A TRIBUTE: The Phenomenal UST TIGRESSES (WVT)

Many are saddened, but there's still a lot to celebrate about this team. Even though they're out of contention now, their impact to the Philippine volleyball scene lives on; and continues to generate excitement and electricity among volleyball fans.

There's just something about these girls that charmed a huge following from north to south. People give a different glow when they see yellow, or when they hear UST. There's this undescribable feeling that draws and bond people together.

UST has captured many hearts and gained loyalty since the very first edition of Shakey's V-League and they're still doing it up till now. It's like the Baranggay Ginebra of volleyball, favorite team ng bayan.

Is it pure talent? Beauty? Grace? Or simple friendliness? Or a mix of all? Or something more?

I hate to break you're spirits, but it's not the favorite team ng bayan. It's just you're 40000++ students who seemed to be the best varsity fan's club ever. I doubt that it even fits the name of Barangay Ginebra ng Volleyball. Many supported FEU rather than UST; certain people from my school to name afew.

If they are what you're talking about, then people from other school must be supporting UST! But I guess not, it's just the number of your students donning the yellow and white.

Well, just to answer that, a heartwarming fact is that there are A LOT of non-Thomasians who support UST. More than what you know or expect. And when I said from north to south, that's literal.

Hmm. I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. In the last 10 years, UST only made the Finals only once which was last year.

The post-Roxanne Pimentel era is probably the dark age for UST Volleyball as there were years from 1997-2004 where they would not make it in the Final Four or would place 5th or 6th, even with talented players like Joyce Pano, Rubie de Leon, Bridget Inferio, Anna Fulo, etc.

But don't get disheartened as Coach August is a good coach. He and his girls will come back and grab the title soon. We just don't know when, but he will.

Im glad that fans from davao are making an appreciation video for our volleybelles. Maraming nagrerequest kung pede daw eh V League na daw sa Linggo. Kung pwede daw ma-fast forward ang mga nangyayari eh gagawin nila. :-. Iba talaga hatak ng mga ust volleybelles.

Ask ko lang ah. Sana walang magalit. After nanalo ng FEU sa UST last Wednesday, parang walang news sa mga broadsheets regarding that or hindi ko lang nakita. And last year UAAP at last seasons ng V League, 1 week before finals pa lang eh puro media hype na about the finals. Parang lahat ng tao eh excited sa mga mangyayari. Ang mga fansites eh halos kasing bagal na ng PEX dahil madaming online at nakikitsismis sa larangan ng volleyball.

if my memory serves me right, UST enters the finals in season 67 against DLSU. correct me if i'm wrong.

DLSU swept the eliminations and emerged champions. There was no rule that time regarding a team sweeping the eliminations but after La Salle was proclaimed sweep champions, UAAP immediately changed the rules stating that if ever a team sweeps the eliminations, there would still be Final Four following the same format. :)

By the way, UST's popularity does not live on rivalries. Mapa-DLSU, San Sebastian o FEU man 'yan, the fans and supporters are always there, rock solid.

I wonder kung sino ang maglalaro sa V-League this coming March dahil maiiba na daw ang format. Probably nandiyan pa rin sina Balse, Bernal at Roces (honorary member na siya ng UST Team :)).

previously, i will get so mad with ust's service errors. but then i now appreciate the fact they're trying to mix their serves to try and get maybe an ace. some teams are so consistent they may feel boring, even as it delivers the goods so to speak. i guess being unpredictable is one thing that make them a darling of the crowd. true they may have a talented lineup, but they can show they're not invincible... so every team is running for their neck, and so that adds drama to every game that ust is involved in. i don't subscribe to what was said that feu has even more fans than ust... for in trying to catch up to the wvt mania, i've been to a lot of blogs and forum and have seen how many non-uste students or not even uaap affiliated schools, and even a great many of them from visayas and mindanao, are ust fans. what maybe debatable is whether daquis is the most popular player, with the likes of charo soriano, dani castaneda, denise tan and angeli tabaquero all gunning for that honor.

case in point: i had been liberal in my postings in my blog site. i have tried to give each team their own corner for which fans can gravitate to. but always the pages that's gotten the most views are for ust. that's why if one may see a preponderance of ust wvt pictures it's becoz they're the most requested, and not necessarily me being a thomasian myself.

huwag na tayo lumayo, dito lang sa pex tabaquero has had two threads already... and denise's is just as active. spikeithard.com had a poll who will win this season's championship and ust is the runaway winner (well, of course, if only polls could win the championships. hehe).

This is so true, encanto. I'm a non-Thomasian myself but I've been a supporter of the UST Women's Volleyball team since I started seeing them in Season 69. I also love the way they played in the recently concluded V-League games.

Yes, when you watch them, there's something enchanting. A charm that makes you feel that you want them to win it. Their vibrance is contagious. Key players have distinct and individual personalities, and it radiates in their spirit and behaviours on the volleyball court.

Just proves that their fanbase in volleyball is not based on the yellow and white crowd alone.

I can't wait for the next time to see these girls in action! :)

By the way, this is not really on topic, but I'll say this as well in the context of women's volleyball: I am really entertained seeing the Adamson women's team during the timeout. I really look forward to it when I watch the games on TV. Their coach is fun to watch, with her words and actuations. Very contagious also.

i don't see any reason why some people here make a big deal out of the purported lack of coverage by some newspapers on the success of other volleyball teams. it just does not validate the point that ust is the most popular volleyball team in the country today.

anyway, ust is, indeed, the most popular volleyball team in the country today. need proof? go to the venue, watch the game. just see how much crowd (thomasians and non-thomasians alike) support the girls, whether they face the most competetive teams or the also-rans. or visit different fora. or just pay close attention to the "respect" the commentators give to ust.

however, credit should not only be given to ust. you have also got abs-cbn and shakey's to thank.

This season has been a roller coaster ride for this girls’ campaign. We have had our laughs and there were days we have wept (or almost). The quest for a back-to-back title just vanished from our sight. It has been heart-breaking for the UST WVT, the Thomasian community and for the UST WVT supporters. The girls are disappointed and it’s obvious. They were the ones who gave time, energy and commitment to give their school pride and honor. Among anyone they were the people affected the most in this loss. They might have lost but they stood their ground and even force a final and deciding set from what is deemed to be a landslide win for FEU. Kudos to our lady tigresses for showing heart and compassion. You girls really are CHAMPIONS!!!

This loss made a lot of things realized by the team including the players and the coaching staff. Some things might have been overlooked or it may just be destined. However, with all the handicap that they might have had, this girls still played superbly. This is one of the things that made them attract a huge number of supporters. Oh well, aside from their looks, their oomph, their humility and their undeniable charisma.

I would only like to inculcate that this team is loved by numerous volleyball enthusiasts and these people are just here to stay. That’s one thing that made this UST team rise above other collegiate volleyball teams. Like what coach august said… “They don’t just win the games; they also won the hearts of the crowd.

Shakey’s V-League will be starting in a month or so. Maybe then we could see a more determined, and furious UST WVT and by that time we’re just here to back this girls up!

It is so heartwarming to see how most people, Thomasians and non-Thomasians (even those not related with the UAAP) still wish to have UST in the finals. But then, just like our MBT, this is not their year, and more to that, we won't see our "Double B" and Torrijos in action again. We'll miss them, that's for sure.

I wonder who will be the next team captain? I think it will be a toss between Tabaquero and Tan. And I can't wait to see Maizo and Mabbayad back in their UST jerseys again. The cute Rhea Dimaculangan, Mance, Cu, Lazaro, Curato, and Benedicto are ought to prove that they too, can sustain the heritage brought by their leaders Balse, Bernal and Torrijos.

I'll try to give my two cents worth re this topic. Just to distinguish between phenomenal and ephemeral:

The Random House Webster's Unabridged Dictionary defines phenomenal as highly extraordinary or prodigious; exceptional, while it defines ephemeral as lasting a very short-time; short-lived.

