baka naman pros and cons and hanap nitong TS.

better share more info about your career and situation first.

ano bang line of work mo? kung more of IT-related or call center-related, i think mas boom ngayon ang singapore. kung engineering naman, hospitality/tourism then mas ok siguro ang dubai or ME to say the least.

ahh bumpers... too bad very few here :D

mas mahirap yata sa arab countries unlike here @ singapore but it really depends on the job offer. hirap na din ** mas dumadami ang competition and bumababa ang demand.. daming nga layoff sa mga fabicons.. it's survival of the fittest.

one advantage of singapore is the proximity to pinas. mura pamasahe if you book ahead of time, and 4 hours away lang, pwede ka nga umuwi monthly if you want or if you can afford it. :)

why don't we list down the $$$

Singapore in SGD

Housing
HDB common room (government housing) 550 + 75 utilities = 400+ US$
Condo common room (private) 1000 + 120 utilities = 700+ US$

Form of transport
Bus 1.50
Train 1.50
Taxi 15-30 = 20+ US$

Tax
Income tax 5 - 15% can be paid after the tax year (i.e. hindi withholding tax like sa pinas)

Entertainment / month
TFC - 40 = 25+ US$
PinoyTV - 40

^^

Let's say food is around 100+ US$/mo.

Singapore would cost at least around 1,200+ US$/mo, plus the 5-15% tax deduction.

-------

Dubai/Abu Dhabi

Housing - 3,000 AED/single room = 800+ UD$ (includes utilities)

Transport
Taxi - 10-20 AED (ave.) = 5+ US$

Tax - free

Entertainment
TFC (ABS-CBN) - 240 AED/mo. = 65+ US$/mo.
Orbit (GMA) - same

Food - 500 AED = 100+ US$

whereas, Dubai/Abu Dhabi would cost around 970 US$, and salary is tax-free.

it therefore appears that the cost-of-living in Singapore is relatively higher.

now, it all depends on how much you'll most probably earn from your prospective line of work.

Kaya yung iba nagiipon lang and then nagmimigrate sa ibang bansa.

Sa Singapore kasi malapit sa Pilipinas, mas madaling umuwi especially for a weekend in the Philippines.

i think Dubai is well-geared to battle the current economic crisis compared to Singapore in terms of liquidity and capital injections dahil may back-up facility ang Dubai when all else fail kumpara sa Singapore...

If I want to work in Singapore with the package that what i'm asking sagot sa akin agad "hindi" ... unless kung Singaporean daw ako.. or high manegerial level yung inaaplayan ko which I lack of pa..

IMO right now sa ME.. Lebanon pa rin ang IT Hub...

^^ sa Singapore kasi halos karamihan ng nadidinig ko medyo mababa ang offers, dito kasi sa UAE kaya mong kitain ng more than 3 times ang salary na binibigay sa Singaporean PR/citizen and sagot pa ng company ang airfare.

just imagine magkano binibigay sa mga expats (not PRs/citizens).....way way lower than in UAE, generally...

Depende yan sa company na ngooffer. Pero if you'll be working sa bank, I think mas malaki ang bigayan nila.

Sa experience ko kasi, mas maganda ang offer dito sa Singapore kesa sa Dubai which is 4x what I'm earning in Dubai.

Case to case basis yan.

^ depende nga talaga... tsaka at what amount ang pinag uusapan?
ok fine sabihin natin sa Dubai salary mo is 2.5k to 3k dirhams... sa singapore kayang 3x higitan yan agad kung tutuusin at sa ibang company sa within UAE kayang tumbasan yan...

nintendoboy
Feb 24, 2009, 06:48 PM
agreed. depende din talaga.

pero when it comes to proximity sa pinas at work mates, i think pabor ang SG dahil Asians din mostly katrabaho mo, which somehow you'll feel a homey feeling......

example

IT Manager maximum 10k sgdollar
vs UAE 30k dirhams (non caucasian pa yan)

^^ ay ganun ba dre....

mostly sa IT industry siguro sa SG puro anaps din as what i've heard.

sa accounting/finance/banking industry naman, according sa mga kakilala ko doon, mostly mga SG citizens, Chinese and Malaysians ang nakakasama nila, which is for me medyo okay, kumpara sa mga anaps hehehe (opinyon ko lang po ito..)

yes...

im talking about the maximum salary na pwede mong mahingi kasi depende talaga sa company at offer... same as SG... problema sa SG may bracket silang sinusundan kaya hindi ganon namamaximize yung offer.. like database admin.. maximum offer is 8k SG plus tax..dito pwede ka pang makahirit ng mas malaki pa sa 8k SG..

another question sa mga SG peeps... yung perks pala ano meron?

like
- Yearly Air ticket?
- Health Insurance
- Gratuity?
- Family Air Ticket?
- 100% or 80% Children School Fees?
- bonuses?

IMO

pang additional info lang po. hehehe.
i checked about the 10k SG vs 30k dirhams salary for the Sys/Network Admin work, when converted to Philippine peso today:
10k SG = P317K and 30k dirhams = P394k.

yun lang po. hahaha. how i wish ganito kalaki salary ko. im building a career in networking and sana may makapagbigay ng tips jan. mabuhay ang mga pinoys abroad!

- Yearly Air ticket? Most don't unless you work for an airline. Anyway, with 3 budget airline plying SG to Pinas, di na masyado ang impact nito.
- Health Insurance? Most will have
- Gratuity? Tips are not encourage in Singapore, even for the service industry.
- Family Air Ticket? Not unless you work on the airline industry or you are in the CxO level
- 100% or 80% Children School Fees? School fees are *cheap*, unless you enroll your kids at international schools. Again, this is only given for CxO level.
- bonuses? Only for perm staff.

yes...

kung work at sahod paguusapan mas ok daw dubai.

kung work and family mas ok sa singapore.

pwede ba mag jogging sa dubai kahit anong oras or mag bike sa kalsada?
