one thing going for the HEAVY BOMBERS is their UNIVERSITY status.
compared to SAN BEDA, SAN SEBASTIAN, LETRAN AND MAPUA iba pa rin pag UNIVERSITY ka. you can ask your school officials about this.
good luck to all NCAA schools!!!

I beg to disagree, JRU has more game compared to the previous year and their university status is irrelevant to what keeps them going. So if we follow jmmdg's argument, PCU has something going for them too because of their university status, so why were they suspended in the first place? And what about UPHDS? At least they are the cheerleading champions but their university status is nothing. :D
One thing going for JRU is their sports program, to improve the Bombers. Hopefully they will win more games again and try to take a crack at the basketball crown. ;)

the issue here is not about university status since it is proven time and again that colleges can produce the same results on a smaller scale. And don't get me wrong, I'm not degrading JRU as an institution and I disagree with the author of this thread that their university status is the only thing going for them when we all know that JRU has more to offer. :D

I agree with you. It could trigger another bashing in the forum. To my fellow Rizalians, be responsible for what you are posting. Pero kung papatulan ko ang post mo Perpetual have their own hospital, sa atin wala pa. Schools in the NCAA have their own specialty... even in our end. It's better to keep it on ourselves na lang rather showing off.
If we will compare our athletics program to the others that's a different story and proud to say that we somehow started to be more competitve to others.

Just like we have our hotel-school(AKIC) and the new 3 billion peso(allegedly) SDA Building in Vito Cruz. It doesnt take a college to be a University to have such facilities, and the quality of education is reknowed.

Kung athletics naman, hindi rin kami huli. Remember, Over-all champion ang Benilde? Basketball lang lagging behind. The rest of the sports, lahat may medal. Mababa na kung 3rd place.

Some people need lives. I barely have time to check on the forums lately but this is what I find. What is wrong with some of you people? That goes for EVERYONE involved in this nonsense :grrr:
Once the season starts, then people can talk their trash. Until then, you students need to be worrying about your grades/finals. You alumni should be helping them study or even tutor them.

Try shouting Beda balut in a game! Bedans will be more proud if you that! fyi si mang roger the San Beda balut vendor is always seated near the ringside! And if shout Beda balut you'll help the old fellow promote his balut business and San Beda will become more popular and your school will still be the same.

Previously, one of their building used to be a Hopia factory. When I was in grade school, and he was with me watching NCAA games, I would ask him about that chant whenever JRC (JRU) was playing. That was his explanation. :) And whenever they have their get together with fellow alumni, yun din ang explanation nila. Really not sure if its true. :D

I don't think so. The policy is being practiced in the UAAP and its fair to have one import at a time. What if San Beda don't have a caliber player like Ekwe while the others have it? Ganyan pa rin ang stand mo?
The MANCOMM should be questioned here in the first place and besides this is water under the bridge. Rules should be set fair and square. Even in the PBA before you can field top caliber import pero hindi pwedeng sabay. If the majority of MANCOMM decides na "one import at a time" then it should be respected. It only happens that JRU is very vocal about this but I know other school officials also have the same sentiments.

Yung naghahamon at magse-seryoso sa pex, only computer nerds do that.
Bakit, di mo ako kaya mag-isa? :naughty:
Now I know your real identity. Letran is totally out of this topic, and yet laki ng galit mo sa JRU.

Ho ho ho ho:lol: :rotflmao:

Always pretending to be this, and pretending to be that!haha!

We are not social climbers..

If ever totoo yun na may ipe-phase out na course sa Beda it doesn't mean na bulok yun course baka konti lang yung student and they rather use the facilities sa mas may marami makikinabang. bata, only 3 schools matter here sa pinas. ATENEO, DLSU and UP (where i graduated from college). sorry ka na lang kung hindi ka nakapagaral sa mga schools na ito. at dahil dito lahat ng schools other than the above 3 ay pantay pantay lang sa kalidad ng edukasyon at estudyante. kaya mga taga BEDA huwag kayo masyadong magyabang dahi ka level niyo lang ang JRU, Baste, UE, FEU, UST, NU, PUP, etc.

