Nobody asked for this to happen. It sucks. I'm nervous now when I wasn't before since I don't know how SBC, a deep team, will react.
MANCOM is composed of all of the member schools, not just JRU. If a rule was broken, you'd be irresponsible to do anything other than just suck it up and accept the consequences.

huh? Are you sure that Aljamal wont be able to play
coz Gabby Espinas and other NCAA players were still able to play despite being drafted in the PBA... Here's what I got from wikipedia...
2006 PBA Draft
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The 2006 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft is an event, which will allows teams to draft players from the amateur ranks. The event was held at Market! Market! in Taguig City on August 20, 2006. The Sta. Lucia Realtors have picked first. Players applied for the draft underwent a weeklong rookie camp overseen by assistant coaches from five PBA teams.
5 Gabby Espinas Philippines San Miguel Beermen Philippine Christian
7 Aaron Aban Philippines Alaska Aces Letran
9 Boyet Bautista Philippines Purefoods Chunkee Giants Letran
The Championship game series of season 82 season was held last Sept 26 and Espinas still played
while Aaron Aban and Boyet Bautista played for the Knights in their final four encounter with PCU which was held during the 1st or 2nd week of Sept...
The three players were not able to join the UAAP-NCAA
all star game though...
Nevertheless, I think Aljamal can and will still play for the
Red Lions till the season ends....
All the way to the finals!!!

Principle of Estoppel applies here...they said that no permission or they were not informed that aljamal will apply for the draft...The issue that Aljamal applied for the draft was published in almost all newspaper of general circulation that is why it is impossible that they do not know...And if they have problems regarding his application for the draft, why did they wait for him to be drafted without clarifying the matter...kumbaga in simple term, hinayaan nila mangyari yun para kung sakali mang-madraft si aljamal automatically makakagawa ng rule barring him to play...
I tell you, in any legal jurisdiction talo ang Mancom sa decision na yan....
It's too scary that the NCAA does not have a thinking MANCOM....it's obvious that if they can't beat San Beda on the court, they will try to do it in the Board room, remember the Pascual rule?
BOO! BOO! MANCOM!

It was an ambush! Plain and simple. Like traffic cops hiding on a dark portion of the street setting up the trap for an unwary motorist.
A day after the PBA draft, the Mancom immediately convened and right there and then decided to bar Aljamal. You can smell the conspiracy and premeditation even if you are on the other side of the pacific ocean. Ha! They were obviously waiting. And they obvioiusly rushed their decision to disqualify Aljamal before the JRU game today.
Cheap shot JRU! You acted in bad faith considering that you are this season's host. Cheap shot indeed!
You just brought the league down to your despicable level.

NCAA: Lion Aljamal’s fate hangs
By Marc Anthony Reyes, Roy Luarca
Inquirer
Last updated 02:51am (Mla time) 08/22/2007
MANILA, Philippines -- The thunderous roar of the San Beda Red Lions in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament may yet be reduced to a whimper.
This developed Tuesday after the league’s management committee (Mancom) disqualified a key player -- Yousif Aljamal -- from playing in the Lions’ remaining games, including San Beda’s 2 p.m. tussle against resurgent Jose Rizal University at 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City.
The 6-foot-4 Aljamal was penalized for allegedly failing to notify the Mancom of his inclusion in the Philippine Basketball Association’s Rookie Draft held last Sunday, where he was chosen as the 8th pick by Air21 but shipped to Talk ‘N Text.
San Beda College rector-president Rev. Fr. Mateo de Jesus strongly protested the Mancom decision and appealed to the NCAA policy board to nullify Aljamal’s disqualification.
The policy board, made up of representatives from the member schools, is set to act on Aljamal’s case before Wednesday’s triple-bill capped by the Mapua-St. Benilde clash at 4 p.m.
“There is no clear-cut policy or any written ruling that an NCAA player who wishes to be part of the PBA needs to secure the permission of the NCAA’s Mancom,” said De Jesus in a press statement. “This decision of the Mancom is clearly unfair and one-sided, and quite contrary to the spirit of collegiality that the NCAA seeks to foster.
“This episode could create the misperception that the NCAA is, in fact, not supportive of its players seeking to move up to the professional ranks.”
The defending champion Lions have won their last three games en route to a pacesetting 8-win, 1-loss record and a berth in the Final Four. They advanced ahead of the idle Letran College Knights, who are assured of a playoff for a semifinal slot at 7-2.
The third-running JRU Heavy Bombers (6-3) are looking to put a foot inside the Final Four when they tackle the Lions.
Even JRU coach Ariel Vanguardia is surprised by his wards’ five-game winning run.
“We have discovered the fire within us and that showed in how we played in the past five games,” said Vanguardia after his wards disposed of the University of Perpetual Help Altas, 65-62, last Aug. 8. “Things are going well for us right now.”
A lone juniors game pitting the Lighties against the Red Cubs at 11:30 a.m. completes the day’s schedule.
The Cardinals (5-6) try to close out their elimination schedule with a victory that would give Mapua at least a rubber match for the last Final Four slot.
A loss will jeopardize Mapua’s chances because it could no longer get a sixth win which idle San Sebastian College (4-5) can still achieve.

