The measurement of courage is not based on the weapon that a man carries. Guns don't kill people, people do. It's just a basketball game, no one in this day and age carries a deadly weapon inside the venues, unless you're a part of a security force that protects the players and distinguished VIPs inside the venue. As a citizen who has a permit to carry, you are cautioned to bring such weapons and it might invite more people who have the capacity to bring in weapons in the venues. I suggest you leave it in your car and be the peacemaker among your brothers in Letran. ;)

I have owned several guns for the last 10 years already. I have been granted PTCs every year (except during the time of Ping Lacson when he revoked PTCs).

As a responsible gun owner, I never thought of bringing my licensed guns to any public place like restaurants, movie houses, bars, sports venues and other public places.

I also never used my gun to intimidate and scare the hell out of my fellow motorists, jeepney drivers, tricycle drivers, pedicab drivers, taxi drivers and bus drivers.

I don't understand your post at all. You said that you are a "good-standing citizen". Why then would you bring your gun inside a sports venue?

FYI, at the back of your PTC, it is clearly stated there that "the firearm shall not be brought inside public drinking and amusement places and all other commercial or public establishments."

As a "good-standing citizen", you ought to be reading the conditions of your PTC.

I remember vividly that when Ariel and Maverick were interviewing Rene Saguisag, a well-known Bedan, Mav keeps on stopping Ariel from asking Mr. Saguisag some questions. Then Paolo Orbeta got nabbed for gambling/game-fixing/point-shaving/whathaveyou that were eventually dropped (because...hehehehe...sa isang topic na 'yan...and I kid you not, I know why Orbeta's accuser dropped all charges), then someone bringing a gun inside the game venue?! It will not only taint the name of your alma mater but also the NCAA, as it might bring the perception that the NCAA is back to its "good ol' days." I mean, come on! Basketball is just a game! It's not the end of the world if either team wins. It's not even a matter of life or death, for goodness sake.

So what am I trying to imply? That you need not bring it to prove a point that violence will be avoided if you can protect yourself and your comrades. Ika nga sa Spiderman, with great power (firepower) comes great responsibility. Kaya nga may marshalls or discipline officers ang bawat college para ma-avoid ang rumbles and other forms of violence in the arena. Let them do their jobs, you are there to cheer, not to make them cower in fear because of your firearm.

Tsk. NCAA games are HIGHLY EMOTIONAL, so carrying a gun into such a game is very, very dangerous.

If you want protection, get a non-lethal alternative, like a Stun Gun, or Taser.

If you insists on carrying a gun, then be prepared to face somebody carrying a gun also, 'hindi yung matapang ka lang, dahil ikaw me baril, ang mga kalaban mo wala.'