Who needs the University Status if you offer education at par or even surpasses that of what universities offer? May maniniwala ba sayo pag sinabi mong mas magagaling estudyante ng JRU kesa Benilde? Or UE kesa Benilde? Sama mo pa FEU, PCU, NU at kung ano ano pa. Come on. We are poised to be the only COLLEGE(SHRIM) to get a Level III accreditation from PAASCU soon. In fact the only other two UNIVERSITIES to ever get accredited with such are ADMU and DLSU. Bomber Boy - I presume you are aware of the PEX User Agreement with regards to flaming pexers. The moderator would be alerted with your actions here in this forum. You have been warned. Madame Ada wouldn't want a UP grad raising hell in here since the administrator is a UP grad herself. ;)
And with regards to the topic, again you don't have to take offense with regards to the university status for JRU when we know that your basketball team is a force to reckon with. It's not just the university status that is going for JRU. The author maliciously started this thread to mock your basketball team, not your academic standards. As a UP graduate, I would've expected you to see this point clearly but I guess you have to digress to insulting everyone in this forum. My wife who is a UP graduate would laugh at your posts here if she had the time to check this thread. :D
And you don't have to compare and insult colleges with your beloved university since we all differ in producing graduates that are in-demand abroad.
Let me give you a comparison, UPHDS nursing grads are in demand, so are the products of Fatima College and let me stress that point clearly, Fatima College, and the other nursing colleges can attest to the number of nurses, PT, caregivers, and any other related course that they churn every year.
Now, what's with putting sarcasm with cake-decorating? And no, its not the only achievement that's going for us. Now I am starting to believe that you are trolling. I suggest you pick your battles before you end up getting banned.

That's right. Commitments. Much more than mere promises.
1. An education with a seal of quality rarely found elsewhere.
"You (the students) are the battlefield on which future wars will be won or lost...you cannot remain neutral...you will have to take a stand. But keep in mind the principles you have imbibed in the university; keep your faith, and your faith will keep you!."
- President Ramon Magsaysay, BCS '33
· Jose Rizal University is in the coveted Philippine Government (CHED) List of Autonomous and Deregulated colleges and universities of the land, an honor given to only 4% of the nation's 1,282 colleges and universities. This is currently among, if not the highest seal of quality given to universities in the Philippines.
· Key to this honor is Level III (LACOMED) accreditation. Very few institutions have this seal of excellence and distinction. We have it.
· JRU Elementary School is one of the few elementary schools with Level I accreditation in the National Capital Region, a rare distinction.
· JRU High School Division is one of the few secondary schools with Level I accreditation in the National Capital Region, a rare distinction considering that there are 6,598 high schools in the land, 20% of which are concentrated in NCR. (Nationwide, the distribution is 60% public and 40% private.)
· Our elementary school and high school curricula emphasize English, Math and Values as core areas of learning. Our classroom hours (a key indicator of learning) are higher than that of BEC and most other private schools.
· Founded in 1919 by the First Filipino certified public accountant, Jose Rizal University has the singular distinction of having the oldest business education program in the Philippines, which translates to unparalleled experience and competence in curriculum development and business education.
· Among its long list of successful alumni are a President of the Philippines, a justice of the Supreme Court, several members of the Cabinet an Legislature, heads of banks and financial institutions, and leaders of educational institutions, and leaders of educational institutions, captains of industry, commerce, agriculture and trade.
Mabuhay Rizal!!!!

Thanks... I would like to apologize for the mess created by one of our own. Still, there are people coming from Jose Rizal that are humble and really value the good education they have gained as a part of their student life in school.
To Bomber Boy, as I've said it before I admire your loyalty. However, this is not the proper place or thread for the arguments between you and other members of the school. Besides it's better to keep it low and silent rather than showing off. Dude, that pang asar was being used even during the time of my father at JRC and we just laughed it off na lang. Hindi naman nabawasan ang pagkatao namin... maasar ka nga lang, there's a saying di ba na ang asar talo? It seems ikaw ang naasar dito. I also used to react negatively whenever I hear that chant during the games (student days) at RMC or Loyola gym... pero hanggang doon lang. Meron din away during or after the game, pero what the heck! Hindi lang naman JRU ang napa-pa rumble then almost all of the members school. Maging matured lang tayo, kahit students pa kayo (i.e. high school, college, etc.) and I'm sure na informative at better exchange of ideas ang mga thread dito.
Always remember that your post will only show your character and paano ka pinalaki ng family mo. Sometimes the school will also dragged into this at huwag na natin palalain ang situation.
Peace...*okay*