The issue was raised by your coaching staff, the meeting was initiated by your school. it was a dirty scheme played by people from your school.Worse is the audacity to propose the forfieture of all of the SBC RL's won games. Walang ka hiya hiya sa buto itong mga taong ito.

First, let me ask you three questions:
1) When Najorda, Bautista, Aban and Espinas were drafted in the PBA were they still playing in the NCAA as student athletes or not?
2) Were you, in all honesty, NOT aware that Aljamal already applied in the draft weeks before last Sunday?
3) Do you in all honesty believe that a rule was really broken?
I'd like to hear your answers on the above.
Second, we are not bashing you or your school, we are just airing our side regarding this matter. Personally, I cannot stomach the thought that a NCAA school will do something, with no moral basis whatsoever, to bring down another NCAA member school.

The rumors along the grapevine reports that SBC threatened to pull out of the NCAA & forfeit all its remaining games if Aljamal was not allowed to play, 'kaya pinaglaro na lang daw si Aljamal para di magkagulo.'
Really, REALLY bad move by JRU.
I think this low blow by JRU will have FAR-REACHING consequences. Aljamal may have been allowed to play, but the damage has been done in terms of CONFIDENCE in the league. A LOT, & I mean REALLY lot, of Bedans are pis_ed off by JRU's UNSCRUPULOUS antics.
Will this incident finally be the last straw that will break the Camel's back, as far as SBC & the NCAA is concerned? Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.

I don't know. I don't have a copy of the local regs, even though I've reviewed parts of it, so I cannot reference it either.
But look at it this way: If a rule was broken and they actually suited up an ineligible player, the entire team could be suspended next season and a championship trophy forfeited. There would be nothing that anyone could do about it.
If there is no rule, he should play.
Ferocious Lion
Aug 22, 2007, 12:51 PM
NO RULE WAS BROKEN.
"The general rules contained in the 2006 Edition of the Constitution and By-Laws of the NCAA makes the substantive point that no active NCAA player should be playing in another tournament whilst the NCAA is ongoing."
Obvioulsy, Aljamal did not participate in any other league or tournament other than the PBA Rookie Camp. Unless JRU saying that the rookie camp is a tournament within the purview of the rules as to require Aljamal to seek prior consent from the MANCOM.
Getting drafted and participating in a rookie camp does not equate to playing in a tournament. Only people with an agenda can come up with such a distorted interpretation of the rules as to cause the disqualification of Aljamal.

Its obvious that the NCAA's MANCOM is HOPELESS. Either they're stupi_, corrupt, or both, coming up w/ a decision that questions their authority & integrity.