This essentially means something phenomenal can also be ephemeral and vice versa.

I doubt if the UST Tigresses are ephemeral and yet I would like to say that they are phenomenal only in the sense that they brought back the public's love for the game -- from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi. In a sense they are phenomenal because they keep people glued to their TV sets even if these people did not come from the same school as ours (honorary Thomasians). To me, their being phenomenal is still in process -- it's still being solidified. They won the championships last year after a 10-year drought -- that's phenomenal! but they were not able to defend it this current UAAP season -- maybe ephemeral?

Nonetheless, many fans will have to agree with me that the following really count a lot in making the team very popular:

the height factor -- Filipinos who are not that tall marvel at the average height of the Tigresses. Save for their liberos -- Kim Lazaro or Michelle Del Rosario -- the average height of the team must hover between 5' 8 to 5' 10.

the beauty of its stars -- Daquis may be the "in' face of the championships, but Denise Tan still remains to be the face of UAAP women's volleyball. The interest she generated last season reached unprecedented heights. While she did not see much action this season, she has proven that she's still the main setter of this team (Coach Shaq Delos Santos kinda reacted to how the public reacted to his decision to bench Denise during the 1st two sets during that crucial game against FEU by saying, "Denise's fans are so perfect that they don't commit any mistakes" or to this effect.)

Angeli Tabaquero remains one of the most beloved faces of UAAP. Maybe it helps that people somehow associate her with Thomasian beauty queen Miriam Quiambao, who like her also hailed from Lagro, Novaliches. Tabaquero's smile oftentimes brightens an otherwise gloomy atmosphere at the BEG, and radiates to fans at the Arena and elsewhere.

There's also Melissa Cu who's very beautiful. She's set to shine at next season's staging of the UAAP. And of course, Karla Benedicto.

Even Mary Jean Balse and Venus Bernal are beautiful in their own right. And of course, the crush ng bayan, Kimberly Lazaro. How can I forget Rhea Dimaculangan who's also a cutie? And Hannah Mance who's not bad-looking herself.

a never-say-die or campione attitude -- They earned the respect of hard-core FEU fans, didn't they? (Except that FEU is having a hard time beating Adamson.) They've been champions and they will be champions, again. That's for sure. :)

And of course, the fact that they're studying in one of the premier universities in the country says something about what's inside their heads.

UST's being phenomenal will not end with the departure of MJ Balse and Venus Bernal. If at all, this will only motivate the "lesser" players at the moment to become better in time for next season's UAAP. If it's true that Aiza Maizo will be coming back, and so is Lilet Mabbayad, it won't be long for them to be taking home the bacon again.

Essentially, what I'm saying is that the glimmer of this team is not short-lived; however, they have yet to achieve their full potentials, so they're still on their way to becoming legends.

And legends don't sit on their way to immortality.

I hate to break you're spirits, but it's not the favorite team ng bayan. It's just you're 40000++ students who seemed to be the best varsity fan's club ever. I doubt that it even fits the name of Barangay Ginebra ng Volleyball. Many supported FEU rather than UST; certain people from my school to name afew.

If they are what you're talking about, then people from other school must be supporting UST! But I guess not, it's just the number of your students donning the yellow and white.

(A lot of varsity die-hards are for Ateneo and De La Salle. Many non-Ateneans and non-LaSallians have joined the rivalry all through out.)

What? im not from USTE, im actually a mapuan and I confess to be a die-hard fan of this team. I believe in the team and I saw players who are very talented and very friendly as well. Hmm. I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. In the last 10 years, UST only made the Finals only once which was last year.

The post-Roxanne Pimentel era is probably the dark age for UST Volleyball as there were years from 1997-2004 where they would not make it in the Final Four or would place 5th or 6th, even with talented players like Joyce Pano, Rubie de Leon, Bridget Inferio, Anna Fulo, etc.

But don't get disheartened as Coach August is a good coach. He and his girls will come back and grab the title soon. We just don't know when, but he will.