That's right. Commitments. Much more than mere promises.
Among its long list of successful alumni are a President of the Philippines, a justice of the Supreme Court, several members of the Cabinet an Legislature, heads of banks and financial institutions, and leaders of educational institutions, and leaders of educational institutions, captains of industry, commerce, agriculture and trade.
Mabuhay Rizal!!!!

Excuse me...I apologize for the mess you made out of JRU. I don't need you para mapansin and besides I don't need attention just like what you are doing. How about you? Did you do any good about JRU that a fellow Rizalian can be proud of?
Grandstanders? Did you asked yourself about that? Everytime you are cornered sasabihin mong taga UP ka. I finished my primary & secondary course at JRU and yet I did not bring up where I finished my college. I am not a scholar like you but I know how to show some respect and manners to others. If all students of JRU will come out just like you then I will pull out my kids right away and find other school. Para kang grade school kung makaasta.
You missed the point, you dragged the school into your personal tirade againts other schools. I will never ever tolerate that thing! Can't you see the clear picture? I know that there are few Rizalians here in the forum. Actually, meron pang iba and I will not post their names in the thread.
I hope you have a wonderful time posting somewhere else and that's a welcome news.

Actually marami din kaming notable alumni's at baka magalit ang thread starter nito. JRU were able to contribute in almost all field like government sector, entertainment, sports, public service, private companies and others.
Even sa mga corrupt people in the gov't sad to say na meron din kaming alumni na nasangkot. During our alumni homecoming nagpasabing aatend siya. A lot of JRU alumni's are not proud sa ginawa niya.

I don't know if Rene Canent and Andy Poe had their elementary at JRC. What I know Rene Canent was a player from Light to Heavy Bombers. As for Andy Poe he suited up as a Light Bomber during the 1962-63 NCAA season together with Coach Boy De Vera.

Philip Cezar and Jimmy Santos was way ahead of Manny Victorino. Philip and Jimmy are members of the 1972 Heavy Bombers team that captured the crown in the seniors division.
Victorino on the other hand was a member of the 1977 Light Bombers team that also captured the title in the NCAA juniors division.
What these players have in common? They belong to the team that last won a title for JRU in the juniors and seniors division.

Very interesting list of notables.
Armand Fabella was an excellent administrator from the marcos years.
He was chair of the Commission on Reorganization before he was appointed as Secretary of Education. He resigned when CHED was formed and taken away from the then Dep Ed.
Does he still watch the games? Last time I saw him was at Rizal Memorial in a semi-final match against SSC. JRC had the two-handed shooter Marco Fajardo at that time. They lost by one shot via a non-call during a last drive by Winsjohn Teh (tama ba name?)
Justice Gregory Ong graduated from San Beda College of Law. Baka wala pang college of law noon sa JRC.
Razon and Abalos. no comment na lang.

Mr. Armand Fabella watches the NCAA opening and important games of JRU. Kahit hirap na maglakad due to old age he still show support to the players.
Yes it was a non-call as Wynsjohn Te drove towards the basket. If the referee called a foul then I think it will change the complex of the ballgame and we might even played in the finals. Actually, after the game I went to confront the referee. Imagined a player fell in front of a referee na una ang ulo hindi man lang pumito. Until now whenever he saw me during PBA games siya na ang umiiwas. He's one of the new batch of referee in the PBA.
About Razon and Abalos, I have to reserve my comment on them.

very impressive pala ang listahan ng jru...mapa gobyerno down to former MICAA and PBA stars.*okay*
Will it be this year? Its about time, dont you think! Good luck nlang sa Season 84.
arriba!
I just hope we could bring in the bacon this year. Still, a lot of teams shows some improvement from last year. For me San Beda is still a team to beat, theres also Mapua, Letran and San Sebastian.
CSB on the other hand have a new coach and based from what I've heard medyo maganda ang chemistry and outlook ng Blazers this year.

