Amazing how they handled the very crucial and intense fifth set. Despite the momentum on FEU's side and the boos from the opposing crowd, it's the BIG BIG HEART of a CAMPIONE that led them to victory. Hindi sila nagpaangas at nagpasindak sa iba, they carried the situation and themselves very well.

Quoting voltaire_madder from ust.net.ph

"Then the all deciding 5th set. After that very much heated and controversial 4th set, FEU definitely had the momentum coming into the homestretch. But I saw the UST players not letting the moment get into them. They willed themselves to jump around and perk themselves up. The YJ started drumming and the Golden Growling Gallery cheered on. Then the players started to cheer too. At the start of the set, cheering was very intense. Then UST started to go for the kill... After the 1st TO (the only one for it is only race to 15 at this point), the UST players kicked their chests towards the UST Growling Golden Gallery as a gesture of a fighting heart and there was no turning back."

That's something unknown to people who didn't watch the game live. Para sa ibang Thomasians na hindi nakapanood, sana nakita ninyo kung gaano kalaki ang PUSO at GRACE na pinakita ng players natin, you'll be so so proud.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/janecx/Sports/hug.jpg

Nakakatuwa rin na may mga supporters ng UST WVT (non-Thomasians even) na pumunta at nag-cheer sa men's team natin. Naie-extend na rin ang support nila pati sa MVT which is heartwarming. Kudos sa lahat ng mga naniwala!

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/janecx/Sports/start.jpg

The team is very young and there's a lot more ahead of them. I hope with their victory makita rin ng tao na they deserve recognition and support as much as what our WVT has been receiving. At sana mas lalong ma-appreciate ng Thomasians ang men's volleyball. Hope this will be a good start.

ONE FOR UST!
CAMPIONE FOREVER!

Hay... salamat at na-up na rin 'tong thread na 'to. THANKS ADA! :)

---
I think it's about time that a thread is dedicated solely to UST MVT since a lot of people are starting to notice and appreciate them now. They just don't remain as shadows now to the ever popular UST WVT, they're making names for themselves: Pecaņa, Roque, Balse, Torres, Ramos, Ucang, Ilano, Reyes, Dimaculangan, Artajos, Say.

---
By the way, Tiger Pack has a video tribute (it includes post-game celebration, UST's last point, and there's a little of men's and women's tennis as well) which will be shown this Saturday . After that, we'll upload it to YouTube for everyone to see. We'll post the link here soon. :)

True, the men rightfully deserve the attention that's being heaped on the women.

I was there to watch and enjoy this match. I saw how the boys managed to keep their composure and class intact.

Imbued with God's unending grace, never did the boys give the FEU supporters a mean stare or even a dirty finger as what FEU's Magnaye did. They weren't just skillful volleyball players, they were, more importantly, gentlemen.

A talented and class act through and through.

Congrats again to the UST Men's Volleyball Team! *okay*

I like very much the posts here, most especially the quoted one from voltaire_madder.

It brought back the feelings I felt before, during and after the game.
What made it more memorable for me to see WVT players and former players crying with joy, not to mention the countless "mirons" who were there as well, shedding tears of joy and hugging their seatmates. It was really a special moment.

Thank God I'm A Thomasian.

As the cliche goes, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

The victory goes to UST players graduating from their stint at the UAAP, namely Glenn Artajos and Jerome Say.

The defeat goes to former champions Edjet Mabbayad and FEU Tamaraws Team Captain Jesse Lopez, both graduating from the UAAP themselves.

It's past. People have moved on.

But there's another lesson to be learned: it ain't over 'til it's over and never underestimate the heart of a fighter.

If faith can move mountains, the heart can render giants to fall.

And fall they did.

Parang UAAP... makulay... madrama...