I can understand why Coach Frankie lost his cool awhile ago. The fouls that the JRU boys were giving our boys were career-ending. Sahod, alanganing tulak...buti na lang nobody got seriously injured.
Anyways, nice game Red Lions!! Jamal! WOOOOHOOO!!!! What a three during the dying seconds of the game. That was the final nail on JRU's coffin. Nice set-up plays by Pong. Ogie got his groove during the 2nd half.
I didn't see Dave MArcelo sa bench kanina. What happened to him?
And the classic "pang-asar" timeout by coach Frankie during the last 13 seconds of the game, he was rubbing it in.
After all the commotion, and its time for JRU to sing their Alma Mater hymn, at least the Bedan crowd just watched in silence and waited patiently for their turn to sing their song. No need to kick an opponent when he's already down.
I have to give credit to JRU for taking advantage of the "rusty" playing of the Red Lions. For a moment, it made us think they had our number. But the Red Lions regrouped in the 2nd half and never looked back since.
Great game guys! See you sa Final 4 JRU Heavy Bombers!

Tsktsk.. i'm not a supporter of San Beda nor JRU but these are the days that i'd prefer KOY Banal to take over the red lions.
1.) Frankie needs education in terms of fashion. Sino ba namang O.A. na coach ang pupunta sa games naka skinny jeans at patusok na shoes???? ano yan boy abunda??!???? He reminds me of a medicine commercial (for headache ata  i forgot the brand) na ulo lang tapos puro nails yung ulo.. no seriously, ka-o-oyan na yang "fashion statement" ng coach na yan. Remember, this IS BASKETBALL not a fashion show.
2.) I just watched the replay of JRU-Beda matchup where the 2 coaches were in a near fight on court. In all honesty, i don't see the logic on why San Beda's coach suddenly bashed on JRU's Coach. True enough, JRU's player may hit on a very physical foul which got into frankie's head BUT the question is... anong kinalaman nung JRU Coach don??? It's acceptable pa sana kung yung JRU player nalang sinugod nya or yung ref...pero yung coach ng jru?? what's the logic on that??
It's just too disappointing to see that kind of situation where KOY BANAL never EVER did such stupidity on court.
One more thing, calling two useless timeouts in the end canto just to annoy the opponent... WHAT THE...WTF! nakakatawang isipin na inooverpower nyo ang JRU, "bakit ka pumapatol sa level nila"?
ohwell... hope to see koy back next season.

* Here's an additional fact about JRU's unscrupulous actions against Aljamal: Did you know, that the suspension order against Aljamal was dated AUGUST 8, 2007? That was 13 days before it was issued, way before Yousef joined the rookie camp & was drafted. What they did, was ready the suspension order, anticipating his actions, all the while keeping quiet about it. When Aljamal did what they anticipated, the sprang the trap, & issued the suspension just a DAY before the actual game itself. 'Kapal talaga ng mga apog, walang mga modo.'
* Kudos to the Bedans who stayed up all night Tue., all the way up to the wee hours of the next day just to get that TRO out. 'Mabuhay kayo,' you are true heroes of the Bedan community.

If what you are saying is true then I think the BEDAN Community is in a position to take these guys to court for maliciously plotting against them. This is not just plain and simple "panguutak" but it tantamounts to sabotage also.
Honestly, I pity the JRU players, they're like pawns in the game, being used by their coach to further his own interests. Hindi talaga inaawat ni Vanguardia, imagine he didn't even do anything when his own guys Pradas and Nocom exchanged heated words after Nocom was called for an unsportsmanlike foul against Ekwe. If I were coaching and two of my guys argued that way on the court ibabangko ko agad iyung mga iyun just to discipline them.
That said, we must remember that Vanguardia does have a history for the "stupid". He is the same person who made a mockery of basketball rules by instructing Talk N Text players in the PBA to "shoot" threes at Red Bull's basket just so that they can send the game into overtime (at that time TNT had a chance to get an auto semis slot based on the quotient system provided they beat Red Bull by a certain margin) and this is also the same coach who almost came to blows with Franz Pumaren over the summer (during a Flying V game which reached boiling point due to verbal tirades, Vanguardia's fist pumping and JRU's dirty plays). Now, he is party to a shenanigan and a TASTELESS conspiracy to bring down a member school.
With regards to the Lions appearing to be "rusty", I assure everybody that while that may be the case that is only part of the reason behind their "tight" performance during the 1st half. I think its fair to share that the Lions were so PUMPED up to play JRU and deal with them on the court, that they couldn't focus their energies on the game. However, in the 2nd half Frankie made the necessary adjustments --- six to be in fact, namely Menor, Aljamal, Ekwe, Hermida, Escobal and Lanete. Lim went with his starting five and his prized rookie practically during the entire 2nd half (Maggay and Taganas checked in during the last 20 seconds for Aljamal and Ekwe).
Also, if JRU picked the wrong school to messed with, Vanguardia definitely picked the wrong person to mess with. If he thinks he can get away with his hooligan plays against Mr. Pumaren he certainly can't do that, and I think it has been proven already, against Mr. Lim. *****, kung si Yeng Guiao eh nakatikim din kay Lim eh ano lang ba ang isang bangaw wannabee coach.
Lastly, Frankie may not be that great a coach...yet... when it comes to the Xs and Os but he sure showed everybody and his boys that he will stand up for them anywhere, anytime and no matter what the consequences may be.

