Remembering Astro Boy.....

I don't know when it began or when the cartoon/comic was first drawn but I do remember the girl robot that became Astro's friend, she had a bomb inside of her and she had to sacrifice her 'life' in order to prevent the bomb from exploding. Her legs were attached to Astroboy to serve as a memento of their friendship... i think...

I wouldn't know about him being the first Jap-anime character but I do know that he first appeared in 1951 as "Tetsuwan Atom" in a comic book with his name changing into "Astroboy" later on. It was only in the 1960's that he became animated as a black-and-white cartoon, and in 1982 he debuted in color.

Yeah, her name was Nikki. That was the episode that really hooked me into regularly watching Astroboy.

Hmmmm...one episode that I really liked was when he didn't want to fight with Atlas, who was his brother, but when they did and he defeated and though he killed Atlas, na-emote ako.

tandang-tanda ko pa yun. i remember noong bata pa ako e ginagaya ko siya with the suit and all. nasa channel 9 pa nga yun, i think at around 4 or 5 siya pinapalabas.

I think the last episode shown here was the one that earth was going to be attacked by aliens. There, Atlas and Astro became brothers again. Atlas was the one who went to fight the aliens...

What happened after? It think this was the Comet episode...

Naaalala ko pa one Sunday pagkatapos kong nakapanood, lumabas ako ng bahay, kunyari lumilipad at may rocket boosters din ako sa paa. E hindi ko nakita may malaking ebs ng kalabaw sa kalye (di pa sementado nun), kaya natapakan ko. At dahil fresh at mamasa-masa pa siya, nadulas ako at plakda yung wetpaks ko!

At nung 1995 nga pala, pinalabas siya uli ng Channel 9. Kaya lang bad trip dahil wala na yung opening at closing themes. Tapos, may mga parte pang putol. Ano ba yun? :rolleyes:

if i recall correctly, atlas sacrificed himself just to save planet earth. ginamit niya *** diamond like ship niya to protect the planet. he used it (diamond like ship) to ram those big asteroids, to prevent them from hitting earth (i think).

in his (atlas) last moments, he'd be seen inside his ship holding his *girlfriend*. tapos, ipapakita rin si astroboy na nagbi-blink *** mga mata nya (if u would recall, pag nasa vicinity ni astroboy si atlas, his eyes would go on & off like a blinker. parang highlander ba na i-can-sense-u :glee: ). niwei, dun sa last moments nga na iyon, ipapakitang unti-unting nawawala *** *blink* sa mga mata ni astro signifying atlas' slow demise. kaiyak talaga *** mga sandaling iyon. i think i even shed a tear during that episode. :shedtears:
