I agree. Rico is really focus on his game. He is great on offense and on defense. He no longer doing his past antics and just support Sir JV with his scoring. Hope that the rest of the team finds their focus and game so that by Thursday we have the chance to tie the series. Sir JV and Rico needs all the help from the rest of the team.

Yeah, Rico and JV were the only players that really delivered come crunch time. Yung iba hilaw na hilaw pa eh... tensed and hesitant... I hope the rest just let their instinct lead them like that JV and Rico has done in the final minutes.. don't want them to just provide room for the two, they have to really breakthrough and deliver the goods. Knowing na dehadong-dehado tayo when it comes to height, the rest of the team really has to step-up big time!

I think its time to acknowledge the fact that.. WE NEED TO DEVELOP BIG GUYS! The Archers really needs to "beef-up"! If you put in Rabeh, Baclao, Buenafe, Escueta... tatangayin talaga whoever dares to get in the way...

The offense is not working! I hope that there is a plan B for this. I hope that Walsham and Joshua be placed in the rotation!

I think Rabeh is unstoppable. But the rest of the Ateneo Blue Eagles aren't. The Green Archers limited Tiu, Baclao and Salamat yesterday. Unfortunately, hindi nila nalimit si Jai Reyes and Ryan. Yung kay Jai Reyes lang, yung three-point niya nung before the halftime is a crucial one. Hindi siya nadikitan dun, open shot. Even si Ryan, yung first quarter 3 point shot niya, open din. 12 points si Jai, 8 points lang lamang Ateneo. So, I think the key is stopping all the other Eagles, and let Rabeh do the scoring, bacause Rabeh can only do so much for the team, he will need the help of his teammates.

I am still hopeful for the Green Archers.

Senator Webb was right when he cited that the 2 DLSU PGs in Atkins and Revilla need to convert some outside shots in order for their team to have a chance in winning the next game.

With Casio coming of stagger screens on the wing, the defenders of the PGs sagged inside and it resulted to bad spacing as Casio had difficulty in launching those threes. The ADMU guards cheated defense, and that is why 2 or more defenders were always there when Casio receives the ball.

Both Revilla and Atkins were outplayed by Salamat and Reyes. Revilla was indecisive at times especially in passing the ball on fastbreaks as his passes were sometimes one second late or premature. La Salle here is feeling the loss of their top notch PG in **** last year. You'll always have a difficulty in winning if your PGs aren't ready

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle and Ateneo were the two most favorite universities in the Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), according to the SWS Sports Survey done from March 30 to April 2, 2008.

The survey also found San Beda College and Colegio de San Juan de Letran taking the top spots as most favorite colleges in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

To the survey question, “Concerning the universities included in the UAAP, which are your two favorites, if any, because of their doings in sports? We are referring to all sports, not just basketball" 12 percent of adult Filipinos cited La Salle, and 10% cited Ateneo.

Following them were the University of Sto. Tomas (5%), University of the Philippines (4%), Far Eastern University (3%), and Adamson University (2%).

None of the respondents to the April 2008 SWS Sports Survey cited the National University, while 3% mentioned schools that are not members of the UAAP.

About a fifth (22%) said they have no favorite university in the UAAP, 29% do not know, and 25% have not heard or read anything about the UAAP.

In Metro Manila, La Salle (27%) and Ateneo (23%) were the two most popular universities in the UAAP, with UST (13%) at second place. FEU and UE were tied at third place, with 10% each, followed by UP (9%) and AdU (5%).

In Balance Luzon, La Salle was cited by 10%, followed by Ateneo (6%), and UST (5%). UP and FEU were tied at fourth place with 3% each, while each of UE and AdU were cited by 2%.

In the Visayas, 13% cited La Salle as one of their favorite universities in the UAAP, 10% cited Ateneo, 4% UP, and 3% FEU. Each of UST and UE were cited by 2%, while AdU was cited by 1%.

In Mindanao, Ateneo was cited by 8%, followed by La Salle (6%), UP (3%), UST (2%), and FEU (1%).

Awareness of the UAAP was relatively lower outside Metro Manila: two out of five (40%) of adults in Mindanao have not heard or read anything about UAAP, 24% in the Visayas, and 23% in Balance Luzon, compared to only 8% in Metro Manila.