Let me just correct you. UST were back to back champs on year 1996 and 1997. Rox graduated on 1996. On the year 2000 - 2002 FEU championed the UAAP women's volleyball. On the year 2000 and 2001, UST was their bridesmaid but in 2002, UST finished 3rd, DLSU became 2nd because of a better quotient than the Tigresses(they have identical 11-3 W-L records to FEU's 14-0

Let me make myself clear. I'm talking about fandom in the context of the whole UAAP. Nothing beats Ateneo-La Salle meeting in any competition.

In the context of volleyball, it's FEU and DLSU (who, as of the moment, is on its decline.) UST fine, but as far as I know, it's still Thomasians themselves.

And mind you when I was passing through the market near us, some of the sellers are watchin' a certain match of Ateneo against La Salle, I was so pissed when this one tindera called Soriano some foul word. Of course, I didn't pick a fight.

Basta Ateneo La Salle, no matter how superficial, extends beyond hardcourt, beyond golf courses and has reached the realms of NYTimes.

Let me correct you, the rivalry of Ateneo and La Salle is only popular in basketball. In volleyball, the most known rivalry is not the former but UST and FEU.

But another thing, I doubt if you're from UST. You cannot understand our point of view if you didn't or don't come from the same school as ours. Pag sinabi mong pampalubag-loob, it's meant to appease people, especially the fans na tipong "mga kuya at ate, hwag kayong mawawalan ng pag-asa dahl hindi pa huli ang lahat." I don't think this thread sees it that way. Maybe it's just you.

Second, people here are entitled to show their support to UST, regardless if they won or not. Do you have a problem with this?

At anong para di malungkot....? Personally, hindi ako nalulungkot. Nagagalit ako dahil sa FEU lang kami natalo -- na hindi manalu-nalo sa Adamson. Nagagalit ako dahil maraming nangyari sa team namin ngayong taon na nakasagka sa pagkapanalo namin ng back-to-back championships.

Ano ngayon kung legacy ang pinag-uusapan dito? The mere fact that Tan, Tabaquero, Balse, Bernal -- oh, you may also include Daquis, Semana, and the others -- are household names now, I don't think it's because of FEU or Ateneo or La Salle or Adamson, isn't it? If you're educated enough to read between the lines, you'll know that it's because of the UST Tigresses. And that's a fact. Having jampacked V-League Championships at the Arena, you'll know that it's not because of Bualee or Devanadera or any other girl from San Sebastian. I don't need to elaborate or belabor this point.

If you meant to seem parokyano-ish, you've proven your point. But if you think you can get away with your nonsense, even if you're entitled to your own point of view, for as long as I'm reading the posts here -- and I personally didn't like what you said because it's out-of-bounds, nonsensical, gibberish or what-have-you -- you'll be hearing more a piece of my mind.

I was so confident of UST at least be able to defend their crown, but then again, we cannot win them all.
What is more important is they played their best.

CAMPIONE pa rin kayo para sa akin, at para sa lahat ng mga Thomasians and even non-Thomasians na sumusuporta sa team throughout these years.
Yes, blumarc, UST is for me the only team in the "whole UAAP" that could boast of a solid fan-base na hindi graduate or hindi enrolled sa UST.

That is why I like it better kung walang ka-rival ang UST, unlike sa ADMU-DLSU or DLSU-ADMU. Para sa akiin, at para sa nakararaming katulad ko, walang karibal ang UST. Mga simpleng tao lang ang mga taga-USTe, at hindi kami mahilig mag-granddstand at umepal.

Manalo, matalo andun pa rin ang suporta namin at HINDI LANG SA BASKETBALL namin pinapakita ang suporta at pagmamahal sa aming mga student-athletes.

Basketball will always be the sport I love most. But I no longer have the adoration to a team wherein you always anticipate and follow their campaign in a season.

UST spikers to skip Shakey's V-League fifth season

MANILA, Philippines - Bad news to volleyball fans out there.

