After I saw the commercial plugging in the replacement for Lupin III.....Trigun, I honestly thought I was going to hate it. I was expecting that it's another one of those "Ken and Barbie" anime (ie. Gundam Wing, Rurounin Kenshin) or even the corny "Toilet Humor" anime (ie. Burn Up Excess) turns out, it wasn't.

Trigun had everything I like: huge guns, nice plot, humor, good supporting characters, and tons of action scenes. It focuses more on the main character, Vash The Stampede and his upcoming showdown with Knives....rather than destroy the plot with cheesy lovey-dovey garbage to get members of the other sex to watch it.

As I mentioned before, and probably one of the good reasons why I watch Trigun - are the supporting characters. One of Vash The Stampede's comrades got killed in a search-and-rescue mission after only 6 episodes (I think) of air time - it's nice to see that sidekick's aren't invulnerable after all. On the other hand, the guy with the "Crucifix Hand Cannon" is not your typical 'goodie-goodie' sidekick, he's got his own agenda and I was absolutely rooting for him after he shot the kid in the back with a rocket launcher - remember kids, don't let people get your guard down.

Good job by GMA for bagging this one and not hiring voice actors that sound like they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

Yeah, it's cool. I have a copy of the entire series, all 26 episodes. I can't remember though who died in the sixth episode. As far as I know, his only comrades were Nicholas D. Wolfood (priest with the Cross Punisher), Meryl "Derringer" Stryfe, and "Stungun" Millie Thompson.

*Spoiler Alert*

Wolfwood died in episode 23, in his duel with Chapel the Evergreen. He won the duel, and Chapel had already conceded. He got the apple as a reward. However, Legato, (or is it Knives, the episode was not quite clear on that) controlled Chapel's body so he shot Wolfwood.

In an earlier episode, Brad, a guy from the floating city, also died because of the Puppet Master's doll.

But in general, the Trigun series was awesome! I love his guns. His primary gun was big, and cool-looking, a silver custom-made .45 which was the "brother" of the black gun that Knives had. His bionic arm was a mini-uzi. And of course, his angel arm, the gun that destroyed July and Augusta and blasted a hole in the fifth moon of Gunsmoke.

Ok sana yang anime na yan ang ayaw ko lang diyan ay hindi sila nagkakatamaan tuwing nagbabarilan ... di ba dapat medyo magkatamaan naman sila kahit na daplis lang ? .....

yun lang!

Well, anime isn't realistic you know.

Kenshin got stabbed close to the heart with the blood gushing like fountain, yet he was still able to carry on with the fight.

luv this animé!?! the 1st time i saw it... i know it was gonna like it!?! Vash is so  and even Monty Repuyan did a good job at him!?! he's a tragic guy who tries so much to love life no matter how complicated or b!tchy it may be... pero my fave there is Nicholas Wolfwood... he's the most honest and real person dun sa series... and i do have to admit... the arsenal in this series REALLY ROCKS!!! i dunno about you guys but i like this series more than Rurouni Kenshin...

I just watched the locally-available VCDs of Trigun. Although I've only watched three episodes, the series is very interesting and witty. One thing I noticed about it is that English-dubbing works for Trigun. Probably because of the Western theme. I still think subtitles are the best way to go especially for animes with strong Japan connections like Ninja Scroll, Samurai X, Sakura Wars, Evangelion, Patlabor and Ghost In The Shell. Pero with Trigun, like I said, the dubbed version is well-suited.

Can anyone explain to me what went on during the episode before the last one?

Because from what I've seen, Vash realized something when Meryl tried to protect him. What was the thing he realized?

After that, the last episode showed the matchup between brothers with Vash injuring Knives. Alarms went off and I was into "huh?" mode.

Any ideas?

^ He had to kill the spider to protect the butterfly.

So that really wasn't much different from Knives' thinking. Great.

True. The only difference was, killing the spider was Knives' instinct and first option. On the other hand, that was Vash's last resort. Notice that in the entire series, Vash killed only one person.

The last episode was rather symbolic

after a recap and about seven minutes of ***-kicking, VASH has to defeat KNIVES one way or the another

He actually had the choice to kill him or not kill him

I'm pretty sure he was extremely tempted to because of all the BS that KNIVES did, but then he decided not to because of the REALIZATION that Meryll bestowed upon him...

and that is...

You know how the thing with REM went haywire and then there was an incident with MERYLL later on that copied it...

ANYWAY, what it meant to demonstrate to VASH is that even though you went wrong once *killing Legato*, doesn't mean that you can't start over again and succeed *As demonstrated by MERYLL*

Just because he killed once doesn't necessarily mean that he has to do it again

So yeah, that's it

Kudos to KURODA *who wrote the series after it passed the manga which didn't have a plot that far in yet* for coming up with the thing

...

Oh yeah and him tossing his coat away was to symbolize that he can now live outside the words of REM and just look to them for guidance from that point on

...

Oh yeah and JOHNNY YONG BOSCH PWNS j00r S0ul

I remember seeing those hardcore GUNGRAVE and TRIGUN figures in Festival mall...

dunno if they're legit or not though, but they own a lot of ***

I own a 10" Vash figure. Comes with his custom silver gun and his left hand retracts to reveal his second gun. No angel arm though but it comes with Kuro-Neko :glee:
