I've noticed this recently especially for those people who go to universities there in the PHilippines. Why is it that your choice of school makes your ego bigger?? I was reading this one guys posts in another forum and he tended to belittle those people who he thought didn't have the same level of education he did??

I have more insights and questions about this issue and I hope all of you guys try to put ur two cents in..

Thanks..

some people say my ego's as big as the planet jupiter. if that's true, i wouldn't consider it a problem. i'm more worried about my room-temperature IQ. LOL!!!!

it's just that some college people around here tend to believe that their affiliation with their school makes them superior over everybody else.

for the most part, it mellows down after graduation. when they finally realize that they're not actually as good as they think, and people from other schools, are actually as good, if not better, than they are.

peace.

to the thread originator:

lighten up! if people didn't have egos beyond tolerable levels, enrollment in the a and l would drop to 0.

i think the universities or schools are also partly to blame...case in point, when they promote their university to hs students they never fail to mention that a grduate topped this exam or you won't have a hard time finding a job if you graduate from our school...

but i don't think that it's fair to generalize that everybody who comes from up, dlsu, ust, ateneo, etc have bigger egos than other people...siguro mas napapasin lang dahil nga galing sila sa mga mas-known na schools

But can those be logical reasons, or should i say EXCUSES, just to belittle other people?

Yun na nga eh, top 4 universities karamihan ang nagyayabang. The problem is that while they are educated not to belittle others, sow the seed of unity, be humble but righteous, be a man for others, be a christian achiever for God and country, be this be that etc., sila pa yung nagaawayan.

Kapal niyo!:grrr:

bakit ka naman magpapa apekto if you're pretty much secure with yourself?

moon godess: simple, ganyan talaga ang karamihan ng mga tao..parang brand din yan, the better brand you have the more "sosy" you will look . pero what counts most there is if the person who wears that cetain brand fits him (WELL). & most of the people here (or should i say just some, or even one ,who's just trying to flip us all) does not.

why not help promote collective academic excellence among universities and colleges instead of bombarding useless ranking and competitions and wild criticisms within these institutions?

i think that this "massive ego" deal springs from the fact that most schools and universitites project certain images toward the public. ANd, as already been stated, we can not blame these institutions for what they "appear to be"

whenever students get accepted to schools and universities exemplifying the qualities of either the elite, or the C-D classes, they would always think that they are good enough to be in the school....they carry the school's image with them wherever they go

Marami nang nagsabi nito. Subalit paano? Sino ang magsisimula? I know some inter-University programs na naglalayong itaas and academic excellence. Pero kaunti parin.

Any suggestions?
