Sablay means bagsak?
Below National Passing Rate? Below 50% ?
Kapag may nagpakita sa akin ng proof na meron colleges sa UST na sablay ang performance sa board exam, may libreng Round Trip Ticket - First Class Ammodation to Vancouver via Air Canada.
Kapag wala, Round Trip Ticket to UP via UP-Ikot jeep.

By sablay I mean the board exam's performance relative to your medical programs.
In absolute terms, yung tipong marginally better (52%) than the national avarage (48.7%). Yung almost half ng population, bagsak sa boards (13 passed out of 25).
Not the performance we should expect from a university that some quarters claim to be in "excellence in all fields".
But until then, UST must strive harder to really claim the "UST's excellence in all fields".
BTW, I did not post to "steal your thunder" so to speak. UST deserves it after all.
But during my stay here, I've never maligned any schools at all. If my latest posts give that impression, my apologies :)

sablay is a negative word. kahit samahan ng medyo sa unahan, negative pa rin yun. that could either mean below or just slightly over national passing rate. in that case, i beg to disagree. UST consistently leads the pack [tho not necessarily means always on the topmost position]. ;)

wala po mining and metallurgical engineering courses sa USTe.. tsaka wala ka na pong maililista kasi sinabi na nga ng CHED & PRC na, just like UPD, there were only 5 boards out of 19 na average lang performance ng USTe.. not necessarily sablay, but not as good as the 14 other boards where UST excels.. for UP it's 5 out of 20, which is a bit better.

Do your research.
Then again, I won't gain anything by lying. Do you really think that I just pulled those numbers out of my own *** just to prove a point?
I have the numbers. For God's sake, I attended my oathtaking and that stat was given to us.
But if you really insist, dig up some threads here. I posted a scanned copy of that stat. But of course, I'll spoil the party by making it easy for you. Do your part! :naughty:

Uulitin ko, WALA!Will you categorically say that by "wala" you mean even half of the batch fails the board?
So malakas parin ang performance pag kalahati ang bagsak? With all due respect sa mga taga UST, I think it's just plain mediocre especially UST practically aces the medical field.
In absolute terms however, UST doesn't do as bad let's say compared with a University in Intramuros. Then again, some PExers claim UST's "excellence in all fields".
That's a hardsell.

Makikisawsaw na po. SCUD I have to agree with DACS' statements above [well, in general]. I come from the Faculty of Engineering and yes our board performance is not that 'glamorous' compared to the other colleges of UST. Sobrang lawak ng passing rate range namin sa board, I think 60-90%. On the average, around 75%. Though I do not agree with him calling the faculty's board performance mediocre [top ten pa rin naman yun nationwide], the call for improvement is long overdue.

I also have my proof, and yes galing yun sa binigay mong scanned image na nasa photobucket.