Court allows San Beda cager to play NCAA games
By Allison Lopez
Inquirer
Last updated 07:26pm (Mla time) 08/22/2007
MANILA, Philippines -- The Manila Regional Trial Court temporarily lifted for 72 hours starting Wednesday a ban on San Beda College’s basketball player from playing the remaining games at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the season.
Executive Judge Reynaldo Ros of Branch 33 gave the reprieve to San Beda College Red Lions' captain Yousif Aljamal Jr., the 6'4" forward, after he was disqualified by the NCAA's management committee (Mancom) for not securing the league's permission before joining the PBA Rookie draft, in a decision released on Tuesday.
Ros granted a petition with an urgent prayer for temporary restraining order (TRO) filed Wednesday morning by SBC and Aljamal, three hours before the 2 p.m. match between the Lions and host school Jose Rizal University.
The petition called the Mancom penalty suspending the Bedans' key player "severe," and said there was "no provision or regulation" cited in the decision as the one he supposedly violated.
It said the Mancom, chaired by JRU athletics director Efren Supan this season, also faulted Aljamal for participating in "other basketball games."
It was alluding to the three-day PBA Rookie Camp on August 14-17 which, the petition claimed, was not covered by the NCAA's constitution and by-laws since it was not a "sports contest, league or tournament" where the common element was "to win or succeed."
Aljamal and his lawyer argued that he "has not been offered any contract or agreement by the team that drafted him, nor participated in any workout or practice session with Air 21," the PBA team that picked the Bedan in the first round.
With an 8-1 win-loss slate, the Red Lions were already assured of a slot in the Final Four, and Aljamal, who was playing his final season, was deemed a crucial player in bringing the school a back-to-back championship win.
But Aljamal’s petition claimed this campaign was "unceremoniously cut short by the hasty, arbitrary, vague and baseless decision of the NCAA Mancom."
The document also emphasized that the one-page letter was received by Aljamal only a day before the JRU game, despite being dated on August 8.
"The proximity of the issuance and service of the notice to the August 22 game of SBC and JRU even shows that the Mancom purposely devised the scheme to deprive SBC and Aljamal any opportunity to vent their side and altogether deprive Aljamal of his right to participate in said game."
The Mancom did not issue a previous notice to the SBC and Aljamal for the alleged infractions the player made, it said.
Aside from the 72-hour TRO, the petitioners asked that it be extended to 20 days while the case for preliminary injunction was being heard by the court.
The petitioners also requested the court to declare the Mancom decision "null and void," and to order the NCAA to pay the petitioners "P500,000 in litigation expenses, attorney's fees and costs."
The civil case was raffled Wednesday afternoon to the Judge Rosario Cruzof Branch 173.

