for me, its seems individual awardees is clearly seen...
here's my recap for this season:
MVP: Kelvin dela Pena - Mapua
Mythical 5
G Kelvin dela Pena - Mapua
G Sean Co - Mapua
F Yousif Aljamahal - San Beda
F Daren Hayes - JRU
C Sam Ekwe - San Beda
ROY: Jonathan Banal - Mapua
MIP: Sean Co - Mapua / Jay Jazul - Letran
DPY: Sam Ekwe - San Beda
NCAA Power Rankings: KDP spells like MVP
1. Kelvin dela Peña (MIT) – Maybe, just maybe, if dela Peña did not get himself fouled out in the minute of the Cardinals’ game against CSJL (8/8), he might have grabbed a rebound that could have given him his second triple-double in a span of less than a month (17 pts, 8/8 ft, 9 rebs, 11 assts). He then followed it up with 19 points on 8/14 shooting, seven rebounds, and six assists against SSCR (8/10). If MIT compliments his performance with wins, and possibly a final four appearance, then we might be seeing an MVP frontrunner in this guy.

2. Yousif Aljamal (SBC) – Surprisingly, or it may not come as a shock at all, Aljamal has been the pride of the Red Lions for some time now (21 pts, 3/4 3pts, 10 rebs vs CSB, 8/10). This compensates on the down time Pong Escobal (4 pts, 22 mins vs CSB, 8/10) and Ogie Menor (scoring going down since 21 pts vs CSB, 7/11) are suffering at the moment.
3. Jason Ballesteros (SSCR) – Just like a good song that you could not get out of you head, Ballesteros returns to the countdown with a double-double (13 pts, 15 rebs vs MIT, 8/10) and then some (4 blks).
4. Sean Co (MIT) – Co has stepped up as the primary scorer for MIT coach Leo Isaac (19 ppg last week). In addition, he finds the time to do some other things as well (9 rebs vs CSJL, 8/8).
5. Jonathan Banal (MIT) – Making a debut into the list is Jonathan Banal, son of former SBC coach Koy Banal. Long overdue, actually, but he made the cut this time around (14 pts, 6/9 2pts, 2 rebs, 4 assts, 1 blk vs CSJL, 8/8; 11 pts, 8/8 fts, 5 rebs, 3 assts, 2 stls vs SSCR, 8/10). He might just bag ROY if he remains on form.
6. Sam Ekwe (SBC) – Ekwe had a pretty normal afternoon statistically against CSB (13 pts, 19 rebs, 3 blocks, 8/10). It was his shooting though that was off that day (4/14 fg, 5/10 ft).
7. Jerby del Rosario (MIT) – It is obvious the team of the week is Mapua with four entrants on the rankings. It helped that they won their two games last week. And that the starters get a boost with extended minutes (30.5 mpg/player lat week). It would not mean squat if you are not consistent though (read: Neil Pascual). Del Rosario easily crosses that line (14 pts, 5 rebs, vs CSJL, 8/8; 14 pts, 6/6 fg, 9 rebs, vs SSCR, 8/10). Even his turnover numbers are constant (4.5 topg last week).
8. Bryan Faundo (CSJL) – You might have noticed by now that the prevailing trend this week are double-doubles (15 pts, 11 rebs vs MIT, 8/8) or at least near double-doubles (look: Daa). What spells the difference are the other splendid things you did in that game (50% fg, 2 assts).
9. Jayson Nocom (JRU) – What stomach virus? That is so last week. Check out Nocom this week (12 pts, 2/5 3pts, 12 rebs vs UPHD, 8/8).
10. Dino Daa (CSJL) – The do-it-all Daa has compensated, at least in the game against MIT (8/8), what other teammates have failed to deliver (19 pts, 7/12 fgs, 9 rebs, 2 assts, 2 blks).