April 2005
University of the Philippines Diliman - 41/43 - 96%
University of The Philippines Los Baños - 34/46 - 94%
De La Salle University Manila - 16/18 - 88%
University of San Carlos - 5/7 - 71%
Central Philippine University - 7/11 - 64%
Saint Louis University - 20/32 - 63%
University of Santo Tomas - 9/18 - 50%
Batangas State University - 4/8 - 50%
Cebu Institute of Technology - 11/23 - 48%
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila - 2/5 - 40%
Adamson University - 18/47 - 38%
Mapua Institute of Technology - 36/131 - 27%
Nov. 2005 - to be provided by DACS :)
April 2007
DLSU 95%
UPLB 82%
UPD 80%
SLU 61%
UST 58%
Dacs
Aug 10, 2008, 11:39 AM
I'm not talking about COE here, and I'm not talking about DLSU (or any school for that matter) either. Bakit mo naman isinama yun? UST and board exam performace lang ang topic natin.
Bigla atang bumaba ang standard natin, from sweeping the top 10 spots and having a spectacular passing rate to merely barely making 50-60% passing rate. 3.0 sa UP iyan. Pasang awa ika nga.
You just simply cannot refute my claim. Supalpal pala ha? What are you smoking in Vancouver lately?
This is purely my subjective opinion but until UST can produce the performance at par with UP, then it will still be "sablay" to the claim of "excellence in all fields"
Yung iba nga dito kinukutya ang UP kung hindi 100% ang passing, sinasabi na di naman pala magaling ang UP.
Tapos heto? Talking about double standards here :uh:
So let me quote myself and please, answer this:
Will you categorically say that by "wala" you mean even half of the batch fails the board?
Look at the numbers yourself. Compare it with let's say, UST's performance in this thread.
Then claim that UST Chemical Engineering program is as par as its medical fields. That is, "excellence in all fields".
Take the liberty to replace my "sablay" with ________________ :D
Nakngteteng naman ginagawa mo akong "row 4" eh (as I quote my father). Give me more credit than that
Then tell me in my face that UST ChE program is "very excellent".
And who said na "binababa" ko ang kaledad ng UST? All I'm claiming is that UST's ChE program is not as "excellent" as some of you claim. Ginawa mo pa akong talangka. It's not my style you know.
What does that line contribute to the topic?
Sarap talaga dito sa Academe :naughty:
For the level-headed UST PExers: For the nth time, I'm not discrediting UST at all. All I'm refuting is the claim of "excellence in all fields". Because the numbers don't lie.
I for myself would be the first person to look forward on the day that UST can produce 100% passing rate (and for ALL schools for that matter). It only shows that our educational system is improving and we're capable of producing engineers for our country.
And it won't be accomplished by posting in PEx claming "excellence in all fields" (I love that line)
UST is surely going there, but not quite there enough.
Iapak sa lupa ang paa kasi marami pa tayo (I mean lahat tayo) kakainin.
At pasintabi na rin sa mga former colleagues ko from UST that may have glanced on this topic. Most of you do very well in our work.

My apologies, the word mediocre is used relative to UST's medical programs. You can see that I added another line that compares its performance to a university in Intramuros.
Then again, some UST PExers claim "excellence in all fields".

Nov. 2005 Chemical Eng'g -
UP-Diliman 86%
DLSU - 67%
UST - 56%
Saint Louis University - 51%
Adamson U - 36%
Batangas State University - 24%
April 2004 - DLSU-1st , UST-2nd
November 2004 - Adamson-5th , UST-8th
April 2005 - Batangas State U-3rd , UST 9th
November 2005 - DACS-6th, others - none
April 2006 - none
November 2006 - Batangas State U-1st , UST-4th, Saint Louis U-9th
April 2007 - DLSU -1st,4th,5th,8th
November 2007 - UST-8th
April 2008 - Adamson-1st , Batangas State U-4th , DLSU-9th
'Wag ganun, mali yun :naughty:

I never claimed that. In fact, I never claimed anything!
To be fair however, I will, should I see one. If anything, the only thing that I did wrong in this topic is to reply to trolls, which I don't normally do.
What I did however, was fair. I claimed something, someone asked for a proof, and proof I gave.
When I usually see a PExer pull a frivolous claim, I usually shrug it off. I dunno what made my lid went off this time.
e hindi naman.. :bop:
Elaborate please?

Mali yun boss, masyado kang assuming, bordering ad hominem yan eh.
We should congatulate the new PT and OTs in the industry.

Huwat?!

Guys, I need to apologize.
I have mistaken the picture I used for my own batch. S_C_U_D is right, I got the wrong table.
During my batch, UST got 56% (57 out of 101, national passing is 48%).
The table that I quoted would be for the next batch, April 2006 ChE board exam.
I truly apologize for the mixup. I honestly thought that I used the right table. I was wrong :D

wala po mining and metallurgical engineering courses sa USTe.. tsaka wala ka na pong maililista kasi sinabi na nga ng CHED & PRC na, just like UPD, there were only 5 boards out of 19 na average lang performance ng USTe.. not necessarily sablay, but not as good as the 14 other boards where UST excels.. for UP it's 5 out of 20, which is a bit better.
moreso, i also think your posts are a bit hostile because they're baseless, just like buthc2koy's.
Awts. Naging hostile pa ako. :mecry:
Okay, wala akong intensiyong mang-away.
