This is the story of Mr. Freakin' Personality and his mentor, Dr. Mentally Disturbed Sh_t. When Mr. Freakin' Personality was a student at the Malcolm Hall (where I also graduated), he had the honor (or horror) of being under Dr. Mentally Disturbed Sh_t, a faculty member who seemed to find ultimate joy in bragging about her academic credentials (Latin honors and academic degrees from this and that school) but not her score in the Bar exams. Also, Dr. Mentally Disturbed Sh_t was a former head of a government bureau that's been known more for bringing in illegal aliens instead of deporting them. She also headed a cabinet department where her boss' landowning family was a bitter opponent of her department's programs. So, Mr. Freakin' Personality became Dr. Mentally Disturbed Sh_t's student at the college whose "business is to teach law in the grand manner." One day, Dr. Mentally Disturbed Sh_t became furious when Mr. Freakin' Personality came in to class unprepared during one of the graded recitation sessions at the College of Law (for those of you who enjoy daily graded recitation sessions, I suggest you to take up law). So, she told Mr. Freakin' Personality, "Mr. Personality, look over the window, and take a good look of the acacia lane. If you ever come in to my class unprepared again, it would be better for you to just hang yourself in one of the trees there. The UP College of Law produces only the best and the brightest and it has no room for imbeciles like you!" It was a big humiliation for Mr. Freakin' Personality but then, in law school, you're not "made" unless you've been humiliated at least once. I'm speaking based on past experience. So going back. Years passed and their paths crossed again in 2004, in the Philippine Senate. By then, Mr. Personality already holds a high position in the Senate and is the Senate's representative to the powerful Judicial and Bar Council. There was a time when he broke a judge's favorite instrument after repeating his most famous quotation. Soon, Dr. Mentally Disturbed Sh_t, who was elected senator in 2004, was nominated for a seat in the Supreme Court. Still remembering his humiliation, Mr. freakin' Personality finally got his revenge by excluding his former mentor from the final list of nominees. And Dr. Mentally Distrubed Sh_t could not help but remember that the student that she once humiliated finally had the last laugh.
