Now that the final four is fast approaching, I guess its about time to place our bets on who gets the most coveted prize an individual can achieve... the Most Valuable Player!

Post your bet and as much as possible avoid choosing a candidate because he is from your school...
Choose someone who you think really deserves the title!:bop:*okay*

Kelvin Dela Pena is leading and roaring for the award
according to NCAA basketball analysts...

Yousif Aljamal, RJ Jazul, Marvin Hayes are trailing
but we cant discount other players such as Escobal, Daa, Viray Menor, Co and Daa

Anyway, its time for us to share insights and choose who you think deserves the title MVP of NCAA season 83

By the way,

Being the star player in a team on top of the standings doesn't equate to MVP...

However, being part of the top team is a plus

di na ba talaga pwede makatanggap ng kahit na anong award si Ekwe?

DonLabaro
Aug 11, 2007, 01:27 AM
^sorry but Ekwe is not entitled for any individual award this season.. that includes the MVP..
But I think this development is actually good for the league coz it gives opportunities for our local players to shine.
If we'd base the MVP plum in the current NCAA statistics, unquestionably Sam will be taking home the award again.
Sam Ekwe continous to be a defensive nightmare and now he has developed into one of the leading scorers for the RL team...
Anyway, there is still next year for him!!!

Now let me tally the votes

Dela Pena = 2
Alajamal = 2
Hayes = 1
Jazul = 1

Keep em comming!

I haven't decided yet on who to vote
but just an insight
If Mapua enters the final four
planchado na ni Dela Pena yan

If San Beda wins over JRU and Letran
Aljamal will be the strongest contender
which I want to happen.. hehe

Homer vote - Aljamal

Big Ticket
Aug 11, 2007, 04:20 PM
kung stats lang ang basehan (just like how jay sagad won the MVP), its KELVIN DELA PENA! averaging 15 pts, 8 rebs and 6 assts per game....had one triple-double already and another close triple-double game (18 pts, 8 rebs, 11 assts against LC)

Its Kelvin dela Pena for me. who can deny these numbers? 14.8 ppg (3rd best behind Co's 15.7 and Aljamal's 15.2), 8.5rpg (6th in the league, #1 for all guards), 5.3apg (#1 in the league), 2spg (also #1), and 0.5bpg. certainly a good season for him. For me he is a cinch for the MVP award, especially if the Cards are able to sneak in the final four.

i couldnt disagree with de la pena. his performance is truly superb not just by the numbers. true basketball gentleman and sportsmanship icon. kahit inaalaska namin yan during gametime kumakaway pa yan after the game. napikon na din minsan, tao lang din naman kasi, but still at end game he knows who he is and level himself off the ground. he is someone in the level of jason castro that had the respect of the bedan community.

goodluck. but still my homer vote goes to aljamal. hehe

hmmm.. let me guess. was it in the first round encounter between SBC and MIT, wherein he made an unnecessary hard foul against an SBC player (escobal ata) with only under 15 seconds left and the win already in San Beda's bag? it was definitely due to frustration, having given up the lead when it mattered the most. hehe. pero i remember in one game against SBC (again) last season, he even approached the SBC bench to personally apologize for an unintentional hard foul he gave to a Red Lion. just goes to show how much class he has has a player and as a person.

kaya Kelvin dela Pena for MVP! hehehe.:D

based on stats, its big man ekwe.. but he is disqualified from winning any individual awards from the infamous kick to lee sang myeon of the altas,.. hence, the next best player, stats-wise. which is KC dela Peņa = MVP

DonLabaro
Aug 14, 2007, 02:20 AM
Dela Pena = 9
Alajmal = 6
Hayes = 2
Jazul = 1
Co = 1

Kelvin takes the lead

If aljamal continue to score at least 15 points a game and grabbing at least 8 rebounds, he will be the MVP this season.

discount na natin c jazul his more on giving up the ball for his teammate to gain much confidence in preparation of the semis but i tell you in crunch time of the final four jazul will make the big shots for the knights...
anyways ill go for kelvin dela pena of mapua
