why do we continue having pathetic popular figures in our schools? pathetic meaning, people belonging to well-known groups mainly because, theyre either good-looking (media standards), filthy rich, or they've flaunted their bad *** images.
(for those who probably think i envy those people)
i mean, im not sourgraping or anything close to that. when i was in high school, our barkada was made up of noticeably intelligent, good looking and talented people. modesty aside, we were quite known ni high school.
may it be hard for some to believe, it wasnt the attention i enjoyed about it. it was the sincerity of each and everyone of us in the group in being able to relate with one another, accepting/living up with each others flaws, and just purely being concerned about each others needs and our own needs as well. we didnt need the attention (although it was a plus factor) we all know people under this classification have certain advantages to it like... easily getting their way.. among other things.
whats sad is that, for some, in their undying attempt to belong to what is supposedly the "in" crowd, they lose there sense of individuality. i know a couple of people who pose as toughies when theyre with their popular group but when u come across them one on one, their even worse than a helpless kitten stuck on a tree branch.
what is it about popularity that people would sacrifice a whole lot more just to have it? why would u abandon ur real self just to be able to hang out at the coņo bench (for ateneans) or the stone tables (for scholasticans) or what have you?
humor me.
