I was a fashion victim before I isolate myself in a forsaken land of bland dressers... I am just curious if we are really influenced by the westen fashion styles like we saw in our Vogue,Cosmo, etc? or we are more more on the eastern Side Like Japanese Anime and stuff (korean telenobela styles. Me, I I like Japanese, Korean, I like the micro mini shirt, boots and overlaying shirts, with matching baseball cap. How about you? You can post a pic of your best aoutfit too.

It's not so simple but historically I would say started from the West, but generally I think that the "west" and the "east" exchange/influence each other's styles

That thought is not limited to the PH. I'm pretty sure most people around the world are influenced by what they see on tv. EM TEE VEE.

MTV would be next level compared to GMA/ABSCBN type of "steeze".

Well true, ABSCBN/GMA style is what I call adopted steez. A style that was made popular by another country, usually the US that is adopted by local brands into their line with a touch of Pinoy style. Of course it has to be done as cheaply and as mass market looking as possible to achieve that adopted steez certification.

Hmmm... lemme think of Pinoy's soap opera favorites... Juday, Bea, Angel Locsin.... but most of them is acting probinsyana. It's always the bad girl who are fashionista, could it be the reason why most of pinays wear pants and shirt because of that wholesome third world effect? I remember a host making a rough comment to a sloppy housewife in one of those reality dress up shows that she looks like a woman from a third world country.... Hmmm...

Unless you are wearing a traditional asian costume or something inspired by it, I don't see how you can say we wear "Eastern" fashion. Even our barong tagalog is just a European shirt.

Asian clothing:
Kimono, yukata, sari, sarong, malong, etc.

Western clothing:
2 and 3-piece suits, shirts (dress, polo, tee), trousers, etc.

These days traditional asian clothing is pretty much relegated to costumes for special occasions.

Filipinos have always been suckups for the US since time immemorial
So most likely its influenced by the west.

If a pinoy is wearing western clothing, he'll be branded as a normal/ among the norm.

If a pinoy is wearing eastern clothing he'll be branded weird, gaudy and even bordering on gay.

sad but true.