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigress Spikers, champions in the last two conferences of the Shakey's V-League collegiate volleyball competitions, will no longer participate in this year's 5th season of the tournament.

Acting head coach Cesael de los Santos, in lieu of the absence of long-time coach August Sta. Maria who suffered a stroke last Sunday night, said the team will no longer join the league that is set kick off hostilities this coming March 30 in order for the players to concentrate more on their studies.

He added that they would also use the long summer break to re-organize a team hampered because of the injuries of star-players Angeli Tabaquero, Venus Bernal and 70th UAAP spiker-of-the-year Mary Jean Balse.

De los Santos said their decision not to join the Shakey's V-League has the blessing of UAAP President and UST Athletic Director Fr. Ermito de Sagon.

"Last week pa namin pinag-uusapan kung sasali pa ang team sa tournament. In the end, we decided that it's best for the team not to join the tournament," De Los Santos told GMANews.TV in a phone interview.

"Burned-out ang mga players that's why we are not joining. Aside from that nagra-run conflict kasi ang tournament sa pag-aaral ng mga bata that's why we made the decision (not to join)," he added.

De los Santos, who was once a member of the RP men's volleyball team in the ‘90s, also said that they will also concentrate their site on the upcoming 71st season of the UAAP volleyball competitions in December in hopes of reclaiming the women's title they lost last month.

"Gusto rin namin i-focus ang training namin sa UAAP. I think magagawa namin yun kung hindi muna kami sasali sa V-League," he said.

UST won the 69th UAAP women's volleyball crown last year, only to lose it this year when they were ambushed by eventual champions Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws in the Final Four late last month.

With UST's absence, the league will be left with only seven teams, namely San Sebastian College, Ateneo de Manila University, Adamson University, De La Salle University, 2008 UAAP champs Far Eastern University, Lyceum of the Philippines and debuting College of Saint Benilde.

Champion teams from the south - University of San Jose-Recoletos of Cebu and University of St. La Salle of Bacolod - will also make their debut in the biggest stage of the sport where top squads from UAAP and NCAA strut their wares.

Tonyboy Liao, commissioner of the tournament, said they decided to invite teams from Visayas since "volleyball is very popular there."

Liao said the two teams, regular fixtures in the UniGames in Bacolod where UAAP and NCAA teams also play, would play only in the quarterfinals.

"The team won’t play in the elimination due to logistical constraints," he said.

The Shakey's V-League's opening ceremony will start at 1 p.m. at The Arena in San Juan.

There will be a single round robin in the elimination for the eight teams, where the top two teams automatically clinch the semifinal slots while the last two eliminated. The remaining four will meet the Visayan teams in the one-round quarterfinals where the top two qualify in the semis.

The top two teams in the classification phase and the top two teams of the quarterfinals will play another single round for the placing in the final.

Teams landing in third and fourth place will play a best-of-three for the bronze medal while the first and second ranked team will play for the best-of-three series for the gold medal.

Ano ngayon kung legacy ang pinag-uusapan dito? The mere fact that Tan, Tabaquero, Balse, Bernal -- oh, you may also include Daquis, Semana, and the others -- are household names now, I don't think it's because of FEU or Ateneo or La Salle or Adamson, isn't it? If you're educated enough to read between the lines, you'll know that it's because of the UST Tigresses. And that's a fact. Having jampacked V-League Championships at the Arena, you'll know that it's not because of Bualee or Devanadera or any other girl from San Sebastian. I don't need to elaborate or belabor this point.

If you meant to seem parokyano-ish, you've proven your point. Curious lang ako kung kailan nag-umpisang mahumaling ang mga tao dito sa UST WVT.

