last year nagkainitan ang dalawang coach where jru won against dlsu...sabi nila, coach pumaren said to vanguardia...huwag kang masaya, di pa kayo champion...then sa labas, si mrs. vanguardia said to pumaren...konsehal ka pa naman but coach pumaren just walked away dahil di daw siya pumapatol sa babae so si mrs. pumaren nalang daw ang nakipagsalita kay mrs. vanguardia...

second story is ... franz: "kung mag-celebrate kayo, kala mo nag-champion." ariel: "oo, champion nga kayo, pero wala naman kayong trophy." it's just plain and simple asaran na may napikon...

so whatever the story is...sobrang ok ang match up ng dalawang ito this sunday...exciting!!!

walang trophy dahil sinoli nila yung trophy nila nung nagchampion sila nung 2005 dahil sa ineligible player nila and at the same time na suspend sila for 1 year. sila mismo ang nagsauli.

La salle should win by a mile. A mere "hopia factory" is no match against a big spending college basketball program.

Yes. As a matter of fact, I saw no animosity between the two.

Jose Rizal went blank in the 2nd half and La Salle capitalized on the turnovers commited by the Heavy Bombers.

With that game I saw the weakness of the team.

I just like to commend Hayes for his performance yesterday, masipag talaga siya sa laro. Congrats to DLSU.

Maybe because of the practiced and playing schedules of our PBL players.

The team need a good point guard na back up ni Cagoco. Bulangis did not step up yesterday. Parang walang play ng 3rd quarter where La Salle went to a scoring run. Even our big men did not play well and it is only Hayes and Wilson have a decent performance yesterday.

Congrats to DLSU.

The only players who have been training with us since the end of last season is Hayes and Sena.

Only last week Hayes and Sena started training with teammates Montemayor and Nocom but they only trained on Monday. There is plenty of time for a pre-season phase of training before the season begins.

Unfortunately I don't know what is going on with the rest of the players so I can't give much insight. I know that much of this has to do with PBL obligations of several of the players so they have to go where their PBL coach tells them to train....just like a few of the LaSalle and Letran players trained with us during their Toyota stint this season.

One of the coaches said that the players are to resume training as a complete team again (hopefully soon) so we'll see what materializes over the next 2 months before the opening.

bchemist, do la salle players train under you? any chance?

We just had the three guys who played this season for Toyota but they were not required (strictly) to show up like JRU was (and did) before. The only guys who were consistant from the whole team were Hayes and Faundo. Sena was not as serious as these first two but he maintained most of his strength from last season.

The DLSU players rarely showed up and they didn't have any knowledge of Olympic lifting when we tested them. They also did not do squats (or know how to do squats) before in their training. Contrast this to Hayes who can full squat 315lbs and hang clean 225lbs at a bodyweight of 185lbs. He attained this in 3 months last year.

We have had several players from DLSU express interest in training with me over the past 2 years, especially since several of my staff or members know the players since we are so close to the school. But there are several reasons that this didn't materialize...in short the players have to train where they are told to train.

May "SBC" na naman? Hahahahha! Isasalpak pa talaga eh. Hahahaha!

SBC is the SCHOOL now. Palibhasa natalo na nga namin kayo sa bar exams, San Beda being the school with the highest passing rate in the country, pati din sa basketball. Kung baga, academics man o sa athletics, San Beda rules over your school. No wonder you are tired of hearing our name, SBC... hehehe.

sir, with all due respect, hindi ba wala pang 110 ata ang nag take ng bar from san beda? so mas malaki po talaga ang chance ng san beda na makakuha ng mas malaking passing rate, due to the lower number of bar takers.

and yeah, can we now say that SBC rules over UP academically kasi mas mataas ang passing rate nyo this bar?

There is a way to compare percentage of passing of schools regardless of the number of takers.

I don't think there is a way to compare UP and SBC fully, but regarding Law programs, SBC and Ateneo are the top two Law schools in the Philippines based on their performance in the Bar exams for these past few years, and UP is always third.

yeah, sadly UP is behind. pero in fairness, unlike ateneo and SBC who have bar reviewer courses included in the curriculum (kasi UP wala pagkakaalam ko eh), they are doing quite well considering this fact.

pagdating talaga sa passing rate, ateneo and SBC usually ang nasa taas.

Honestly I don't know how he trained the players. During our game last Sunday some of the players are doing it on their own. I noticed Cagoco attempted numerous 3 points shot in the pro area that didn't went in. Sena and Pradas was not in their usual in fact they are forcing their shot throughout the game. Nocom on the other hand cannot find his game going. It seems their obligation to their PBL teams also affected their game. It's not an excuse... They need to shape up especially the bench.

Sana man lang, bago tayo magsulat ng kahit ano, basahin natin ang "Elements of posts we'd like to forget/ignore/lock in a dark room" sa tabi ng Quick Reply field.

Totoo, in fact last Saturday JRU lost to UE by 6 points in the Nike Summer League. Minus Wilson, Pradas and Nocom the Heavy Bombers fell short on their target. Later in the afternoon Sena and Hayes seen action for Toyota. I know that playing in the PBL could boost their individual talent. There are also cases that playing too much basketball games can cause overfatigue.

I am worried baka by the time dumating na ang NCAA season eh burned out na sila. In fairness to La Salle their rookies played superb last Sunday.