---
Proud ako sa feat ng MVT natin. Walang dehadehado, laban kung laban. Magaling kung magaling. We usually hear these lines kasi: "bata pa kasi ang team namin", "for a very young team, maganda na 'yung nilaro nila", "sobrang lakas kasi ng kalaban, expected na 'yun", "nasa rebuilding stage pa rin kasi kami", etc. That irks me. I mean, kung ganyan parati ang mindset, abay it's just a matter of cycle na lang (gaya ng sabi ko dati patungkol sa mga basketball team) which should not be the case. LABAN!

Once you're there, dapat wala ng urungan. Always show your damn best. PUSO. And I am glad that's what UST MVT just did. Same goes with our men's tennis team. Panay rookie at sophomore ang sumabak last year at na-sweep pa nila ang competition. And this year, SWEEP ULIT! :)

Again, another "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE" moment for UST.

CAMPIONE! :)

:D

when i first saw the players of the UAAP MVT during the playoffs, everyone seems a stranger
to me. to most of us, we haven't heard or seen them before. after the championship round,
we got to know the character behind these personalities.

so i'm posting (and will be posting some more) pics of them again here so that we may get
to know them a little better.

i'm one with haseq in giving the ust men's squad just a 30% chance of beating feu twice in
the finals, given their opponent's level of play and how they whipped the espana boys during
the playoffs. but they showed true grit during the championship round even how young
most players are. this is one time i'm glad to be proven wrong. :p

Halos lahat nag-step up.

Matulis! I thik the word "matinik" best describes him. Aside from the fact that he has an excellent view of the court with his towering height, his imposing figure causes intimidation and confusion to his opponents, making him all the more unpredictable.

saya nga rin nung brownout. everyone took out their celfones and turned on their displays. then the cheering
squads tried to outcheer each other in the middle of all that darkness.

the only bad thing is that it took place in the middle of a rally and a spike from one of the ust attackers. good
thing is i think it might have been an out judging from the angle of the ball. but it could have gone either way.

Okay. Now it can be told. The Tiger Pack, a UST alumni support group to Thomasian student-athletes, had an asalto for the UST Tiger Spikers, newly crowned champions of the Men's Volleyball Tournament at the UAAP Season 70, and third placer UST Women's Volleyball Team, today at the UST Gym Annex.

The men's team showed up 100% while there were a few absentees among the ladies, notably Denise Patricia Tan, who at the moment, is still being diagnosed at the UST Hospital for possible dengue or typhoid fever.

There were more or less 20 members of the Tiger Pack who came, and a few non-Thomasians, notably the number 1 fan of Venus Bernal, and a friend who often cheers with us, although he's not from UST.

(Pictures of the event might be posted here at this thread anytime soon.)

The objective of the asalto is three-fold:

For the players of both men's and women's teams to have a reunion of sorts between themselves, and with their fans, including Bernal's fans.

For the Tiger Pack to show firsthand their appreciation of both teams by giving them something (more like many things) to eat, and something to remember the event by.

For them to know us a little bit better since they are already familiar with our faces and for some of us, our names.

The program's highlights included:

the showing of an appreciation audio-visual presentation (AVP) for the MVT, aptly entitled "Amazing", and the showing of the AVP created by the fans of the WVT from Davao;

paying of tribute to UST-WVT stalwarts Ging Balse and Venus Bernal -- and Joey Torrijos who couldn't make it to the event -- who saw their last playing year at the UAAP this season; "roasting" of the two MVT graduating players at the UAAP, namely Jerome Say and Glenn Artajos who is already married, according to Coach Emil Lontok.

eating, more eating, and more eating (the boys really have their appetites cut out for them -- read: they really eat very well. )

awarding of tokens and token certificates

photo ops, and more photo ops.

Some sidelights:

Angelie Tabaquero apologized to us for their failure to defend the championships. She said that "things happened that way, despite their effort and perseverance."