I started watching V-League nung 2005 (I think). It was the conference before UST took leave of absence. Game one or two ng finals yata 'yung napanood ko sa tv against DLSU. Nagalingan ako at na-thrill sa laro. So, with my old Smart Simply Amazing "GO USTe" banner, I watched the next game live at RMC, alone. That's the time na na-late pa ang pep squad ng DLSU. Hell, had I known it'd be that intense nagdala na sana ako ng kasamang mahahampas-hampas ko sa balikat. :D Halos lumuwa na ang baga ng mga tao sa kakasigaw. Pinagpapatayan bawat puntos. The level of game is what they call "heart attack". Tipong hindi na ako makatingin sa court at nangangatog na ako sa kaba. Ginawan ko pa nga 'to ng entry sa aking journal (na hindi ko naman natapos) sa tindi ng excitement na naramdaman ko. May record pa pati 'ata ako nito sa VHS, sana mahalungkat ko pa.

I can remember matunog na ang mga pangalan nina Balse at Bernal noon. And if I am not mistaken, Pimentel (THE LEGEND) was there playing, too. Pero hindi pa ako ganun katandain sa itsura nila. Basta alam ko lang na sinisigaw ng mga tao ang pangalan nila. Natatandaan ko 'tong linya na 'to: "Balse, manghalimaw ka na!" I enjoyed the crowd's enthusiasm.

Sadly, UST lost. After that, hiatus. UAAP season 69 na nang manood ulit ako ng volleyball na kung saan nag-champion sila. Since then, direcho na ang pagsubaybay ko sa kanila.

kami ng tatay ko, it was a replay of a game between ust and ateneo (or was it AdU) yata last december... nung kasagsagan ng mga replays ng v-league sa studio 23 (or was it NBN?) during the long xmas holiday. tuwang-tuwa lang kami pag mag-attack na sina balse and bernal. di ko pa kilala ang kalibre ni denise and angeli. then nadadaanan ng camera si joey torrijos pero very fleeting lang pero napansin ko pa rin, kaya inaabangan ko talaga pag nasa loob siya. that's why i also resolved to watch the games live. another memorable game for us was the exciting 5-setter match between dlsu and ust last january. ito yata ang season opener for this year. napabilib kami sa fighting spirit nila kahit nag 2-0 pa yata ang score nun, with ust down.

^ Naku, sayang. Sana napanood mo rin 'yung 5-setter ng UST-SSC sa game 3 ng V-League finals. Mas cliff-hanging 'yun. Taas ng level ng laro. Pati na rin 'yung 5-setter ng UST-AdU (which Coach August described as a horror movie kind of ride) sa V-League last conference. I remember panalo na dapat ang AdU nun pero parang nabuhay sa hukay ang UST. LOL!

basta nakaa-aliw ang mga fans... puro hiyawan... don ako unang nainis sa galing ng mga carolino sisters... i hate them!! sobra kasing galing nila... hahaha... eventually dlsu won 2-1. hayy those were the days na masarap balik-balikan...

UST and DLSU both have 1 championship trophy nung unang nagkamalay ako sa V-League. Since then, lagi na kaming sumusubaybay... :D

Last 2006 - UAAP Season 69, when UST came back to play. Ever since I saw Ms. Denise Tan, man, I got stuck to the team.

Because of Denise, I was also able to appreciate the other members of the team. I realized how great Ms. Balse was... I discovered why Venus became an MVP... I felt the strong attacks of Ms. Angeli Tabaquero...

Napapansin ko lang, pag UST ang naglalaro, parang palaging maraming tao (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't always have the chance to watch their games live). Parang merong kung anong "force" na nagda-drive sa mga tao na manood. Parang nagliliwanag ang paligid kapag nandyan ang UST team.

I used to be a fan of DLSU, particularly Manilla Santos. But because of those negative issues that surrounded them over the past years, parang nawalan na ko ng gana sa kanila. Ang yayabang pa nung ibang players nila - feeling nila, parang sila ang pinakamagaling. Sorry if I hurt some DLSU fans out there - I'm just sharing my opinions. Anyway, di ko naman nilalahat ang mga players ng DLSU. My respect for some of its players is still there. My respect for Manilla is still there. My respect for Michelle Datuin is still there.

Yes, meron pa ring replays ang V-League sa cable, sa VIVA Prime channel. Pinapakita dun yung VLeague 2nd season last year. Battle for 3rd (ADMU vs. AdU) yung pinakita kanina.

