’s next, Bureau? Wait, it is Bureau.

Club Bureau recently opened its doors to the party-savvy citizens of Metro Manila. Located right beside A.Venue on Makati Avenue within the Antel Lifestyle City, the new club will be having its grand launch on Aug. 22. To celebrate this exciting occasion, Bigfish chose the venue to hold its next party.

It’s time to get your sexy on as famed dance music label, Housexy, brings DJ Paul Deighton to the turntables of Club Bureau. Armed with his trademark underground house techniques and pushing the boundaries of the genre, Paul is all fired up to inaugurate the hip addition to Manila’s nocturnal circuit.

The inexhaustible DJ/producer is a regular player at many a Ministry of Sound/Housexy event and is featured in compilations like the Housexy album series and the old-school-recalling “It’s Only a Mixtape” series. He is named in the DJ Top 100 Downloads of All Time list, courtesy of his 2006 debut, “Omega 33,” released through Gung-Ho Records. Paul is so hot that he is also signed with other labels: Slip N Slide, One Foot in the Groove and Chega.

When it comes to spinning, Paul is bringing deep back, delving into the less familiar house beats and incorporating elements of techno and electro. That is the perfect formula to produce a sound that is fresh, but still recognizable. The non-textbook house interpretation is just what Housexy is all about as it accentuates on the reverberating undertones, inducing a sensual, touchy-feely state.

Sharing Paul’s spotlight on that sultry Friday evening is DJ Kevin Ruiz, our very own mob-pleaser. Kevin, a certified local hit, remains a perennial favorite since the late ’90s because of his flexibility, energy and ability to keep the crowd dancing for longer than they can imagine. He’s also equipped to retract and keep it simple with chillout beats to pump up the anticipation, leading up to an unstoppable momentum.

With these two at the controls, Club Bureau’s launch has success written all over it. You’d definitely want to be a part of that. Door charges are at a very friendly P300 with two drinks thrown in, meaning you have no reason not to get bureaucratic! Dress code: c’mon, it’s Housexy. There’s no explaining that, right?

Well I saw the new look of Emba, especially the hiphop room so the atmosphere was definitely for the hip-hop crowd with elevated vip areas near the DJ booth and in the corners.

Has anyone seen the lounge bar behind Bureau? 360 bar. :D
