WE GO, WE FIGHT!!!

GO BASTE!!!
WE GO, WE FIGHT!!!

I can only answer with conviction regarding SBC's preparations for the years ahead and rest assured that San Beda is well prepared in terms of recruitment and training to achieve the "Final Four contender status" year in, year out.

As for San Sebastian, just basing on their off-season performances, it is quite evident that they are dead-serious to become a force to reckon with in the years to come. A lot of players are showing glaring improvements i.e. Bulawan, Ballesteros etc. Add to that, the possibility of Bringas playing for the Stags next year. As to their recruitment system, maybe some of the in-the-know Sebastinian posters here can shed some light regarding this matter.

You are right, SBC vs. SSCR match-ups will be pretty much interesting starting this year: Ekwe-Udo vs. a new and improved Ballesteros.

Regarding preparations, I think that SBC have started to raise the bar and set the standard for the past two years. It's up to the other NCAA teams to improve their recruitment system, player development and basketball system to level-up or even surpass what was previously set by SBC.

Although, IMHO, the SBC Red Lions aren't thinking about anything more than their 3rd straight championship. Undue pressure might spoil everything.

Here's to an exciting NCAA 84th Men's Basketball Season!

Baste's 5 straight championships are not the only ones in peril if San Beda sustains its winning ways in the NCAA. San Beda might end up with the most championship titles in the NCAA. So good luck to San Beda in its record breaking quest.

Yeah, goodluck na lang sa San Beda!!!
Goodluck sa 2 team!!!
Pero I still hope all the best for San Sebastian!!!

GUDLUCK BASTE!!!

The NCAA rules in the 90s were different. When San Sebastian won five straight championships, there were no Final Four rules yet. In fact, the rule was: the team that tops both rounds (whether it's a sweep or not) automatically becomes the champion. When San Sebatian started its championship run, there were only 6 NCAA teams. Now, there are 8 teams with a Final Four semifinal rule.

And record is still a record. And still history is a history!

GO BASTE!!!

though i agree with you to a certain extent. id still think that even if there were already 8 teams then, even if they already implemented the final4 format, SSCR would still have won though not as easily.

they had a powerful starstudded team that were good up till the 12th and 13th man. as i recall majority of those players even made it up all the way into the PBA which just shows how talented their lineup was. they also even dueled with UST (which was the dominant team back then in the UAAP) in some exhibition games and beat them handily.

I watched this game. This was in 1994 when the Stags, led by Rodney Santos and Rommel Adducul, defeated the Tigers, led by Dennis Espino and Edmund Reyes.

I think it's too early to start this thread, SBC is only gunning for it's 4th straight championship and the teams now is very much different compared in the past. much stronger line-up's. personally I think sbc will be having a hard time defending it's title. If sbc will be champions again in season 85, we can talk about its intentions of a 5 peat. for me it's just too early to discuss about.

my two cents worth:)

If Sudan Beda really has an intention to score an NCAA 5-peat in the Seniors, then I say, what a bad (or cruel) intention it is!:D Yes, the Red Lions have raised the bar in the league for the past 2-3 years...as far as playing with an import is concerned, an act soon to be followed by JRU, if not the Red Lions themselves. In 2010, Beda is set to lose the core of its last Red Cubs champion squad who joined their Seniors team.

Regarding the funny and senseless note that only 6 teams competed in the NCAA Seniors during the 1990s domination of the Golden Stags, well, maybe someone out there is trying to be sensible to believe that PCU and CSB could have prevented the Stags' multiple championship conquests during that time. Heck, it is more sensible to imagine that had the Dolphins and the Blazers joined the fray earlier, they may have actually helped the Stags improve their winning percentage. Another sensible imagination is seeing guest teams Arellano U and EAC preventing Sudan Beda's attempt to go four-ward this year than then newbies PCU and CSB complicating the chances of SSC-R winning 5 straight crowns during the last decade.

Why keep on associating the name Baste with San Beda. Personally I don't give a ***** if SSC collected 5 championship. It's a different era.

Moreover, it's to early to know who the strong team will be. Kaya kayong mga taga Baste wag masyadong atat.

Like what I have said before, JRU will go for the kill this season. JRU has an intact lineup + a good foreign recruit.

As for SBC.syempre support lang kami no matter what.Bilog ang bola baka makasundot kami. para ano pa at nag three peat kami. We have the advantage in terms of experience.

let us give it to the San Sebastian Stags that they

that 5peat says nothing about the current NCAA. its all in the past. you guys live in the past and that's the reason you can't move forward. you guys felt contented with this and look where it has taken you. palagi nyong pinagyayabang pero pag may nag tanong na "ano na ba ang nangyari sa baste after the 5 peat???"...alam nyo na siguro ang sagot!

buti pa ang letran at mga letranista..di nila pinagyayabang na sila ang may pinakamaraming championship after ateneo..kasi they know how to look forward..they never dwell in the past.look at them now, year in and year out the knights are there to be a pain in the arse against any opponent even against the red lions. Kaya i have high regards for them Knights.

oo nga pala when was the last time you guys won the championship.??ah that was 12 years ago na nga pala and counting. so who has the drought now quiapo boys?

don't be too cocky boys from quiapo!!season 85 is yet to begin.!!

eeehem... Did you just say they know how to look forward and never dwell in the past?

AHAHAHA! AHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wala pa naman ang La Salle at Ateneo nung 1965 - 1971...

The fact that they accomplished 7 straight titles says a lot for UE's basketball program during that time. Many thanks to one living legend, Bobby Jaworski.

Respect? Ito lang masasabi ko dyan! Respect shall be given to those ones who know how to respect others! :) Yun lang. But nevertheless kung sa tingin mo may nasabi akong offensive I do apoligize! :)

One thing's for sure "We are ready to defend our crown" and we believe that we still have what we call "the element of suprise". most team is already bragging about their line-ups and trash talking already on how strong their team is. exposing their players for scouting and assesment. but that's just fine w/ us PERFECT!

Good luck to us all!

Peace

It's great to mention San Beda's streak to that company of UE, UST, Las Salle and lately ( more 15 years ago ) SSC... But to compare them with SSC ?..I don't think it's necessary.....it's too old..

This era is San Beda's own dynasty...they deserved the glory...it's only a matter of time when the streak will end..and another team will rise to the challenge.

we have our own identity we need not associate ourselves from those schools from the UAAP. San Beda has it's own rich tradition.

Ang since you guys are off-topic, flamebaiting each other, and using textspeak, I have no choice but to close this thread! The discussion has turned stale because of comparisons and sour because of personal attacks and sarcastic remarks. ;)

LOCKDOWN! *okay*
