Hmm... and here I am thinking that fashion is subjective. Meaning no matter how hideous it is as long as some people think it is 'cool', it's still fashionable. Especially if those are expensive brands. Fashion really is all about status. You are fashionable if you are wearing expensive stuff. If you can't afford the expensive stuff, you settle for the knock-offs.

jiminabottle
Aug 13, 2007, 10:53 PM
No, it's not. It's much about common sense, and little about status. Still though, if it's ugly, it doesn't matter who made it. It's just plain fat ugly.

CROCS. Sorry but I just find NOTHING pretty about it! D: I don't care how expensive and IN it is, it just looks like cheap, PLASTIC doll shoes. >.< Call me the most prejudiced person around but when I see anyone wearing crocs I end up judging them as 'trying hard makiuso' or just lame. >_>

And their leader would be this guy I interviewed a couple of months ago who wore his shades the entire interview. :rotflmao:

my list:

(disclaimer: some gifted few can actually get away with some so-called "crimes" and actually look fashionable. let's just say these are the stuff that bothers me. :kitty:)

~ white top and black bra (hate it! looks dirty)
~ visible bra straps
~ transparent bra straps (we could still see them anyway, looks lousy, too)
~ embroidered/lacy bra with a snug tee (seamless, please)
~ visible panty lines/thong straps
~ print on print (works but very few can pull this off)
~ overload of textures (leather, sequins, beads, knits, fur in one outfit!)
~ high leather boots or heavy clothes in the height of summer
~ wearing revealing clothes but squeamishly tugging it every 2 minutes to hide your body. :glee:
~ tutleneck tops and chokers even if you have a short neck
~ combo of brown bottom and green top (mukhang puno)
~ too much accessories (big earrings, big necklace, big bangles)
~ gold and silver mix-up (sakin lang naman)
~ being too coordinated
~ yellowish whites

that's it for now. :kitty:

as a matter of preference, i find high leather boots hawt. no matter the season or the weather. nothing's more sexier than watching a woman take off her high leather boots.

revealing clothes are hot. but if you continuously tuck it, pull it, check the buttons, every time you step on the escalator, pass a mirror, sit down, stand up, walk for five minutes- then it becomes a stupid.

i don't find people wearing leather jacket or their coats at 12 noon "unfashionable" but if they start sweating and complaining of the heat- it's stupid.

gold and silver mix up can be pulled off but only if one accessory is a combination of both. for example- silver earrings, silver necklace chain, gold pendant, silver watch with silver + gold strap.

for guys, gold ring, gold belt, silver buckle shoes, gold watch with gold + silver strap.

as for guys:

denim top on denim bottom. hideous.

non coordinated socks are bad, but black pants with black shoes and white socks? terrible. socks should match your pants. if you're good, you can match your socks with your tie, but it has to complement the shoe. the safest would be to match it with your shoe- you can't go "wrong" with it, but it won't be "right" either. you want your shoes noticed. not your entire feet.

clothes too tight, their flabs show even when they're standing up.

too long/short neckties.

polka dot anythings. sorry, i just couldn't say anything nice about it.

- maong na baston at bitin na acid washed (please buy a new pair, the 80s are long gone)
- naka barong or polo barong pero naka-maong
- jeans na tadtad ng metal buttons sa gilid (some can pull this off though)
- naka slacks tapos naka running shoes
- mga bastos na messages or pictures sa t-shirt sometimes it's comical since it appears the wearer is not aware what the message means, for example, i saw a geriatric woman wearing a tshirt with the message "b*tch", maybe her grandkids gave her the tshirt as a joke
- i saw this old lady once in seoul, she had on a baseball cap, jacket, t-shirt, bag, jogging pants and shoes na lahat isang brand, okay naman sana kung hindi lang ang lalaki ng mga logo, dunno, baka naman endorser sya hehe.
- pag may big belly tapos naka super sikip na tshirt na horzontal pa ang stripes, like this guy i saw the tshirt was black with neon green stripes or the other way around, he reminded me of a caterpillar

This outfit really looks horrible. Horrible. I have never seen a person that I know in such an outfit. THE HELL. Huwag nilang i-elevate ang Chucks. No matter how popular they are, they aren't dress shoes. And besides, just because they're popular doesn't mean they're pretty. IMO, Chucks are on the same level as crocs. Both fat ugly.

dude. black pants with brown shoes are ok. brown pants with black pants are ok too. in fact, it's nice because your shoes will stand out. being monochromatic is not really always right.

pants are formal or non-formal, slacks, jeans, pinstripped, doesn't matter.

black or navy blue pants - black shoes, tan, camel, oxblood
beige or brown pants - any brown shoes, camel, black
gray pants - black shoes, oxblood, camel
white pants - any brown, camel, white

IMO, Chucks might be ugly if they look so wrong on you or if you couldn't get the balls to sport a pair and carry it with confidence and conviction. Been wearing them again since before the advent of nike presto's. I don't like Vans and Airwalk but I will not call them ugly.:)

what's wrong with this...c'mon give us a break and let us do our thing here. visible panty line lalo na kung bikini at yung mga thongs, they're pleasure to our eyes, they're not fashion eyesore for your info.

heres my take...
....white socks in black pants/shoes
....bitin o sobrang haba necktie...it should be in the middle of your buckle or just above it.

Not really. There's more to shirt-tie coordination than just color. You could wear a tie and a shirt that are both blue, and in almost the same depth of color, and still not be committing a fashion crime.

