Guys

Anyone from any of these schools?

The two schools Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) and UP-College of Mass Communication are both offering a Masters Program in Communication. One in Communication Management, the other in Communication Research. Both are definitely intruiging for different reasons.

Consider this, AIJC's curriculum looks very practical and useful in my intended profession (PR) but is not as well known as the other school. UP, on the other hand is well, UP. The school is recognized worldwide and has an established tradition of excellence. Not that UP is just relying on this reputation though. Its curriculum's strength lies more on its ability to produce excellent scholars and academics (at least based on my humble opinion).

Basically, which should I choose? One is a relatively unknown school that may offer the most practical communication curriculum in the country while the other is a recognized school known for its scholarship. Further, am I correct in my assumptions?

Maybe this can give you guys an idea of the two schools I'm talking about--
AIJC: http://www.aijc.com.ph/gradschool.htm
UP-CMC: http://cmc.upd.edu.ph/commres.htm

Appreciate to hear from students, alumni or professors from these schools if there are any.

Thanks!

I'm a freshie from the UP-CMC so you may find my take a bit shallow.
But first, I'm not a fan of CMC. Not that they're not good or there's something questionable about the administration etc., but it just doesn't have the career track I want to pursue, which makes me wonder why I'm there in the first place.

Anyway, our college seems to be a fine lot because as what the upperclassmen were telling us in the past orientation activities, CMC is the most socially active in the university and of course that's what being in the communication media is all about. They've also introduced a lot of successful college alumni who are well-known in & out of the country, and that proves UP-CMC's ability to produce prolific "icons" in the field.

On the other hand, AIJC may have the better facilities than UP (not sure) since I assume it's a private organization (you know...). So, that's one factor you may consider. Though, I can say UP students do away with the lack of modern equipment and all that, and they actually perform well in their profession after they graduate. Also, think about the liberal approach of education that UP guarantees to give you if you decide to enroll in the premier university in the country.

A little bias over there.:) But it all boils down to whichever suits your personality and learning style the best. Choose what your heart beats for, hehe... Good luck in your studies!*okay*