Ging and Vhen couldn't hold back their tears -- both were just overwhelmed by the attention given to them by the Tiger Pack, and the public in general. Vhen was paid tribute to by a fan from TUP who helped design a website just for her. The fan said "his life changed because of the example showed by Vhen when playing on the court." Ging, on the other hand, heard the tribute given to her from the emcee -- the text of the tribute was from a fan and a friend who couldn't bear the thought of crying it out with Ging -- so she just gave her piece for the emcee to read.

The MVT have their nicknames for each other. While each one was being called by the emcee for him to receive his token and certificate of appreciation, the guys at the back were yelling his specific nickname that goes, for example, "Gorilla," "Butiki," or "Paniki," and the like. Interestingly, they have a special for Jan Torres, except that I can't remember it now.

During the "reply" portion, Mark Dalit responded on behalf of his team, and said that their victory would not have been possible without the Tiger Pack's "heartful" cheering, despite the fact that "our cheering section was outnumbered by FEU." Rookie of the Year Jason Ramos almost broke down in tears and professed that he was overwhelmed by the support the Tiger Pack bestowed on him, despite the fact that he's still on his first year at the university and the UAAP.

Coach Emil had a mouthful to say about his two graduating wards. (No, I cannot print the "sermon" here, but its gist has something to do with both boys being "pasaways" at one point during their playing years.) Then Coach Emil had a surprising revelation. "In 25 years of my coaching the UST-MVT, this is the first time that a group had actually prepared a celebration for us," he said.

Our group was very happy with the result of our preparations, in spite of the snags and frustrations we encountered along the way. I, personally, am very happy because I felt we were able to achieve our objective of raising the morale of both teams, especially the women's side. I thought we made our point: regardless what happens to our teams, we'll be there for them; if they need anything from us, we're just here for them, no matter what.

Going home, I texted a player of our MVT and personally said thank you to him and his team for showing up to the event. He replied, "kami po 'yung dapat magpasalamat. Pauwi na po ako ng Laguna. Salamat po ulit."

Some readers probably won't understand where our dedication to our players is coming from. This much I can say: "They're not just our players. They are our younger brothers and sisters that we have pledged to support, and protect if need be, despite the odds."

I'm a Thomasian and I'm proud to be one. ;)

from the very short period i've come to know the players, both MVT and (especially) the WVT... and the fans of both squads, i can totally understand. especially that i'm a thomasian, too. *okay*

i have gotten a glimpse of the preparation on ust.net i think, or was it ustexchange(?), but then totally forgot about it coz of work. so i didn't have a clue it would finally push through. i'm not sure if it's for select guests only, but for sure there are many more than willing to support this valiant gesture.

Win some, lose some. So they say.

I may not be a big fan of the UST-Volleyball teams (as you might see) but i surely can't help but commend the matches they dished out with their foes and for their fans. Congratulations for getting the Crown UST-MVT!. The defense that you showed FEU's MVT on the 3rd Game was extremely tight and was a feat to watch together with the attacks your roster gave.

Hopefully more people have been exposed to Men's Volleyball this year and it will have more air time in the same vein as it's counterpart, Women's Volleyball and would prompt Studio 23 to cut some of their BLAH shows since this tourney only happens once a year.

With all these, i hope to see the UST VT's again the next season together with all the other teams and be served matches that are jampacked with Volleyball goodness.

Peace to all. Peace be all.

i was watching the replay of game 2 of the men's vball final kanina, and i'm really beginning to like the level of play there better than in the distaff side. quality vball talaga. fast action, intelligent plays. these are tailor made for afficionados such as you who can appreciate the finer points of the game.

thing is, we really haven't seen any game outside of the playoffs and the championship matches. baka din naman boring yung ibang game, but we're not to know kasi nga di naman na-televised. so sana nga, kung di man full coverage, mas maaga sana ma-pickup ng studio 23 ang men's games.

congrats to all the teams this season 70. you all contributed to making it as popular as it is now.

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for those who planned for and organized the event of 15th of March, 2008!