La Salle was most popular among the upper-middle class ABC, with 15% citing it as one of their most favorite universities in the UAAP, followed by FEU (10%), Ateneo (9%), UST (8%), UE (7%), and UP (3%).

Among class D, or the masa, 14% cited La Salle, followed by Ateneo (12%), UST (6%), and UP (4%). FEU and UE were cited by 3% each, while AdU was cited by 2%.
Among class E, 7% cited La Salle, followed by Ateneo (4%), and UP (3%). FEU and AdU were tied at fourth place with 2% each, while UST and UE were cited by 1% each.
Awareness of the UAAP tended to be lower among class E, with 34% saying they have not heard or read about UAAP, compared to 22% among class D and 15% among class ABC.

we also need solid contributions from BARUA and MANGAHAS. i think they were the missing link in our last game. i know mangahas went into early foul trouble, but in the second half, he wasn't focused either and let his emotions get the better of him. he should have let go of salamat's hard foul eh di he saved 1 foul sana. anyway, i want to see these 2 step up NOW, not only because we need them in order to win in the finals but also, we need to see that the future of dlsu basketball is secured under their leadership next season together with Rico.

One good thing though is that Rico is showing signs of maturity. I like the fact the he is so focused and was playing all heart in Game 1.

i hope magclick na ang offense natin, in and out pa rin mga tira eh, we need the shots to go IN. anyway... it ain't over 'til its over. so i hope the archers will go all out this thursday.

Being a former archer staff, all i can say is that this current line-up plays like pussie. No Gaco, No Sharma, No Locsin, No Rocas, just a bunch of conio kids. If everyone of the players plays like softie wimps, doesnt play physical by throwing elbows or knees, im personally going to boooooo them and offer them tissues after the game. Thats why no one can stop the terrorist, we need someone deep in our bench to be a freakin jack bauer, or its all over in 24 hours.

Thats just sa center position and the PF position. What about the SF position. Cardona and company is just way too physical compared to the current roster. In my honest opinion Santiago ruined the whole season for DLSU, by not utilizing the entire bench and finding physical enforcers when Franz was away.

Seriously, Yu-Go Archer has a point but I don't believe they are wimps. Most of the line up didn't have enough playing time last year. In way, they are still raw with only Hofer and Casio (and fine, Walsham) as veterans.

By now, hopefully, their confidence and ego have been bruised enough to retaliate. The skill is there, we just need to bring back the INTENSITY.

I don't usually like replying to this kind of post but I just can't help but butt in. blue&green is right, the accuser has the burden to prove that the one he is accusing really did whatever he is accusing him with. The accused shouldn't be expected to prove that he is not the one who did it, otherwise we can just accuse anyone with conclusiveness; thus chaos. Kayo naman eh kayo na nga nagbibintang mga pinagbibintangan pa ang dapat magprove na hindi sila yun. Presumption of guilt? sheesh.

I honestly did not know that the animo cheer was used a lot by San Beda or that Ateneo had really used it before. Most of my family members are either ateneans or bedans but even they didn't know about that little fact.

Animo is a spanish word for courage. As such, each and every team in the world has the right to use it for their cheer. Unless you have to own that word....which would be a bit too much, really.

On Topic:

Questionable calls aside, the Game 2 of the finals was a pretty good game. I already said it before that this season's championship is Ateneo's to lose. I'm happy that they won and that La Salle did not just give up even if the odds were against them.

Switik came from the word Jesuitic, which was used to describe the Jesuits maybe about 200 or more years ago (way, way before the La Salle-Ateneo rivalry). Jesuitic meant just that -- mang-iisa because Jesuits were and are still known to be like that. Eventually it evolved to switik. hay pati APcom. hayz ayoko manisi baka random person lang yan na nangugulo. pero naghihinala din ako, either from blue or red lang ang gumawa nyan, gusto ipamuka satin yung animo nila dahil pareho silang nanalo(or mananalo) ng championship. pero ok lang, like a fellow la sallite said that malas na ng ateneo pag di pa sila nanalo *****, lahat nasa kanila na, improved defense, mvp, another mvp(sponsor), nabro, defensive player, deeper line-up, etc. congratulations! im proud that our team getting half of the 2007 lineup back and a bunch of rookies that played well at least half of the time was able to work as a team to reach the finals. congratulations too Green Archers. learn from our mistakes, and don't make the calls get to you because letting it will tell the "refs" that you're too emotional and he will call more. goodluck and lets recruit the rp youth team