Tsktsk.. i'm not a supporter of San Beda nor JRU but these are the days that i'd prefer KOY Banal to take over the red lions.
WHAT THE...WTF! nakakatawang isipin na inooverpower nyo ang JRU, "bakit ka pumapatol sa level nila"?
ohwell... hope to see koy back next season.
di ka pa supporter ng jru or beda nian ha...kitang kitang bias ka. hahaha

can any JRU student, alumnus, supporter
please explain why your players have to give
3 unsportsman like fouls?
Siguro nga hindi inutos ni Vanguardia yun
I'm giving him the benefit of a doubt
but for your bomber boys to give 3 fouls like that
(including a choking clothesline plus knee to the groin to Ogie)
you have to be kidding me...
3 strike rule ladies and gentlemen
1st strike its an accident
2nd its just an unfortunate circumstance
3rd its INTENTIONAL!!!
In relation to Aljamal's case
I have all confidence
1st off, San Beda isnt known as an outstanding Lawschool for nothing
2nd, there is no "concrete law" that prohibts Aljamal's actions...
WHEN WE ECOUNTER TRIALS AND HARDSHIPS
WE SHALL GIVE YOU HONOR AND PRAISE

Let's stop the "BANGAYAN"....try to move on. For San Beda you won the game...diba masaya na kayo. For Jose Rizal they paid the price...umuwi silang luhaan.
Both of you have to win against Letran. For Jose Rizal you have to win the last 2 remaining games to have a shot for the twice to beat advantage. For San Beda...talunin nyo muna ang letran tapos na ang Jose Rizal game e...cge kayo baka Letran magchampion this season 83...kayo pa naman ang number one team, mas nakakahiya un.

What frankie did last wednesday was NOT HOW A BEDAN SHOULD BE. Wala sa lugar!! He used to be like that back in his PBA days. He said that what jru players did on his guys was a blessing of jru's coach(?). Pressuming he was right, is it not but proper to complain to the refs. Then the refs shoud then have penalized those players..kick the players out if they have to! But why single out JRU's coach??!
And his words.... his words are plain too dirty which contradicts his useless statement of "having class" so to speak. What he did, confronting...using kalye dirty words and his actions in general were plain too cheap! I'm just disgusted on how he acted.
c'mon guys. let's all be open minded about this issue. true enough, the players of jru have commited such unaccepted fouls BUT I didn't like the way frankie lim reacted. asan na yung 'class' na sinasabi nya wherein the way his actions speak of being unclassy at all. I even saw his wife by the bench, nakikipagaway din!!!!!!!!!!!!! *** da hell! and from what i know, she teaches 'etiquette' pa.
i'd rather have koy banal and get a b2b than have this whole crappy incident happen again. disappointing.

CREDITS TO THE FF:
1. Coach Hopiang Baboy HOGuardia - for calling the shots and masterminding the plays. for hiding behind his hopia robots and soiling his pants from the verbal abuse he received. Also for the free hopiang baboy after each practice wherein the ingredients used is derived from his gut. eeeww!
2. Bchemist - for strength conditioning, agility, endurance, some backdoor action, shot of steroids.. etc. of the players, none of these deadly accurate maneuvers would have been possible to execute without the necessary upper body strength or so she says.. only the cream of the crap can make that possible in weeks! (would you believe that crap?)
3. none other than the stars: Hopia Bummers - for being sooo dumb to not know what is the right thing to do and blindly follows their coaches evil deeds.
4. Paul Supsupan (who else!?) - the greatest sixth man of them all, who would search heaven and hell, move mountains, swim oceans, slew lions, make up false rules and by-laws, scheme evil plans, bake hopia, look despicable, be arrogant, get hysterical over an impending defeat, look pathetic, cry :mecry:, troop to the red army gallery to intimidate some kids but only to cower in fear in the end. all sacrifices for the love of the game, goodwill, sportsmanship, transparency, for his beloved hopias and to line his pocket.
care to include more?