Thanks to everyone who contributed money, resources, time and effort to make the event successful:

To the University Administration for lending us the sound system, the LCD projector, and other technical requirements that we need; and especially for providing us with the venue for free;

To those who prepared and brought the food (special mention are the banana muffins and the deliciously prepared lasagna);

To those who decorated the place; the emcees; those who serenaded the players; those who served as official photographers;

To the person who prepared the audio-visual presentation entitled "Amazing", making the MVT members shout -- more like cringe -- after seeing their faces on the screen, and especially how they looked like when they cry;

To the member who designed the tokens and laid out the certificates;

To the alumni support group that produced that glorious tarpaulin of the MVT;

To our dear coaches -- thank you for letting your guard down for a moment, and spent the afternoon with all of us (Coach August, get well soon!)

And most especially to our dear Tiger Spikers and Lady Tigresses -- this event would not have been possible without your presence. You're still the man! ;) )

Last but not the least, thank you dear Tiger Pack for always being there for our players. We may not outnumber as yet the other alumni cheering squad of other UAAP schools. But we're slowly getting there. Some of us may not yet realize this. But we're really pushing our players to play their best. As one of our MVT players said, "we couldn't quite know how to say this but we sincerely appreciate the fact that we're appreciated." *okay*

Now that UAAP Season 70 is officially over, thank you our dear players for the memories.

We'll see you at the venue anytime soon.

And we promise to cheer.

And cheer some more.

ONE FOR UST!!!

Magha-half day ako bukas just to watch Game 3 in its entirety. Sayang because I don't think it's Sev Sarmenta who annotated for Game 3. Instead, it's this guy who introduced UST as "University of the...Santo Tomas!"

Si Sev Sarmenta ang commentator along with Ian Laurel. Barker lang 'yung nagsabi ng "University of... the Santo Tomas". Nakalimutan din niyang tawagin 'yung pangalan ni John Paul Torres, pareho silang mali nung camera man or nung camera director.

I like Sev Sarmenta. Kahit Atenista sha, he isn't biased unlike Joaqui Trillo. I remember when Joaqui used to annotate, every word that came out of his mouth just reeked of sheer bias in favor of DLSU. Blech!

Going back to Sev, I especially loved it when he mentioned that UST has a "macro" outlook in sports and that UST doesn't just concentrate on basketball.

Great job Sev! *okay*

my favorites in the team:

jayson ramos- very young and exuberant. his defense at the back is very dependable. this is a big guy who dives for the ball--something that the tall tigresses should learn to do. more than 50% of the time, the tigers go to him for their first attack kaya minsan medyo basa na.

henry james pecana- sobrang galing pumalo. and i love his reaction whenever he scores walang yabang, pumapalakpak lang na parang bata. medyo error-prone pa nga lang siya dahil minsan nanggigigil eh.

honorable mention- harby ilano and reykarl dimaculangan- both silent killers.

congratulations ulit sa tiger spikers. can't wait to see the replay of game 3 later.

Nakaka-disappoint talaga.

Here's the number to call: 9244101. Let's demand for another replay. :)

By the way, ang tagal nung screen-wide shot ng CAMPIONE banner, that's like 35 seconds. :D Sabay pa sa pagkakasabi ni Sev ng "but you know what, don't deny the heart of a champion".

And UST has won the men's volleyball title!!!"

Ging and Vhen couldn't hold back their tears -- both were just overwhelmed by the attention given to them by the Tiger Pack, and the public in general. Vhen was paid tribute to by a fan from TUP who helped design a website just for her. The fan said "his life changed because of the example showed by Vhen when playing on the court." Ging, on the other hand, heard the tribute given to her from the emcee -- the text of the tribute was from a fan and a friend who couldn't bear the thought of crying it out with Ging -- so she just gave her piece for the emcee to read.

mayron ba kayong vid nung tribute kay ging and vhen? and dun na rin sa buong event? gusto q sanang makita. thanks!