You forgot my classmate Johnedel Cardel who played for the Light Bombers from 86-87; 87-88 NCAA season and 4 time PBA MVP Ramon Fernandez. Fernandez actually a transferee from La Salle took his Commerce degree alongside playing in his basketball team and managing his business. I remember him saying during the 1995 election campaign that it's good that he finished his degree because he will need it on his (failed) bid to the Senate.

That has never been proven. Actually, if you will pass by along R. Hidalgo St. you will still see the old building of JRU. It is located fronting Holy Face of Jesus beside Quiapo Catholic School ata and near San Sebastian Church.

I guess hindi sila puwede. Both of them are part of the PBA Legends tour. I don't know if Philip still handles PSBA varsity team. Vergel is also part of the assistant coaches of Burger King in the PBL.
Philip was part of the shortlisted candidates to replace Coach Cris Calilan whe he left the team two years ago. JRU actually really wanted to get the services of Joel Banal. Coach Banal didn't declined the offer but instead recommend himself as a consultant to Coach Ariel Vanguardia. Until Alaska tapped him as an assistant Coach to Tim Cone.
I even saw him in the Bombers dugout during the games together also with Manny Victorino. He was a great motivator. Even the team is losing in the early games of 2006 NCAA season.

Let us talk about alumni.
I respect JRU's alumni, but let us just get the facts straight.
President Ramon Magsaysay.
During his term when the country had a problem with rising prices he suggested the abolition of "the law of demand and supply". He more than compensated with his inadequacies in economics by being a man for the masses.
Ralph Recto.
was he the one who sold out to the Marcoses?
Roderick Paulate
Is he really gay?
Now, we can say that no school has a monopoly of homosexuals.
Finally, my most respected JRU alum Vergel Meneses.
Give Vergel a chance to coach the JRU and I think in time he will deliver you to the promise land.

On Ramon Magsaysay.
I think you had a point there. His strong personality to the mases makes him a good president (based on history books). He can influenced everybody to help him in his program for the people.
Roderick Paulate.
No he's not. He's been a student of my aunt at JRU (JRC then). An above average student and simpleng tao lang sa campus. Up to now Roderick even asked them (former teachers) for a night out and even booked them in a hotel. Diyan siya sumikat nang husto kaya until now all of his role are mostly gay.
Ralph Recto.
Ralph or Raffy? If it is Raffy I don't know what's between him and the Marcoses. All I know is that he is a strong Marcos Loyalist. He ran twice under KBL (party of Marcos) during the post EDSA revolt. Unfortunately, he did not won a seat in the Senate.
Vergel Meneses.
The door is always open for Vergel. So far there was no formal application coming from him for the job. Maybe he could sit as an assistant coach first to Boy De Vera for the Light Bombers squad and work his way up to the Heavy Bombers team.

Actually its Rafael who is a JRU alum, right? The fruit has fallen so far from the tree. The father Don Claro is a respected nationalist but this guy was a staunch defender of the Marcoses (and that is not really something to be proud of).

I can't answer it directly. Given a benefit of a doubt, I think the late President intention was to ease the burden of the people. I don't know how his advisers deals with it.
As for me it can't be done. Big families from huge corporations will benefit all the profits. A President need a politcal will to serve the people and a bunch of advisers that have no bested interest on their position.

I think he won during the 1984 Batasang Pambansa elections. He ran and won under the opposition party UNIDO (MP Batangas). He resurface as a hardcore Marcos Loyalist after the first couple left Malacanang palace and went exile in Hawaii.
He tried twice to have a seat in the public office but failed.

Basketball Trivia:
In the Far Eastern Games in 1923, JRU Alumni Luis “Lou” Salvador Sr. scored the Philippines’ and the Far Eastern Games all-time record for the most points scored by a player in a single game. He scored 116 points to lead the Philippines beat China and recapture the gold medal.
Far Eastern Games is the precursor of Asian Games.
Mabuhay Rizal!!!
Note: Lou Salvador Sr. is the grandfather of Actress Maja Salvador and Father of Philip Salvador. Became an Actor after his retirement from the basketball.