PLAYING FAIR
By Ronnie Nathanielsz
ManilaStandardToday.com
24 August 2007
WHEN we switched to Studio 23 to watch the San Beda-Jose Rizal University game last Tuesday, we were pleasantly surprised to see Red Lion’s hotshot Yousif Aljamal in action since the league’s so-called management committee had banned him for the rest of the season.
The reasons cited was Aljamal’s failure to inform the Mancom of his entry into the Philippine Basketball Association Annual Draft and apparently for his participation in games, which were part of the Rookie Camp activities.
For a moment, we thought that good sense had prevailed and the National Collegiate Athletic Association realized its mistake and let the young man play. Instead, it turned out that San Beda obtained a Temporary Restraining Order, which enabled Aljamal to play in what was a crucial game to Jose Rizal University in its bid to earn a place in the Final Four.
To begin with, the attempt by management committees or boards of governors to interfere in the operations of any leagues goes against the grain of ensuring fairness and integrity, since team owners or their representatives obviously have partisan and selfish interests to protect. This is true of the PBA, PBL, UAAP, NCAA or any other league for that matter. That is why the leagues appoint commissioners, who are presumably fair-minded individuals, who don’t favor any team and have no particular interests other than the good of the league as a whole.
“Think League” was the cry of the late, well-loved PBA commissioner Jun Bernardino, who followed the path of independence and fairness, which were espoused by his eminent predecessors and mentors Leo Prieto and Rudy Salud.
The fact that JRU, the host of this year’s NCAA, was playing San Beda in a game that meant so much to them and stood to benefit from the ban on Aljamal made a mockery of the concept of fairness and sportsmanship that we presume is inculcated in the youth by our educational institutions. Whether JRU influenced the Mancom or not is immaterial, because whether they like it not, it looked in very poor taste. Besides, it didn’t speak well of the NCAA itself especially since Aljamal was a key player and proved it beyond doubt in Tuesday’s (sic) game.
The resort to the courts as a means of obtaining justice in a sporting environment runs counter to the very essence of the philosophy that games should be won or lost on the hardcourt or the playing field and never in board rooms, where personal interests override the good of the league. Beyond that, it sets a disturbing trend that all genuine lovers of sport should guard against.
Of course, San Beda was left with no choice but to seek redress in the courts for what seemed like a terrible injustice both to the team and the player by the NCAA management committee, which should, in the first place, merely set the goals and the guidelines and allow its commissioner to run the league and decide on issues of eligibility, violation of rules, etc.
Aljamal had an inherent right to join the PBA Draft and there is no earthly reason why he should have been severely penalized for not informing the NCAA other than it being an act of courtesy. That he played in the Rookie Camp games as a basis for the disqualification rings hollow. The games were not part of a sanctioned tournament and was merely an attempt to size up the skills of the amateur players in the draft.
In the end, Aljamal played, San Beda won as expected despite a pathetic effort of JRU to play dirty at times, which incurred the ire of coach Frankie Lim, and JRU was embarrassed, not so much because they lost but how they tried to win.

One more thing, calling two useless timeouts in the end canto just to annoy the opponent... WHAT THE...WTF! nakakatawang isipin na inooverpower nyo ang JRU, "bakit ka pumapatol sa level nila"?
ohwell... hope to see koy back next season.
i agree with some of your points. here's mine. though i'm a bedan at heart, it's juz dissapointing to know how a coach destroyed sbc's rep.

Really, babae ka? PM me your resume and I'll refer you to my neighbor who's looking for a nanny :naughty:
We won IN COURT and ON THE COURT. Sino ngayon ang tulo laway?
JRU Bombers, meanwhile, went kaput on the court and in the court of public opinion:
In the end, Aljamal played, San Beda won as expected despite a pathetic effort of JRU to play dirty at times, which incurred the ire of coach Frankie Lim, and JRU was embarrassed, not so much because they lost but how they tried to win.

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVZXsAkLeFs

An appeal to the DECENT ('me mga di kasama dyan') Students & Faculty members of Jose Rizal University (JRU):
Don't allow your INCOMPETENT & UNSCRUPULOUS School Officials like Supan bismirch the good name of your University. Supan's actions have TAINTED JRU as a whole, & I don't think you should continue to allow that to happen.
Cut off the incompetent Cancers that is threatening to ruin your school's good name.
