"From Jan 1 onwards, all Anime Series will be telecast in the original language (Japanese) with Subtitles."

I might actually learn to like this move by axn (that "darniiiitttt!!!!" voice that takes majority of the male lead characters like tamahome and recca :bleh: will no longer torture my ears!), although the subbing may need work (based on "you're under arrest!", they seem to be a tad hurried and shortened).

what do YOU think?

the only downside w/ the subs is that:


they are shortened and minsan wrong spelling pa (ex. Kenshin-Kenshee; Kaoru-Cori etc.) talagang nakakairita panoorin!!! :angry:
not all of us are fast readers. this means na most of the time, we spend our whole viewing time trying so hard to "catch up" with the subs. :(


...pero i liked AXN's effort on remaining true to the real essence of anime! feeling mo tuloy parang authentic yung panonood mo.... walang halong malice at ridicule. besides, their dubbers are sometimes irritating as well :lol:

yep, it was a good move by axn to show all their anime in japanese and use subtitles instead. i want to watch RK all over again just to hear the original dialogue between the characters. tolerable naman *** mga wrong spelling ng mga names ng characters. plus they now have el hazard w/c makes it a two thumbs up for axn!

I was actually surprised when I saw RK the movie in the original Japanese version with subtitles. Sayang at hindi ko naihanda yung VCR ko... kasi yung English dubbed ang na-record ko. Nung una, hindi ko nagustuhan yung original Japanese version ng RK OAV dahil babae yung boses ni Kenshin... tsaka bagay yung voice ni Kenshin sa English dubbed version. However, when I saw the Shigure vs. Kenshin scene sa RK the movie (Jap version), I went WOW! The way they shout their swordfighting styles in Japanese is so darn cool... HITEN MITSURUGI RYUUU!!! So ganoon. Ngayon, aliw na aliw ako sa RK series ngayon coz I get to hear Kenshin shout "HITEN MITSURUGI RYUUU!!!" every time he gives that dreadful blow to his opponents.

not as much anymore. i have to concentrate on reading the subtitles that i dont get to see much of what is happening. i ought to learn japanese. any good schools out there? also, the only new anime is el hazard.

I have learned to appreciate subtitles in Japanese anime. This is because the Japanese context has been preserved. There are times that the English translations westernize it too much such that the Japanese context is lost.

Especially with Rurouni Kenshin, you will appreciate the coldness of the voice of Kenshin, as well as the seriousness when it comes to fighting. This is not to say that the English version is not good, when it fact, it was also splendid.

Again, there are some animes which the English versions simply sound funny or stupid – as in the case of Curious Play (Fushigi Yuugi). Upon watching the Japanese version + subs, some of the "silly dialogs" were made less stupid and more witty.

However, like others, I do hope the subtitling is given time and effort, unlike some which were rushed off.

Kudos to axn for a job well done in returning the animes to their true essences...!! Rk is now even cooler!!! i just hope they remove all the cuts from the animes! Animes arent for kids only!!

which anime do you think axn should stop showing and which do you think would best replace these? i think axn's showing of gatekeepers and the other one is good! ;)

my list of the anime axn should stop showing are:
1. fushigi yuugi (though i like the show)
2. dual :( (too short and NAKAKAIBTIN!)
3. akihabara :P

i guess they should show:
1. aya shino ceres (tragic and beautiful)

diba there are more El-Hazard segments other than the 10(12?)-episode stint that AXN put out? maybe they should try those...preferably begin at the very beginning that explains how the universe and each of the characters came to be, rather than start at the middle where people may be left to wonder whowhatwherewhenwhyhow thisthat happenedishappening...

boohoo these days no :( i have to be in the office by 7 and i can't get anything done kung manonood pa ako ng axn sa umaga. Baka masunog ang suit ko. Sa gabi naman di ko na naaabutan isa pa kahit maaga ako e isa lang ang tv namin. minsan talo ako ng soap opera. buti nga nasisingit ko pa HxH. Showing the anime in japanese w/ english captions is great. pag nag-aral na ako ng nihonggo magagamit ko yun