agree@GOJ , especially with our football teams. DLSZ will be defending its crown in the Juniors tournament, and our women's football squad, albeit the absence of Steph Pheasant and Sam Bermudez due to graduation, are favored to clinch the crown, given the expected maturity of the second-year players after their baptism of fire in last season's finals. As for the men's team, expect them to go all out following their disappointing campaign last year because of injuries. Here's to a hat trick to Coach Hans, who'll be mentoring all three squads.

It is expected that the Blue side would also be fielding a strong team in football, as their HS squad are the "defending" runners-up, as well as their men's team ( which boosted their recruiting pool by getting players from Xavier and *gasp* DLSZ). Their women's team has maintained its core of players coming from Woodrose and DLSZ.

It would be nice to see our teams square off against Ateneo in the finals of each football division, and of course, winning the crown would be much sweeter, and a revenge of sorts to our men's team which placed 2nd to Ateneo in the 2006 football finals.

As for the women's volleyball team, Manilla Santos will be back (I saw her on several occassions practicing with the team at Razon) to help Michelle Datuin, Stephanie Mercado and Jacqui Alarca in regaining the status of the Lady Spikers as one of the UAAP's best volleyball squads.

Ateneo currently has 44 combined UAAP and NCAA basketball titles, which includes titles in juniors and women's basketball. This is more than the number of total titles held by the University of Santo Tomas, which has 42 (40 UAAP and 2 NCAA), San Beda College, which has 29 (all in the NCAA, of which it is currently a member), Colegio de San Juan de Letran with 26 (all in the NCAA, of which it is currently a member), and De La Salle University-Manila, which has 23 (10 in the NCAA, and 13 in the UAAP).

In men's basketball, the Ateneo Blue Eagles have won 14 NCAA titles, and 4 UAAP titles, for a total of 18.

Guys, nung nanalo na ang ateneo, syempre group hug, photos, cheer. Super tagal nun bago kumanta ang ateneo ng school song nila. Then after that syempre it's DLSU's turn. Pagtapos non diba dapat medyo umeksena sana dapat *** mga tao para sa awarding ceremonies... Kaso walang nangyaring ganon... Nag-alisan na unti unti ang mga Lasallians at inescortan na rin *** mga archers palabas ng court.

Yung kabila super cheer parin sige lang masaya kasi dahil panalo. Tapos bago pa natupad *** awarding ceremonies (na meron pala talaga) e ininterview muna sila baclao at chris tiu ata. Mga nakaupo pa sila sa monoblock chairs. Super tagal ulit nun. Bago nagsalita tong si Boom for the awarding.

Kung iisipin niyo, awarding ceremonies halos wala ng tao sa DLSU side. Ilan ilan na lang kaming nandoon. Nung tinawag nga na runner up DLSU pumalakpak pa kami kasama ng ilang mga Gang Green kaso wala na talaga kumuha kasi uwian mode na.

See, even though Ateneo does not win all the time in the championship, I admire their players prioritizing their academics... When I asked some admu people I know about the recruitment of their players... they were like, "ewan ko jan sa mga yan!" :rotflmao: para silang nanlilimahid... sorry..

This is just my opinion ha, pero it seems like naging basketball for basketball's sake ang nangyari sa Ateneo this year because its their 150th year and they were desperate to win... parang nawala na ang intellectual calibre ng mga players... maliban nalang talaga kela Chris Tiu and Jai Reyes... Baclao they say does not take his education for granted and that's good.. but for the others... i don't know..

No, it doesn't hurt to be a Lasallian even if we lost. It's bringing us closer and coping up with how the refs screwed the team (next time teach your refs to stop look and listen) and how ateneans are turning the no-show in the awarding as a character trial. It's been hard but we're all right. We're coping up with the loss.

Goodluck with the bonfire atenites. Nakuha nyo ba yung mga 2nd place paraphernalia namin? Sunugin nyo sa bonfire kung trip-trip nyo.
