toni only played a few minutes kanina pero nung ipinasok siya nung 3rd set na eh biglang nabuhayan iyung up. anyway, at this point winning for me is secondary to me, just to see the girls play is enough for me. ideally sana 5 sets iyung game para that way eh mas matagal airtime ng lady maroons, pero ok na rin ako dun sa 3 sets! :love:

well, while we all admire the beauty, brains and talent of the UP Lady Maroons volleyball team, i am hoping that they will be able to become, at least, a Final Four-quality team from 2008 onwards. i wish they would get more exposure, training and development by taking part in off-season tournaments such as the Shakey's V-League. :)

up played poorly yesterday. i believe 5 is the lowest scoring output of any team this season.

sayang, maganda pa naman 'yung pinakita nila nung early goings nung first set.

why was carmela doing the setting chores? sayang 'yung contributions niya sa pag-attack. her replacement barcelon was useless. so was crescini. sayang kasi late na siya pinalitan ni tan, who proved to be up's sparkplug.

bakit iba rin 'yung libero nila? she's pretty, though.

hernandez has one of the best off-speed shots in the tournament.

up still has a long way to go. the girls need to commit more, especially in blocking, which is their strength.

i have told toni na about their being error prone... and it's good they themselves are aware of their shortcomings naman pala. they know they lack consistency so for sure they're doing something about it. pero as BK said, dapat additional exposures pa rin sa high level tournaments to hone their skills.

I agree, pwede nga silang makipagsabayan. Madami nga lang talagang unforced errors minsan, si Manukay minsan sa serves tapos si Crescini naman parang si Taganas of ADMU nag hi hit and miss.

Kaso mukhang magiging malaking obstacle yung pagkawala ni Castaneda next season, pero who knows baka makakuha sila ng magagaling na rookies next year. Sana magkaron ng game time pa si Tan, mukhang may skills siya.

I had no idea about their game vs NVSU yesterday, but i watched their game vs Perpetual today at the RTU Gym. They won 3-0 with set scores 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.

One of the strengths of the team is blocking. Grabe, solid talaga ang mga blocks kanina. Standout player for me is Aguilan (jersey no.5), who played a good game and contributed a lot to those blocks.

I don't know if the lineup they used is the lineup for season 71. I didn't see Belgado though. Ubos na ba playing years niya? Also saw some new faces.

agree. you really can't fault these girls from not really trying. some may go on court a little made up but you should see them play. me kulang lang talaga kaya medyo underachiever pa sila ngayon. pero di naman absolute yan. yung team a and team b nila ang naglaban sa finals ng petron beach volleyball sa palawan. yung team nina michiko ang first at 2nd naman ang team ni jedd. then ayan at kasali pa rin sila sa toribio cup and still in the running. you should see ms. south ramos play, too.

no one can fault charo for not having brought yet any championship trophy to ateneo, but everyone admires her talent and beauty. so it's just a matter of winning.

FEU beat UP Team B for 3rd place (sayang! umabot pa naman ng napaka exciting na 5th set), while Adamson beat UP Team A for the Torribio Cup Championship. Sana lang the match went the distance, although yung score ng 3rd set was 30-28.

So 1st Adamson, 2nd UP Team A and 3rd FEU

I'd say that was a good showing for both team A and team B. To think they had a lot of rookies playing, and medyo experimental/exposure/practice ito :)

She isn't just a pretty face. She's included in UP's line-up, so that means she has the talent and skills that UP needs. She's one of the best in UP. She performed better than the rest who were not accepted in Team A. :p Now, she may not be as talented as the other pretty faces in UAAP, but it's the only thing UP can offer right now. Definitely not her fault. Blame it on other factors, if you like. (recruitment, etc.)

We can always support the team and hope that all players improve and eventually win more games compared to last year's.

But I guess you can always rant and b.tch about Jed being just a pretty face. Bitter much? LOSERS ALL! bwa ha ha. :glee: :laugh:

nakikita ko naman na lumalaban sila hanggang kaya nila, however Jed and other UP volleybelles are no Daquis, Santos, Tan, Laguilles etc. I watched a couple of games last season including yung laban nila against FEU yata were they were leading 6 points in set 3 then napagod na sa huli. Effort is there but unfortunately kulang lang talaga sa star player and talents. I'm not downgrading this team malay niyo they will shock UAAP volleyball this year right? who knows?
