Of course everybody wants a tough sounding monicker to project toughness on the opponent. JRU's monicker spans decades, and is a good one. Let them keep it.

Several years ago, UP changed their name from "Fighting Maroons" to, of all names, "Parrots." Thankfully, that idea died a quick death and UP is still known today by its rightful monicker "Fighting Maroons."

I think that people who have knowledge of pragmatics would appreciate the name "heavy bombers". There have been points in time when JRU played well- delivering heavy bombs to their opponents. Also, the name was given without the intention of being associated with terrorism or any kind of violence.

The school shouldn't have used the name BOMBERS. It has a negative connotation. The Japanese as you said were the ones who put the "bombs", ;) are you descendants of these "Japanese" who wanted to hurt your Filipino roots?