There are times na laging UST ang pinapakita. Ilang beses nang pinakita yung championship match nila against SSC. Halos magsawa na nga ako e, hehehe. :-)

8:30 AM yung airtime, Mondays to Fridays, meron din ata pag Sabado at Linggo.

Dati, nawala yung mga replays. Puro tennis yung pinapakita nila. Pero buti na lang tinanggal na nila. Wala sigurong nanonood nung mga yun, hehehe. :-)

This may be a late late late post but I still want to applaud the UST Tigresses for bagging 3rd place. Haha. Ngayon lang ulit ako nakapag-post sa mga online forums. =p Honestly, I didn't see the sorrow game against FEU. I only knew about it in an email when I was out of the country. Anyhow, I supposed the girls fought hard. Perhaps this defeat can serve as inspiration come season 71.

UST won't join this V-league right. Well, I hope they can bring back the trophy in España next UAAP season. =)

Lilet Mabbayad is playing as a guest player of CSB, middle din ang position. As usual, tore-tore na naman siya, nakakatulong sa ganda ng blockings ng CSB. Nakakapanibago rin na Roces is playing for SSC, pero I think bagay din naman siya sa team na 'to. Ang daming nag-cheer sa kanya nung opening.

Ang daming images ng yellow balloons sa special opening videos ng Shakey's V-League. Nakaka-miss! Ang ganda rin nung angulo ng kuha sa pabilog na bow ng Tigresses, may glow effect pa.

Haha! Napanood ko 'yung replay ng DLSU-UST final four match last Saturday sa Studio 23. That's Season 68. Wow... Nine rookies! Ang laki ng in-improve nila after a year- esp Mabbayad and Tan. Pagdating ng Season 69, champions na, tapos back-to-back champions pa sa V-League.

At sa wakas, nakita ko na rin si Co Yu Kang sa tv. Siya pala 'yun parating pinag-uusapan ng mga tao. She's a very good libero, nga lang nung season 68 walang support from her other teammates sa defense. May Domines na open spiker (tama ba?) pa pala dati.

Oo nga. Nagulat nga ako - setter na pala si Denise nun no? Kala ko, Season 69 sya nagsimulang maging setter. Malaki na talaga inim-prove nya thru the years.

Sana mapraning uli Studio 23 at mag-replay uli sila ng mga volleyball games, particularly those of UST. Puro kasi basketball pinapakita nila e. Hehehe.:rotflmao:

When I entered UST... kinahihiya ko ang maging taga-ust... Kahit na UST nursing pa ako. All because the basketball team is a bunch of losers back then. The UAAP basketball became a good marketing strategy for incoming freshmen. UAAP became a publicity.

Well, I know ever since that VOLLEYBALL is UST's forte because of the V-league. Before I said I'd rather have my picture taken with UST women's volleyball team than the UST men's basketball team.

And heck, The girls are so great. I never watched live before. Only on TV. Lagi ko silang pinapanood magtraining sa gym. Galing. Galing. Palagi.

Nung nanood akong live... That's the time na nafeel ko ang pure force spirit ng TOMASINO. Ang lakas, ibang klase wala pang Yellow Jackets na kasama who are the most powerful pep squad in the UAAP (aminado lahat ng ibang pep squad na sila nga ang pinakamalakas). It gave me the chills. And I am so PROUD to be THOMASIAN. isama mo pa dyan ang cheerdance, football, at lahat na yata ng sport. heck... magagaling ang TOMASINO.

I'm always been a sports fanatic... at nalaman ko for my 3 years stay in UST, i have all the reasons to be PROUD.

Napraning nanaman ang Studio 23 joey! Pinalabas yung Men's and Women's Volleyball Finals Game 1 Season 68 kanina!
Unfortunately talo tayo sa FEU sa men's in 5 sets. Pero it was one heck of a game!
DLSU and AdU faced-off in the women's finals. DLSU won in straight sets with a very dominating performance.