^ Yeap, I agree. Their black-white uniform this year is so refreshing. And in a way, makes you think of Salinggawi as well lalo na kung tumtalikod sila in a sequence o sabay-sabay. Nakakatuwa.

If I am not mistaken, nag-black na rin ang women's team natin last year. Nga lang, mas nangibabaw ang black. Lines and letters lang 'yung yellow and white. Cool pa rin tingnan, it gave them the "killer/terminator" look. *okay*

Sayang nga pala at the recent Nestea Beach Volley, natalo ang UST team of Jason Ramos and Harbie Ilano.

Results: CSB def. UST 13-21, 21-8, 15-9
SFAC def. UST 21-11, 20-22, 15-12

'Pag two losses, out na ng tournament. Sayang kasi sa second match nila, puro service errors, tas 'di pa mashadong consistent si Ilano. Ramos was really gutting it out though and he really wanted to win.

Hopefully next year, sumali ulit ang UST. Maganda kung Torres-Balse, Torres-Pecaņa or Torres-Ramos combo. Inaugural champion pa naman ang UST (1997 men's champion) then sa women's twice na nag-champion ang UST (1998 and 1999).

OFF-TOPIC:

The coach of the Philippine Men's National Volleyball Team is Arthur Odjie Mamon, erstwhile Tiger Spiker (champion in the UAAP 1992-1993 Season) and former national player. Assistant coach is George Pascua, former FEU Tamaraw and likewise, a former national player.

Mr. Mamon mentioned that they have already submitted to the Philippine Volleyball Federation the line-up of the national team. But the line-up has yet to be approved.

The more prominent names he mentioned as "potential" national team members are the following:

Edjet Mabbayad
Jesse Lopez
John Paul Torres
Jefferson Magnaye (yes! that not-so-nice guy from FEU)

He mentioned another name -- an 18-year old guy from another school who stands 6' 3". Unfortunately, I can't remember the name as of the moment.

The PVF has not released the allowances of the players since January so the team just practices two times a week (since February at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.) Asked what their next itinerary is, Coach Mamon just said "next question please." Apparently, the itinerary has also been submitted to the PVF for consideration. But until now, politics continues to affect the already sorry state of volleyball in this country.

Lesson of the day: rivalry in the UAAP ends when the need to represent the country begins (this is from pablohoney36). But the problem is: good intentions do little to further volleyball cause in this country. It would matter if like-minded and really cause-oriented people unite to salvage whatever is left to be salvaged of this sport.

Just reminding everyone that the last time we salvaged a bronze medal at the SEA Games was way back in 1991 when it was held in Manila.

That was a long, long time ago.

(A bronze medal finish in next year's SEA Games would be a very good step in the right direction. Next stop: the 2010 Asian Games!)

For those who are interested to do volunteer work for the Philippine Men's National Volleyball Team, please send me a PM. I'll be meeting with Coach Mamon as soon as he comes back from Puerto Princesa for the Palarong Pambansa (where he and Asst. Coach Pascua will be doing major scouting for potential UAAP players and/or national team members.) If you think you have what it takes to help raise funds for this team and raise the level of awareness of the public about the team itself, please help.

They'll be needing all the help they can get. *okay*

haseq
Apr 24, 2008, 01:58 PM
I think it's more of who gets to be close to higher-ups (within and among the national sports associations.) Usapin kasi ito ng funding. Normally, kung sino ang mas pinapaboran, sila ang nagiging apple of the eye, so to speak.

Ang problem nga sa men's national volleyball team, wala pa sila ulit napapatunayan since that 3rd place finish at the '91 Manila SEA Games.

Pa'no na yan?

(Last year, nakipag-usap ako kay Coach Vip Isada kung anong mga pwedeng gawin para sa women's at men's national teams in terms of fund-raising.

