I was meaning to get a pair of S0120XJ from Samurai.

But I don't know the first thing about them.

Gusto ko nga ding magkaroon ng "A.P.C. New Standard" kaso nga lang broke ako ngayon.

I think that those two jeans both originate from an earlier version of the Levis 501.

what's a "raw denim" ano difference neto sa regular na maong?

camisaroja
May 18, 2008, 01:51 PM
Thanks D-Grey.

BTW sa tingin mo magkaka honycombs din yang Sugarcanes or yung A.P.C lang ang nagkaka ganun?

D-Grey
May 19, 2008, 09:49 AM
Sa tingin ko magkaka honey combs din sila parehas dahil parehas silang high quality cotton at depende sa iyo kung paano mo gamitin dahil may proseso yata kung paano ma develop iyon (nilalagyan yata ng starch?)

"raw denim" is denim that is not treated or washed. Ibig sabihin wala siyang mga fades at isang kulay lang siya kaya ikaw na ang maglalagay ng mga fades through regular use. Nag coconform din yata siya sa katawan mo kaya mas gumaganda ang fit at parang magiging one of a kind siya.

supercrapper
May 19, 2008, 09:05 PM
all raw jeans tend to develop honeycombs and the atari .. or whiskers on the front thigh part .... its advisable not to wash the raw jeans for the first few months .. especially if u live in a cooler climate you can prolly go for 8-12 mos without washing just air the jeans out so it doesnt smell

a new pair of raw jeans ... not mine borrowed from another forum

Is this bad? I started letting go of some of my normal jeans. (DKNY, Micheal Kors, Levis ) gave it to some mates and my dad.

I dunno what got into me but I realized that ones my Eternals get here I won't be needing those regualr jeans that much anymore. I just like got 3 regular ones left, and yes one of those jeans are them Kirkland mofos sombody got me from either target or costco. They saved me legs more than once. When ever I fall of my scooter or superbike I don't end up ****ing my legs, I end up with some out of place fading.

If too loose, do a cold soak

If too snug do a hot soak

Hi,
I have 3 pairs of raw BLACK jeans. 2 overdyed Topman and one Ben Sherman (they're still on sale at Shang, I think -- items 30%-50% off!). The topmans are selvedge, Ben Sherman is not although I DID see a selvedge pair at the Shangri-La branch, just none in my size.

Some comments on my jeans:
- I've worn one of the Topman jeans for almost 4 months straight, no washing, and there is no fading visible. This suits me fine.
- My Topman has nice heavy denim and some nice details -- liner on the pockets and belt oops, nice sturdy buttons. Unfortunately the quality control is not so good -- there are crooked stiches.
- The Ben Sherman has nice details as well (a sweet Union Flag rivet!), but the denim does not seem as solid as the Topman's. Quality Control is better than Topman.
- Neither the Topman or Ben Shermans have any back pocket stitching, which for me is good. I don't like back pocket stitching much.

If you're at Shangri-La, there is a store there (Homme et Femme) that has APC (sometimes) and Acne. Good luck finding a size, though. They're not aware of the size-down-two rule for APC (smallest is 29"), and the smallest Acne they had was a 34 waist.

While at Shangri-La, drop by the Polo by Ralph Lauren boutique to check out the jeans. The "Vintage 68" is selvedge. They were on sale 2 weeks ago.

In Greenbelt 3 there is a shop that sells "premier" jeans. They carry Ernest Sewn (look for the Fulton model), but unfortunately no raw versions. None of their other brands are worth looking at.

So you're saying it's still premature to write off the topman jeans? One of my friends is wating for me to get my eternals before buying a pair of selvedge for himself.

IMO the raw Topman jeans are fine, even the non-selvedge ones. Just check the quality of each jean before going to the checkout counter. They're cheap enough to experiment with, and the cuts are generally good. You may even want to experiment with their "coated" jeans. (GAP put out a coated jean couple seasons ago which got good fades).

Another "problem" with Topman jeans is they don't come in odd sizes. So it's size 28, 30, 32, etc. If you're in between sizes (like me) you either size down one or up one. I did both, hence my two pairs. :)

Is it better to size down or stay true to size specially on jap jeans? Because the ones I bought should be just right but when it arrived, they were kinda loose.

brianpex
Jun 7, 2008, 01:35 AM
Email/PM Mauro on SF. They got new stock in last Tuesday. I made sure they had my size in the current shipment from APC and waited...

Mauro announces new stock arrivals on SF before they get to enter it on the website. You have to paypal him (or do a phone order to the store, with your credit card) and tell him what you're ordering. If you paypal him and what you want isn't in stock, he'll give you a full refund, so it's cool. What doesn't get snapped up immediately, they enter in the website inventory.

The website checkout has been having problems, but they're working on it. In the meantime, it's much safer to email, PM, or call the store to check for availability.

BTW they should be having another shipment in a few weeks, probably in July.

nice! there's a raw denim thread as well over here. jsn from sufu here, you should ask edmond to talk about raw denim here. Denim-wise, I think very few is at par with his knowledge in Manila. (even though, he only got on it maybe less than 1 or 2 years back, he's a pretty dedicated guy.)

Back to the topic, my current rotation is kinda on both end of the spectrum:

FH3001 (without backpocket stitching/post Levi's lawsuit), pretty slim.
Visvim Fluxus 05 (something like a 505 cut), cut is pretty loose/full.

my other pair: APC New Standards that don't fit anymore. Anybody want to buy it? It's a sz 26 and has some decent fades goin' on, but still has lots of life on it. Worn for a year but on and off, actual days of wear maybe 6-7 months tops.

I wore the Uniqlos (Premium Dark Denim straight 33x34) the first time today. (all day) I must say the denim is on the light side compared to the Eternsals but the fit is awsome. The jeans hug the *** very well (no homo) and the croth area is not that nut hugging. Some nice stacking as well.

I think it would be ok since Im getting them for free. So far I haven't seen any really good raw selvedge denim with my size available at a price of under $200.... But Im seriously thinking about them... It's not often that I get free jawns...

Any other sites selling jap denim that's based in the US with an online shop?

I think a true size 32 or 33

The Uniqlo 33s are too loose arround the waist already.

Hi,
So I won this ebay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120269581820) and got this in the mail today:

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/9103/67773ji4.th.jpg (http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=67773ji4.jpg)

My first pair of Levi's in a couple of years. What do you think?

I also got this 502 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120269584207) but I think I'll turn them into shorts...

Did I get a good deal? Anyway it comes out cheaper than getting plain ol' 501s from a mall here.

Those must be some old jawns I bet they have the old school craftsmanship that can last you ages.... (Levis big E)

Anyway here are some Uniqlo denim pics. Safe to say Im never buying these kind of jeans again unless they make one in 21oz. They are soo soft and thin...

^it's UniQlo man. Nope, no stores locally. Closest would have to be in Hong Kong.

Other options that you can use is buying using a proxy to buy off Uniqlo Japan's online store.

They're reproductions, not actual, vintage, pre-1971 big E. Not that old. Seem to be good repros, though.

Oh but they still look stiff which is good IMHO. So, what harder? Your A.P. Cs or those bige Es?(no homo)

DH,

Yes selvedge inside coin pocket. Jawns is copyrighted by all the peeps from Philly. :p

If anyone wants to order some uniqlo slvedge jeans its PHP4000 shipping included. But delivery time can take up to a month....

APCs are harder. But the denim on the Levi's has a really interesting slubby texture. Quite different from the last couple of 501s I've owned. More like my childhood 80's Levi's.

Are you offering proxy services for Uniqlo?