Honestly, I sometimes wear my jeans the same way, coz I can't find time to have some of my pants tailored. I think it depends on the fit of the pants, and the shoes that you're wearing.

actually, i have come across a number of people coming from different backgrounds claiming that thier LV is auth but in reality, it's fake. :bop:

which is so sad because you don't have to pretend if your stuffs are auth or fake, people will know the truth. that me for me is a fashion crime. crime in a sense that it's punushable by law and unpleasing since it shows you're true color.

I don't really care if a person's stuff are authentic or fake, BUT what i am trying to say is that don't claim it's authentic if it's really fake. So pretentious.

A fake LV bag still looks good, it's fake but looks good. I'm sure you'd agree.

Again, the argument of those who can't afford. "Oh you are so shallow, you can't buy fake and feel good about it." I have to say, this is more of a morality issue than a fashion problem. It probably doesn't really belong to this thread, but this is all dialectical. Fashion is a political, social, cultural, and economic affair. These four disciplines are neatly packed into a single, all-meaning word.

Nene buys fake Louis Vuitton because her society and culture dictate that Louis Vuitton conspicuously tells people that she belongs to a specific social class, but she can't buy the real thing because actually she doesn't belong to that social class, so she settles for the fake one. This is probably a very sick twist to the concept of conspicuous consumption, where Nene shows something for nothing she has or ever will have. If conspicuous consumption is viewed by many as shallow already, then what about this? I daresay it's even worse.

We're not talking about who's shallow. We're talking about who's worse than shallow. After all, you're the one who injected "shallow" into this otherwise peaceful thread. If we're talking about excuses, what's everyone's excuse for criticizing people who can afford and actually buy Louis Vuitton? We have all the right to criticize those who buy fakes, because we're all for having a morally upright, IPR-aware society.

today i'm wearing a green tight fit polo, black lowrise bootcut pants and black calf length boots, baduy ba? 'cause may nakasalubong akong guy wearing a barong na super loose, dupoy pants ('yun bang nagkukulumpon sa laylayan) and, chunky shoes(!). the reason i'm relating this is that he looked at me from head to toe with a smirk on his face. i was thinking, what the heck? the nerve of that guy

gusto mo lang yata reply-an ka dito na *** nakasalubong mo ang baduy eh hindi ikaw. he he he...

girls wearing spandex or fit blouses tapos bakat na bakat yung lace ng ng bra (para tuloy may diprensya yung boobs nila). kaya nga naimbento yung "t-shirt" bra.

girls wearing regular strapped bra tapos suot na top halter or racerback. ano ba? kaya nga naimbento yung bra na may pa-x *** straps or *** bra with straps na pang-halter tops!

yung mga nagsusuot ng pang-gimik or party clothes tapos magsisimba pala.

Sep 8, 2007, 10:48 PM
^ Absolutely. There are rules to the different kinds of attire.

There's only so much one can get away with in fashion.

FASHION NO NO's

these, so far, are the most eye straining and brain hurting get ups i've seen

1) Open toe sandals tapos naka stockings ( unless sales lady ka)
2) Super faded jeans na baggy tapos body fit na shirt and naka yellow sneakers plus metal chains and bling blilngs (OA to the max!)
3)Short floral and black fishnet stockings
4) same color - from head to toe.. i saw a woman in early 50's, wearing hot pink headband, pink earrings, pink spag strap top, pink skirt, pink bracelet, pink shoes and pink bag!! OMG.. eyesore!!!
5) wearing dirty and soiled shoes/slippers na color white- please naman, clean them before using.
6) elvis getup or wannabe look!! - with all due respect kay Elvis presley, please naman... we have a neighbor who should be placed into prison for committing this crime!!

Ito muna for the meantime. I'll post for more..

fashion no-nos for me:

1. VPLs (visible panty lines)
2. wearing tight white pants/skirt then dark-colored undies
3. wearing jeans so loose that their undies show already
4. wearing ill-fitting bras and tight shirts (it's when you see some skin hanging from the sides because the bra is a bit tight on the girl)
5.wearing too much make-up (i see girls whose faces are 2 shades lighter than their necks because of too much foundation or maybe it's just it's the wrong shade)
6. this is just a personal opinion: wearing hairbands/headbands but then the bangs are still on the girls' faces
7. wearing shades in enclosed areas
8. i'm not sure if this could be considered a no-no but wearing/spritzing too much perfume that people around you become suffocated of the smell

this is all I could think of for now....

Very fashion crime for me is a woman, na ubod ng taba, and super higpit ng damit and pants (jeans, short, and etc.). Sobrang higpit na puputok na ang sinusuot, tinalo pa ang suman.

Mga tinuturing na part ng formal attire ang Havaianas - (lol).

men wearing jeans then naka basketball (high-cut) shoes. kamusta naman yun? sneakers were invented already, dude.

crocs or anything alike na naka-socks. goodluck with that!

t-shirts na sumisigaw ang satanic prints.. like skulls, devils and anything alike.. katakot.. parang kelangan ng exorcism..

BOTH GIRLS AND BOYS wearing dark shades sunglasses INSIDE the MALL or somewhere UNDER THE ROOF. taas ba ng sikat ng araw sa loob ng mall mga ate't kuya o baka naman naka-E ka? :bop:

This outfit really looks horrible. Horrible. I have never seen a person that I know in such an outfit. THE HELL. Huwag nilang i-elevate ang Chucks. No matter how popular they are, they aren't dress shoes. And besides, just because they're popular doesn't mean they're pretty. IMO, Chucks are on the same level as crocs. Both fat ugly.

Chuck Taylor are one of the worst shoes I've ever seen. Kakatawa, may nag cocollect pa pala ng Chucks. Even celebrities collect Chucks. It is like collecting a trash. Crocs on the other hand - I never did like their footwear, but mind you, Crocs are very helpful especially to flat-footed people....