Sa isang banda, I would like to see it as an opportunity for us to do something again. For one, the coach is Odjie Mamon. He's a great guy and he knows very well what's happening with the team. And he's from UST. Not for anything else, I trust him. We also have Assistant Coach George Pascua from FEU who's very dedicated with what he does. And the other assistant coach. I sincerely believe the team is in very good hands.

This team needs support from external sources.

If I don't get to do anything for these guys, I'd be more frustrated. I plan to form a core of supporters to map out a plan how to help out the men's national volleyball team.

The target is for the national team to play for next year's SEA Games, initially.

To those who'll be interested to help out in this huge undertaking, please send me a PM. I'll be waiting to read your replies. *okay*

Haven't posted in a while both here in PEx and ust.net.ph. My phone line got cut off two weeks ago.

Anyway, got this PM from Coach Odjie Mamon of the national team. He clarified some items re my posting about the RP Men's Volleyball Team. Here are the clarifications and corrections:

Jeff Magnaye of the FEU Tams is no longer with the national team (upon recommendation of Asst. Coach George Pascua). He was a member of the national team last year. Note that the line-up has been posted by Coach Odjie in another forum (which unfortunately I'm not a member of);

It is not the Philippine Volleyball Federation that has been stalling the approval of the line-up; rather the Philippine Sports Commission which has also delayed the release of the allowances of the players since January;

The name of the guy from AdU is Nino Jeruz;

And yes, the PVF will come out with five-year development plan for national volleyball.

As it is, the coaching staff is under tremendous pressure to prove to the PSC that the team as proposed has the potential of getting at least a bronze medal at next year's SEA Games. With this, all the support that the public can extend to the team will be highly appreciated.

ONE FOR THE PHILIPPINE MEN'S NATIONAL VOLLEYBALL TEAM! *okay*

2.5 blocks/set
1.21 ace/set
2.08 digs/set
10.6 excellent sets /set

the team is just full of talent. daming mahuhugot ng coaching staff sa kanila. sa sobrang talented ng team, madalas nasa sidelines lang si reno roque (last year's mvp) and robertly boto (middle blocker).

another amazing thing about the team is nag-eenjoy talaga sila sa laro nila.

ituluy-tuloy na natin 'to!

Good news UST fans. I just heard na bago na daw ang rule. If UST Men's Team sweeps the tournament, they will automatically be in the Finals. Stepladder rule na like basketball. :)

ji-o
Jan 22, 2009, 04:28 PM
@JC
sa Jan 27 na mafa-finalize yan ruling jan

Advantage ng stepladder: the team who swept the 2 rounds will only have to win once against the challenger (15-0)

Disadvantage: momentum breaker ang play-offs/stepladder

Wow sa birthday ko pa talaga mafifinalize. :) Anyway, Okay lang yun. Twice to beat naman eh! :) Matalo man sa isa, may chance ulit para maredeem. Although I think the team can still do that 15-0 sweep. Malaki tiwala ko sa UST MVT. Lalo na sa idol kong si Henry. :)

Jan 22, 2009, 07:28 PM

according to coach odjie in his most recent post in ust.net.ph, in case of a 14-game sweep, the semis will be a step-ladder format, #3 vs. #4 then the winner of this game will face the #2 team who has a twice-to-beat advantage, then the winner will face UST MVT in the FINALS for a Best-of-3 affair...

some naysayers are saying that the ust mvt may suffer from the same fate that the ue mbt suffered in season 70.

ridiculous.

1st. ue was challenged by strong teams in that season--dlsu, admu, and feu. while ust was in the final four, its losses against ue were landslides. in the case of ust, the only team that was "sort of"able to challenge the team's prowess was feu. adu was able to take a set in the first round. these teams are no longer in the f4.

2nd. volleyball is an entirely different sport than basketball. hindi points ang labanan, kungdi ang number of sets.

3rd. the coaching staff has shown all season long that it knows what it is doing with the boys. i trust coach emil and coach odgie that the boys will peak at the right time--the championship.

