And ayun nga, sa ilang units nagkaiba. Pero pareho lang siguro sa majors.. Marami ring career opportunities..

From what I heard, pwede atang pre-med pareho?

text speak is not allowed here and I'm pretty sure it'll be the same case in the classroom

AB Psych -- in my school, you have free electives, so may choice ka sa mga pwede mong kunin na subjects. Encouraged ang social sciences or pscyh-related courses such as Educ courses. Pwedeng pre-law, pre-teaching.

BS Psych -- instead of free electives, science electives ang subjects mo, like Physics, Math, Chem. Usually used as a stepping stone sa pre-med.

^ True. Ask around. In my case, pareho kay im0ni. BA Psych is more geared towards Law or Humanities. Yung BS Psych mas concentrated sa sciences. As for majors, pareho lang naman, sa electives lang nagkaiba. Contrary to popular belief, may math ang Psych: Algebra, Trigo, at in my case, I had Calculus rin. Intro lang naman pero Calculus pa rin.

If you're not good in Sciences and you can't take them (i.e. di mo pag tiya-tiyagaan pag-aralan) I say go to BA Psych. Pero if pangarap mong mag med, maganda yung BS Psych talaga.

Isipin mong mabuti yung gusto mo.

princessren, hija, isipin mo munang mabuti ano talaga gusto mong pag aralan or kung ano ang interest at kaya mo. depende din sa school na mapipili mo. from where i came from top 10% ng batch ang pwede sa BS PSY, though nakapasok ako nag shift ako on my third year to AB PSY kse andaming math at sciences at iniiwasan ko yung Comparative Anatomy na subject sa bio kung saan magda-dissect daw ng pusa at shark  eh like you takot din ako sa dugo and anything gory...and yeah, may arithmophobia din ako :glee: besides wala naman ako balak mag proceed to medicine kaya i felt better with my decision in shifting...ayun mas ok naman the rest of my college days

and nah, don't ever think too that AB PSY is the easier way out, may thesis din at mas madaming theoretical at memorizations and long readings. sarap mag aral noh *okay*

BS Psych is more of application (I think), and it includes a lot of science courses. AB Psych is more of research, and it doesn't focus too much on science courses.

There is not much difference really. There are no more requirements for medicine so AB Psych can now be pre-med.

The trick is find a school that offers pre-business, pre-law, pre-med all in one BS Psych course just like in SAN BEDA college.

The BS Psych program in SBC is a feeder to both its law and med school.

In terms of major subjects, they are the same.

bs deals more with the practical aspect, the other with theories... but only one topic: THE MIND!!!

purpleheadd07
Oct 31, 2007, 12:30 AM
^^it's not THE MIND..rather it's THE BEHAVIOR...thus we Psy grads don't read and interpret MINDS...but we do read and interpret BEHAVIORS. :)

In U.P. Diliman, may designated na B.S. and B.A. Psychology....

B.A. Psych- more free electives (20/21 units) in any
department/college of the
university. Most students take up Human Resources
Managementin the College of Business Administration,
Anthropology,& Education. In my case, I took
Industrial Psychology, Human Resources Management,
and International Relations ( Political Science Elective).
Probably, I'll be taking up Public International Law,
Private International Law and Diplomatic and Consular
Practice in Political Science Department. Many U.P.
students assume that B.A. Psych is a Pre-Law course
( can be) but the department is geared towards
many discpline/fields. But we have to take up
mind boggling Chemistry (5 units), Biology (5 units)
and Biological Psychology (4 units) subjects just like
Math 17 ( Algeb/Trig) and Calculus (5
units). B.A. AND B.S. PSYCH
STUDENTS HAVE THE SAME REQD PSYCHOLOGY
subjects.

B.S. PSYCH - THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS MORE BIOLOGY,
CHEMISTRY, AND PHYSICS SUBJECTS
TO BE TAKEN UP- BIO12, BIO102 ( COMPARATIVE
ANATOMY), CHEM31 ( ORGANIC CHEM) AND PHYSICS
71.

GO U.P.!!!! :)