4th. the boys are teeming with talent. wala kang maitatapon na player eh. at confident ako na alam nila kung ano ang nasa linya.

And take note, sabi ni Coach, naka-iskeydyul na ang pag-peak ng UST MVT. palapit na ng palapit ang saturday hehehe! :D

it's highly unlikely that the UST MVT will have a meltdown in the finals in case of a sweep, siguro mangyayari lang yun if off ang laro ng lahat ng players ng team, parang impossible na mangyari na sabay sabay off ang laro nila JP, Henry, Harby, Jayson, Ting, and Karl (the usual starting 6), kung off man ang laro ng isa sa kanila, puedeng ipasok si Reno, Toh, and even Mark and Julius can deliver some points, and kung off man ang setting ni Karl andyan naman si Kerr to take over, ganun kalalim ang bench ng UST MVT

at tingin ko kung off man ang isang aspect ng game ng isang player ng UST MVT, kunwari kung off ang attacks, babawi yan sa iba like reception, blocking, and floor defense... remember in volleyball, puede maka-score from the opponent's errors unlike in basketball

*okay*

^ My request Robertly Boto starting 6 this saturday against Ateneo. UST bench is so deep kaya nga walang nag shishine sa kanila for individual honors because they play as a team always. Defense and offense are always deadly.

UST def. Ateneo (25-16, 25-16, 25-?)

They're a bunch of foul-mouthed individuals who think they have a right to everything in this world just because they're Ateneans.

I suppose that's the "Ateneo way."

Is that the best that you can do?!"

At shempre, ang mga palo ibang klase! Each shot is hit with such ferocity that I wondered if it left divots on court.

i beg to disagree that those bastos middle-aged women were all parents of ateneo students na kalapit kong nanood sa men's game kanina because they were still there during the afternoon games, maybe mga amuyong lang, one bastos woman even greeted benting who was watching na parang close sila. In fairness to Benting and the rest of the younger crowds from ust, la salle and ateneo ( may logo damit nila), they showed good breeding, no foul language heard from them. To ust mvt, all i can say is ANG GALING GALING NYO, hanep!

During the UEMBT sweep DLSU has the twice to beat advantage kasi sila ang number 2 nagkaron lang ng playoff against Ateneo for number 2 kasi tie sila after the elimination round.

I think the match between UP and DlSU later will decide kung sino ang number 2 then the loser will be number 3 or 4 dahil tie sila ng Ateneo. So wala ng playoff for number 2 kasi the loser later will either be number 3 or 4.

BTW thanks for letting Boto play yesterday grabe ang galing talaga ng blocking nya force to reckon with talaga sa net. Pero di mo naman sila masisisi dahil sobrang lakas ng UST MVT and I think di naman sila talaga nag effort yesterday which is a wise decision baka ma injured pa ang players nila and knowing Ateneo napaka hina talaga ng bench nila...

I find it weird and somewhat unfair that they don't have a fixed rule for the tournament. Shouldn't the rules be already set prior to the start of the tournament? Why is there a need to have it changed, particularly when the tournament is in its winding down stages?

For sweeping the elims, UST MVT should at least have received an automatic pass into the finals.

May naka sweep na ba ng men's volleyball elims before?

I think the last time UST-MVT swept the elims was way back when Coach Odjie was still playing, I think 93-94.

In as much as I want to see UP and Ateneo battle it out for another day after tomorrow I think it is unfair to UST. Sweep is a Sweep napaka hirap non at di lang basta basta sweep Convincing Sweep. They are not seriously tested sa whole duration ng tournament. It's stupid what they're doing.

The only benefit they have is the twice to beat advantage, an advantage that the no. 2 ranked team gets to enjoy even if it has lost several matches.

Anyway, God will protect our boys from the evil forces within the UAAP board. I hope this incident spurs them even further to do better and win the title in a thumping manner.

Di biro ang ginawa nila and they deserve to be rewarded for winning all their games in the elims.
